Every single cell in your body needs iodine! Learn more about the amazing benefits of iodine.
0:00 Introduction: What is iodine good for?
0:50 Iodine and cancer
1:22 Iodine benefits
2:38 Using iodine to detox
4:11 More benefits of iodine
In this video, we’re going to discuss iodine function and its many health benefits. The thyroid consumes about 6 milligrams of iodine daily, and the breast tissue consumes about 5 milligrams. The ovaries, brain, eyes, and the lining of your stomach all require significant amounts of iodine.
Iodine is highly antiestrogenic. Estrogen dominance increases the risk of cancer, especially in the breast, ovary, and uterus. Iodine causes cancer cells to self-destruct.
Iodine strengthens the thyroid, which improves your overall health. It also strengthens the immune system and reduces inflammation. Iodine is also vital for a healthy pregnancy.
Iodine is considered a halogen, so other halogens like bromide and fluoride compete with iodine in the body. Increasing your iodine intake can help detox these other halogens.
Try drinking water with unrefined sea salt for several days, then begin taking Lugol’s iodine solution-a mixture of two different types of iodine. Take this solution for about five days, then take two days off. Also, consume between 3 and 9 grams of vitamin C, 400 mg of magnesium, 100 mg of selenium, and the complete B-complex to detox these other halogens completely.
If you have hyperthyroidism, do not take iodine.
Just because you’re allergic to shellfish does not mean you are allergic to iodine. Goitrogenic foods like cruciferous vegetables and lima beans block iodine-but if you regularly consume sea kelp, it counters any bad effects. High amounts of iodine can be beneficial for respiratory viruses.
Iodine also binds with mercury and aluminum, helping rid the body of toxic metals.

Father talked about having gum problems in his 20s. Dentist insisted on pulling teeth and obtaining dentures. He refused. Rubbed iodine on his gums /not recommended at the time. Had all his own teeth till almost 90.

  • Dr. Berg, I thank you so much. My son was diagnosed with dermhoid. A lump over his left collarbone. We went to 2 specialists and both said only surgery could be the solution. You could see and feel the lump. After using kelp and dulse with most of his food (we ended up using it in the family coz if one lacks it, we may all do since we eat the same food for the most part), it significantly went away in like a month or so. Now, we cant see nor feel it. Even the doctor who said it might not go away, was happy to inform us that he does not need to come for every 3 months visits and ultrasound. We are still told to com every 6 months just to get him checked and no ultrasound still is needed. GOD's purpose for your life to share awesome health information is working so well to many people. I myself fast (though currently in a plateau), and it works not just for losing weight but feeling healthy. Thank you. May GOD protect and bless you and your family!

  • I accidentally overdosed on iodine because while taking lugols a few times a week, I increased it to 1 drop a day WHILE simultaneously taking chlorella tablets “just because” not knowing that chlorella contains iodine. Doesn’t say it anywhere on the box. I was hyperthyroid for 2 months. So this is a PSA that chlorella and spirillum’s have unknown amounts of iodine and if you take them, you probably do not need lugols or seaweed!

Without the levothyroxine suppressing the release of TSH by the hypothalamus my body started producing thyroxine on its own. Instead of taking the synthetic hormone ingested iodine, selenium and zinc - what the body needs to produce thyroxine. It took many months but I got to the other side. • I found this research out when I was looking into getting a hot tub. I learned how chlorine and bromine in excess are bad for your thyroid so i started taking iodine gradually up to 12.5 with cofactors. It's been a solid year now and my hot tub is coming next month so I hope I have prepped enough for the halides in the water. I think its important to slowly build your way up otherwise you can herx with sore throat and flu like symptoms.

  • Great information on iodine. More people need to be aware of its lack of presence in our food. If a person is the ovary body type, what would be the plan on action then? The information says the cruciferous foods mentioned, kale and broccoli, block iodine, yet those are helpful foods in balancing estrogen dominance.

  • I have been taking about 13mg ie 2 drops of Lugols iodine daily for 16 years as I knew about all the benefits but only rarely had a break from taking it, only food fasting twice a year and taking small amounts of magnesium and selenium. My TSH has been decreasing slowly over time indicating that I am hyperthyroid, overreactive, with weight loss etc and iodine seems to make symptoms worse. So I will have to stop taking iodine. Or maybe take one drop per week...? All doctors can think of is destroying the thyroid with radioactivity. I am trying Keto, B1, intermittent fasting and avoid gluten, soya, dairy and sugar. I hope that this will work... ? I am grateful for all your videos. Ty

  • I had no problem with fish, dairy, iodized salt and seaweed until I started taking sea kelp. Then came the headaches around the clock. It took me awhile to figure it out and now I've been suffering for 10 months. Sadly I've had to cut out all fish, iodized salt, dairy and seaweed. Things that never bothered me before if I eat them now my headaches are worse. I have of course since stopped taking sea kelp but not sure how I developed this hyper sensitivity to iodine and these excruciating headaches that won't go away. Just putting this info out there.

    • Sounds like your body is detoxing. There is a protocol to use when first taking any iodine, to help with bromide dumping.

    • There could be something the sea kelp you are reacting to. Try detox fast then slowly re-introduce one at a time

    • I experienced the exact same but did not connect it to iodine - and took some more. That last drop of Lugols sent me to hospital - severe hyperthyroidism, Graves disease (never had any issue with my thyroid before). And the symptoms started with severe headaches. Now I also have to avoid iodine, cant even eat out because you never know if the restaurants use iodizid salt (very common in Germany). I am glad you put that info out there, because while for many people iodine can help a lot, for some people it is very dangerous.

  • I love your videos, but I would really like to see what methods you would suggest for taking these "supplements" I don't like that word lol. So, do you have a menu, an online guide, a book, recipes, anything we can follow directly? A comprehensive list would be awesome to mix with herbal and home remedies. What I guess I'm looking for is specific answers to specific scenarios, like I may have either leaky gut, and/or other inflammatory issues as well as a possible autoimmune issues from the gut issues. There's too much information for me to rally follow, even your videos are hard to really break down what I should do for these issues. If you come up with a regimen for something like that I would buy it in a heartbeat.

  • ive been takings Lugols on/off for years. START SLOW. 1 drop = 250 mcg. the detox effects (herxheimer reaction) can be strong, as the bromides leave the cells and circulate throughout your body.
