Two Connecticut barbers are being hailed as heroes for saving a little girl from running into a busy intersection. Apparently, the toddler slipped away from her mom at a bus stop down the street from the barbershop. The mother reportedly took her eye off her daughter for just a second and did not even realize she was gone. Osvaldo Lugo and Rafael Santana were taking care of customers when they ran out the door to save the toddler. Inside Edition’s Les Trent has more.
One second is literally all it can take for your child to go into danger.
It wasn't just one second. The mother admitted at the end of this video that she still didn't realize the child was missing. She was on her cell phone.
@@onestepfromsuccess people needa pay attention to their kids bro 😭.
@@TaffyTheAlmightyI don’t know how you don’t realize your child has ran away/ left. Something is off
yep
One second? Lmao. Probably took her like 5 minutes. If it was one second, she coulda easily catched up to her the same way the guys did.
If you’re waiting for a bus with a small child always hold their hand even if you take a phone call.
Reminds me of those child leashes some people use and I can see why.
@@WaterspoutsOfTheDeepjust thinking the same thing.
And how do you not know your child had slipped away
@@KIMjB72 Sounds like someone has never been a parent.
@@WaterspoutsOfTheDeep Who???? Me????? I have 2 grown kid's with their own families. Soo like I said how do you not know your child is gone ,if the child was right by you and on top of that the bus stop is at a busy highway, and you don't pay attention to keep your child safe.
My daughter was a road runner. While i was pregnant, i had to run after her so many times that i gave up and bought a backpack leash. Running after a toddler while being 6 months pregnant is hard work.
they have small feet and run just as fast as little piglets people need to realize that . if you'd toppled over OMG
Damn I can imagine how hard it is.
@@PHlophe lol
@@PHlophe i lost my phone once because she ran off, and i dropped my phone while chasing her and didn't realize until i called it later, thinking i forgot it somewhere in the car. Thankfully, it was picked up by a schools superintendent.
@@hazelmint6671 What was sad about the whole thing is that she laughed every time i caught her... too young to understand the dangers of her little game.
Not all heroes wear cape. Sometimes they put capes backwards on people.
NICE ONE
Good one !!!! 😊😅
😁❤
Underrated
ok soggy twas good
This is why parents have those leash thingies.
yeah i still remember that. i had see that mother had two leash on two kids while i was in high school after basketball game, we went at burger king that our route chilly for bit before going home that moment. i saw it make my think little weird see that parent leash on their own kids mean them had problems with kids alway will leave their side while parent don’t even pay attention. now that maybe some parent had situation like that yeah that girl need leash on because we don’t know what hell girl think……
They have had them for decades too. My mom had me wear those very often when i was young cuz i always used to run off, dunno why i ran off so often though.
I used to think that they were stupid.... but now I'm a parent with a toddler that like to randomly run. I can keep up with her, but if I had another, I might get one.😆 I get it now.
People love to make fun of child leashes and be like “is your kid a dog?” But being a parent is hard and no one’s perfect. One little slip up from your attention and a kid is running off somewhere as fast as they can. Tethers can mitigate these risks. They should be normalized!
I don't support leashes on humans, not even baby ones. I'm glad my parents never leashed me. I was a good kid.
1 second? That little girl ran a block and a half and the mom is nowhere in sight! Looks more like a minute or two. The fact that 2 men actively cutting someone's hair inside a building we're able to notice speaks volumes towards the the supervision capabilities of this mother.
you expect to much of single mothers
Exactly…that’s what I just wrote as well. If she only looked away for 1 second she would have seen the child running away and chased after her and probably caught her…but she’s no where. I used to have to chase after my son because he’s autistic and used to take off running if he got out of my grip….that happened in 1 second and I was always right behind him tying to catch him….then I finally bought a child leash so he couldn’t do that anymore. But yes….there’s no way she was paying any attention at all to her child for this to happen.
She ran through the parking lot around the building where the barbershop is. She travelled approximately 85 yards before the men stopped her. She may have very likely been making a left turn down the sidewalk to where her mother was at the bus stop. Either way these men did the right thing.
she was probably on the phone gossiping about her babydaddy
@@starshine3588My dad snatched me up so many times, saving me from myself. You have to always be aware of your child. I see parents letting their children run off. You keep your child by your side until they mature enough to stay by your side. Hopefully this mother is better because of this incident.
Announcer says mom took her eyes off the child for 1 second, but barbers say when they found mom a few minutes later, mom had not realized the little girl had slipped away. So, she didn't realize her daughter was even missing for a few MINUTES until the barbers located the mom. Taking your eyes off a child for 1 second is understandable, but not knowing the child is even missing for a few minutes is not acceptable.
Exactly
Dude not everything is meant literally. “Took my eyes off for a second” doesn’t LITERALLY mean one second lmfao
@@SarcasticPixieregardless, doesn't change the fact that the mom didn't notice for a min or so
When I heard him say that, I said parents almost always say they took their eyes for a second even when it’s a minute or two. Which is dangerous especially when you’re In John public
@@SarcasticPixie Then people should say what they mean, and mean what they say to avoid any type of confusion, regardless of how literally or figuratively one is speaking!! It's really not complicated.
Look Sharp Barbershop? Those two barbers most definitely lived up to their store’s name! They’re perceptive for noticing that loose toddler on the street outside, and good job for them at that.
That’s what I was thinking!
🙏🙏🙏
Ikr that’s a brilliant name 😂
An exemplary of beautiful heart and soul any society would want to have. Bravo guys!
A barber saved my life when I was 3 in San Diego. Id escaped the daycare I was at and he found me....gave me a piece of gum, a trim and got me safely back to the dc. 47 years ago.
Your hair must have looked bad for him to give you a trim before returning you! 😂
Funny story 😅 thanks for sharing
Damn she can run fast! lol God Bless them for them being quick thinkers.
But not fast enough.
i would hope a grown man can run faster
And quick runners!
Fr, put her on the track she future Olympics 😂😂😂
That girl was running towards traffic like she wanted to end it all.
That’s was funny 😂😂😂glad they saved her

