Wow - I haven’t seen CTC play this good for a while. He gave Axelsen nothing cheap and his defence was really strong.
Eating humble pie here, i always felt CTC was overrated, a one trick pony, lacking racket skills required at the top level and tactical know how or another gear in the heat of battle, but fair do’s to him he played really well today.

@@emersonlee9968 Yes, he lacks the variety or deception in his kit bag, although he’s hit a purple patch in the last couple of tournaments, especially at the net, his game is very one dimensional and power based. As for his age, it’s got nothing to do with his underachievement, the CTC of 2023 is no different to a younger 2015 CTC, although Victoria is doing a good job cheerleading from the sidelines, I feel he could do with a good coach presence in his corner, he doesn’t seem to have the ability to problem solve, he is clueless,great players like Chen Long and G.O.A.T Lin Dan have the ability to work things out and change things during the game albeit with the help of coach during and game changeover, don’t get me wrong CTC is still a very good player, just not crème de la crème.

Chou's coach is everyones dream coach
When Chou won the first set and I saw there was only 20 min left I knew something big happened
Not so big, he is gone now, he won't have the mental strength to cope with defeats, as in the past. Signs were evident when he nearly lost to Popov a few weeks ago and broke a racket in anger. He had a good run, now it's over.

It's quite obvious that VA is not at his best. Many errors on attack, and slow responses in defense. However, taking nothing away from Chou. He was brilliant today.
Totally agree with you, VA is slower than normal and making errors he would normally make.
Question is why he was slower. Chou really played unpredictable stuff keeping Axelsen guessing. That may or may not be the full reason

Not surprised CTC could win this match if you watched his previous match. He’s in superb form. Hope he can keep it up! He moves so effortlessly around the court. He never looks like he’s in a rush.

Congratulations, CTC! Chou’s touch to shuttle looks very softy with relaxing when he receives smash. And footwork is very smooth and receiving net shot earlier.
Chou was composed, confident, and relax. An easy win, maybe not and both had given the best. VA was a bit frustrating throughout the whole game, otherwise it could be a good fight. Hats off to Chou, he came with determination 👍

Actually I'm wondering, is there a possibility that wind is the cause? Both Axelsen and Lee Zii Jia played on the same side for both 1st and second game, their mistakes are similar too especially going wide. But I can't explain why their opponents didn't have this issue hahahaha
@@user-it5zx4kj4m adjusting to drift is also part of a player's skill. Hans-Kristian and Anders Antonson said on their podcast that players like Lin Dan rarely struggle to find the line throughout a whole game.

Considering head to head 16-2 in favour of Ax. and also that the lenght of the video is only 40 minutes (not enought for a three game match) I honeslty thought that it's going to be a CTC demolition by Ax. Quite surprising, congrats CTC.

CTC net play is solid most of the net battles in this match CTC wins either by setting up a smash/overhead or by outplaying VA straight up at the net
CTC amazing performance, solid defence made Axelsen take extra risk which didn’t pay off
CTC gave a masterclass by exploiting every weakness of Axelsen.

CTC looking smooth and playful at the net in this match, he got a nice read on Axelsen attacks but was also able to smash with good accuracy. Axelsen looking a bit sluggish, usually his defense is very good to cover the body shots but today the reaction time was off.

Congrats to Chou Tien Chen, he was superb today. I don't know what's happening with Victor, having lost in the 2nd round of last week's big tournament against Ng Tze Yong who ranked 25 places below him and now losing by a big margin in the semi-final in two straight games.

CTC played incredibly well but also I think Axelsen has some kind of injury, his movement looks very different from usual it seems he's trying to avoid using one of his legs.

What's happening with Axelsen is he injured? suddenly not playing well that's 2 tournaments in a row losing bad. Chou played well.
Everyone reaches a point where things start not coming so easily. It's a bit worrying I hope he will still be able to piece together some championship wins but last few weeks, he wasn't the same Viktor we all know.
Axelsen did great, put up a good fight. He is indeed in the great condition, but CTC's defense is just top notch in this match. What a great performance from both player. 👏
Chou’s playing like a completely different player today
Viktor played LCW and CL after their peaks, as their careers were winding down - So it's not correct to say that they were at their peak. Although they never played Viktor 2022, they still played Viktor 2016/17 which isn't that far off. Viktor 2022 would still regularly lose 80% of the time against 2007-2013 LCW and 2010-2015 CL.
While watching this game, Victor did not know he was going to loose.
Hoping Viktor bounces back, because without him at the top, no one else seems consistent.

You probably could´ve placed Chou against a men´s double pair and he still would´ve won, literally everything worked out perfectly that day for him.
