DIY Naturalistic Bog Filtered Garden Pond for Turtles
In this week's video, I teamed up with some friends to build a pond! This one was a little different, though, because we had to create it from a few stock ponds. Our other friend, Charlie, texted and explained that we wanted to build a cool breeding setup for two albino snapping turtles using these ponds, we had full creative freedom otherwise.
We put our heads together and with a little bit of planning, a lot of work, and fun, I think we came up with something that looks incredible! You would never know this is a stock pond setup, unless we told you! Anyway, the rest of the video speaks for itself, so enjoy the build and let me know what you think in the comments.
ALSO, the pond is much bigger than it look. We were able to retain the majority of the space within the basin. It just doesn't appear that way from the top with all the branches and plants, but that was a purposeful decision. We wanted to ensure that the turtles had somewhere cool they can go during the heat of the Florida Sun.

This past week I linked up with some friends to build this awesome DIY pond down in Florida! It was a lot of fun and I think the results are incredible. Although we worked together, I think this could easily be done as a solo operation or with a different group of people. I want to know what you think, though. Let me know in the comments!

TANNER. NO WAY. I actually am in the process of building a pond for my painted turtles out of two stock tanks! One is buried and the other small one will be above with a spillway!! Im so excited to watch this because I've been on my own for the whole process so far. This will be a great way to get ideas and some instruction for my project! My bigger pond is already buried, and im getting the pump set up for the spillway one right now.. just not sure how to make sure it spill correctly yet. Ive never found a video so unexpectedly relevant haha, thanks for making this!!
Sounds like someone got their groove back ;) What a great build; this project in particular really feels like one of your miniature manufactured landscape terrarium builds scaled up to the human aspect ratio, or I suppose in this case turtle aspect ratio. The channel has come a long way, I would include SerpaDesign on a list of replacements to broadcast programs on networks such as HGTV. I'm so glad you are able to showcase this talent you have been developing throughout your life, and that you genuinely want to share not just the content of your creations, but the knowledge and experience you have devoted so much of your time and self in pursuit of. Para-socialism goes both ways; I enjoy your channel because of what you choose to present, and 'chat' can be a hive-mind of self-absorbed individual demands, finding and maintaining a healthy balance is incredibly difficult, I think you're handling it well but hey, don't forget to breathe sometimes. Wow quite a few of those moments looked hernia-inducing. I hope everyone is okay (albeit possibly nothing more than a bit sore with a few scrapes surely) and the whole thing turned out beautifully as always!

Even though i have no idea about landscaping or building ponds I still love watching all of these videos its just so calming and onistly makes me learn 1 or 2 things each video
1:04 felling a tree with a bunch of competent and handy folks and it still almost hits two people. From my own experience and hearing from others, it never ceases to amaze me how hard it is to fell a tree safely.

Because of your work I have been inspired to build a pond and eventually a cohesive, healthy landscape in my currently shabby back yard. Im really excited to see this. I have a pond I built when I moved in and it has a little waterfall with a pump in the bottom of the pond. I have to constanly clean the pump so I want to enlarge the pond and incorporate a bog. This helped me envision it better and gives me motivation. As always I love your content.

Oh to be an animal owned by tanner. The plants really bring everything together for me, everything seems so bare and sparse until all the green is added. Not to mention the colorful rocks and darker mulch!

Lime stone also keeps the ph from dropping, high Ph in the beginning of a pond build, but later it will be crashing and the limestone is awesome to counteract that drop.

Inspiring video. I am just starting almost from scratch to landscape my entire yard. I had planned on taking advantage of a shady corner for a woodland garden. From your example, I see I need a water feature.

It's crazy that during construction these ponds look terrible but at some point everything comes together and they end up quite easy on the eyes. Great job, the finished product is so far removed from the stock ponds used. A great demonstration of your skills!

Semi exotic waterfowl, gamebirds and doves look fantastic in setups like this, as well, plants can be a bit more tricky and the have to be full enclosed.