That’s more than a minute. How do you not know your child is by your side and out of your view? 🤦🏽♀️
She was probably looking at her phone.
Hero indeed..blessings guys 👍🏾 👏 ❤
Not just a Hero, a savior❤
Lugo is the nicest person! He does so much for the community. Look Sharp Barber Shop is a wonderful spot :)
“The look sharp barber shop” These guys definitely earn the name 😂
I was laughing at that name too 😂
As a kid I used to hate it when my mom held my hand all the time, as an adult I’m so glad she did.
How do you not realize your child isn’t with you?? Out in a public at a bus stop?
she was on tick tock. Obvious.
Fr, they said she turned her back for 1 second. That girl ran almost 2 blocks and the mother is nowhere in sight. Yet 2 guys cutting someone's hair inside a building were able to notice and get to her before the mom?
@@grossguy9570that seems sketchy 👀
She wasn’t paying any attention to her child at all….otherwise you would see her running right behind the child trying to catch her. She was probably on her phone.

How do you not realize your daughter is not next to you, ESPECIALLY on a busy road? So much for parenting.
Your using that wrong. Toddlers can run fast.
@@KC-rp5se Yes...when my son was 4 yrs old..I was in the kitchen feeding my baby girl ..his sister..she waa about 9 months old..he waa inside..while I was feeding her...he opens our front door ..walks out.... My next door neighbor comes to tell me she saw him walking down to our shopping center.. ( his dad did a simular thing when he was littke) This walk was quite away aways from our home What upset me this lady and I were friendly..my son often played with her son She went by a child clearly alone at age 4 walking by himself and did nothing but come and tell me Shortly after I found him in our patk back near our house My mother had 6 girls...always said you need eyes in back of your head.. Really !! Very scarey indeed ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It can definitely happen. When I was 2 I followed my older siblings out the door unbeknownst to them and my mom. They didn't realize I was behind them until 2 blocks and one busy street crossing later. My mom was mortified.
HOw do you not know how kids can get away. Do ppl just comment on stuff they know nothing about? intersting
Right, I'm wondering if she had other kids she was distracted by or something, or she wasn't used to having her child with her during travel. Because there's no way that if a toddler was your ONLY responsibility you would just lose them at a bench on the side of the road lol. Like what could you have been so preoccupied with unless you had other kids?
Kids move at lightening speed. So happy think look out the window when they did. Saved that babies life. It only takes a minute. We’ve all been there.
she took her eyes off her for a second but 5 minutes later still hadnt realised she was missing , oh lord , that makes zero sense
I mean, you can clearly tell that she is just making excuses.
Mother looked away for a second... then where the heck was she when she looked back "a second" later? That little girl was fast but not that fast.
Fr, that girl ran almost 2 blocks and the mother doesn't even show up on camera. Yet a man in the middle of cutting someone's hair was able to notice and get to her first?
@@grossguy9570 She ran through the parking lot around the building where the barbershop is. She travelled approximately 85 yards before the men stopped her. Shoutout to these guys for being aware and on their toes. Shame on the mother for being negligent.
I think a majority of it is natural selection. I know it might be messed up, but that's the reality.
I like how they both reacted without any hesitation
That man legit scrambled down those stairs. 😂
In all fairness, that kid was booking it! 🏃♀️
So were the barbers 😂
Dang! Those guys should be cops or ER nurses! They reacted so fast to save that little girl it's amazing!!
Thank you guys for avoiding a child getting hurt or worse. God bless both of you 🙏
Thank God someone was watching that child even when the parent wasn't..
There’s no way that this was only for one second, you never let go of your child at any cost at this age, she better consider herself lucky that her child survived
