I love that we all collectively agreed on calling them "the boys"
On their earlier videos I thought it was just people cracking jokes and not taking them seriously (and a lot of the comments might have been exactly that) which seemed a bit disappointing to me. But the fact the nickname stuck around showed that they've gained an unexpected audience that does really enjoy what they do, and that's just awesome.
They’re called Altyn Tuu but yeah 🤣 Here on KZhead they’re known as The Boys
Is there any specific reason why this happened and when this came to be? Is it some inside joke I'm missing?

@Chris Leyva Ee is the best sound to catch the resonance in the throat. Ease into it like a Hee sound. Once you've got a bit of resonance going, don't tense your throat, find a nice relaxed pitch and just try and keep it going like a meditation. Your tongue will shape the air going over it and you can mess with that to find over tones and whistles. I don't know anymore than that but that's what I've managed to figure out. Hope it helps.

These kind of instruments and music makes a completely different impact when listened live in nature or next to a fire. Crazy how simple guitar rhymes using only two strings can sound so profoundly powerful when played at night, under the stars and next to a fire.
I realized maybe that’s why our ancestors could access altered states and do amazing things we just can’t anymore.

I added that simple guitar rhymes can also sound impactful in that environment. That was based on my own experience and trust me, those guitar rhymes I played were simple! I attended a performance at the college in New Paltz, NY, quite a while ago in which Tibetan monks throat sang and played dungchen (those long, long Tibetan horns). I was complete awestruck and caught up in the moment. It was so immersive that the whole hall vibrated; I could feel vibrations through the bottoms of my feet. I am amazed even now, just thinking about that night. ------------- These men are carrying it on and have done a wonderful job. But nothing at all can top a live performance.
