Two Connecticut barbers are being hailed as heroes for saving a little girl from running into a busy intersection. Apparently, the toddler slipped away from her mom at a bus stop down the street from the barbershop. The mother reportedly took her eye off her daughter for just a second and did not even realize she was gone. Osvaldo Lugo and Rafael Santana were taking care of customers when they ran out the door to save the toddler. Inside Edition’s Les Trent has more.

    • People love to make fun of child leashes and be like “is your kid a dog?” But being a parent is hard and no one’s perfect. One little slip up from your attention and a kid is running off somewhere as fast as they can. Tethers can mitigate these risks. They should be normalized!

    • Exactly…that’s what I just wrote as well. If she only looked away for 1 second she would have seen the child running away and chased after her and probably caught her…but she’s no where. I used to have to chase after my son because he’s autistic and used to take off running if he got out of my grip….that happened in 1 second and I was always right behind him tying to catch him….then I finally bought a child leash so he couldn’t do that anymore. But yes….there’s no way she was paying any attention at all to her child for this to happen.

  • Announcer says mom took her eyes off the child for 1 second, but barbers say when they found mom a few minutes later, mom had not realized the little girl had slipped away. So, she didn't realize her daughter was even missing for a few MINUTES until the barbers located the mom. Taking your eyes off a child for 1 second is understandable, but not knowing the child is even missing for a few minutes is not acceptable.

  • Kids that run off like that tend to be on a leash, which is what this mother is gonna need now since her daughter can't behave. I never did that when I was that child's age, always taught to not wander off and strangers would take me and I would never see mom again. Always keep an eye on your kids folks.

    • I know toddlers run off all the time, but I was still kinda suprised to see her running TOWARDS the traffic. Most toddlers would see the danger in it imo, but I guess not all toddlers though...

  • What i loved was how fast they saw and reacted, many people might have taken a second to process it, but the first guy saw the kid, realized somehting wasn't right, immediately checked to see if a parent was seconds behind her, and as soon as he said nope, the other guy had the door open and was down the street after her in just a few seconds... Bravo for both being that type of person, good to see, and admirable to see how fast they react to a situation that invovled a kids safety. Definitely deserve the praise...

    • Absolutely! I like how you broke it down, too… these two men that were INSIDE the barbershop, mind you… Noticed the child, ran after the child, and saved the child’s life all before her mother even knew she was missing? Sorry… ‘MOM’, 🙄 but that was a lot longer than “one second.”

Half way through the year after a sports day he did a runner across the school oval luckily their were some teenagers on the other side that heard me yelling "catch him" and they did just that and returned my son to me. Thank God.!