Cesito Jr, as a dad all it takes is indeed a second. daughter did that on me in 2001 when she was a toddler. i was just a teenage dad. and i had stamina . still took me 10 min to be reunited with her.
@@PHlopheand I hoped you learned from that negligent moment as a teenage parent I’m sure you never take your eyes off your kids now
Wow…watching this sent chills down my spine. That little girl was heading DIRECTLY into that traffic. Good going guys👍
She is quick!
Adrenaline.
and suicidal, apparently, why would she be running straight into traffic? she's plenty old enough to realize the danger
Kids have lots of energy. Toddlers can be in the middle of a street if they got out alone.
@@lauranolastnamegiven3385you don’t know how old she is, all they say is that she’s a toddler, size is not always indicative of age. I’m sure she’s been told before but this could be her first big lesson about the danger of that, as this actually is something that you learn as a toddler. There could also be a developmental or intellectual disability… my friends non verbal 4 year old with autism wouldn’t/doesnt know any better, running is just fun for him atp.
@@travelback5700 she's not a toddler
Teach your children not to run into traffic and hold your childs hand! Kids need to be watched at all times.
I swear toddlers just live in self-destruct mode
Ikr. Dangerous little creatures, and then get mad when you're actively protecting them from hurting themselves 💀😂
1:32 "A day at the barbershop ends with a close SHAVE" GREAT PUN!😊

Great job guys!!! Mom is full of it.
if the mom was running behind or at least trying to get someone to help (if she wasn't physically capable) it would be one thing.. but to see nothing but tumbleweeds behind this little girl, says a lot about the mom's priorities.
Really shouldn't talk about your mom like that. Smh.
My heart is so happy for these two heros who saved without a hesitation
Heroes can be ANYONE & come from ANYWHERE ❤❤❤. Thanks to those barbers who saved that young girl 👧

“Took her eye off of her For 1 second!” Hmmm okay but it takes 2 seconds to run after her with all your strength.

The observation skills on the man who identified she was in danger!!! And the speed on Lugo!!!! You legendsss!!! Made me cry you're such absolute legends!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤️❤️
One second all right. Literally the go to response. That little girl was *centimeters* from that truck. 🙏🏾🙏🏾

1:28 I love the head tilt there. "Please brother, stop waving around those clippers so close to my head"
I don't use the word "Love" loosely .But I love them both for being so attentive and fast in going after that lil girl...❤
Kids that run off like that tend to be on a leash, which is what this mother is gonna need now since her daughter can't behave. I never did that when I was that child's age, always taught to not wander off and strangers would take me and I would never see mom again. Always keep an eye on your kids folks.
I know toddlers run off all the time, but I was still kinda suprised to see her running TOWARDS the traffic. Most toddlers would see the danger in it imo, but I guess not all toddlers though...
So thankful for those Barbers!! Well done gentlemen. Heroes for sure!! Many thanks!!❤❤🙏🙏
WOWWWW....Real Life Angels caught on camera!!!....GREAT AMERICAN HEROES ...THANK YOUUUU ALL 🙏 💞 💖
What i loved was how fast they saw and reacted, many people might have taken a second to process it, but the first guy saw the kid, realized somehting wasn't right, immediately checked to see if a parent was seconds behind her, and as soon as he said nope, the other guy had the door open and was down the street after her in just a few seconds... Bravo for both being that type of person, good to see, and admirable to see how fast they react to a situation that invovled a kids safety. Definitely deserve the praise...
Absolutely! I like how you broke it down, too… these two men that were INSIDE the barbershop, mind you… Noticed the child, ran after the child, and saved the child’s life all before her mother even knew she was missing? Sorry… ‘MOM’, 🙄 but that was a lot longer than “one second.”
