@Gappie Al Kebabi ?
Nice i see what you did there
I can never get over how amazing that one long uninterrupted shot following Henry and Karen into the club is (Edit) Rest easy Ray, you gave us so many incredible performances. Gone too damn soon.
The oner! If you haven't seen it, a channel called Every Frame a Painting did a piece on one-shot scenes.
I work in a café. Sometimes when I'm taking drinks to a table on the other side of the café, I pretend I'm doing a one shot Scorsese scene and narrate it in my head and give Italian mafia names to all the people in the café.
Me too!
Have u seen 1917?
@@coffieman1001 this is coooool!
I’m gonna go get the papers, get the papers.
😅
No. Go get your shinebox
And go get the yeyo too
You know? I was just watching the Godfather last night and in the final scene when Connie argues with Mike after the baptism massacre, she says: look at the papers, the papers. I wonder if Jimmy Two Times is a reference to that scene.
Just three small onions. Two big cans of tomatoes
I can’t imagine a world without Martin’s films. The day he goes is going to hit me like a truck.
we'll always have his films. he'll live in through them long after we're gone too
His legacy is something that will never die
Ikr
Same here dude
Same. I can’t think of that.
The only thing i hate about this is that it isn't 2 hours long.
*2 hours 28 minutes
That’s the best part of it was 6 hours I would sit through the whole thing
respect cinema
The perfect mafia film. The Godfather glorified the mafia in a romantic way but Goodfellas showed us what that life is really like, doesn’t sugar coat anything and shows you the gritty ness and scumbags involved.
@@cornusia excellent point. There is no politics or family dynamics with Goidfellas just the lower end on the street. But great film all the same
@@cornusia Not the bottom financially though. Even though they weren't even made, they made more money than most made men at the time (especially Jimmy, who was probably making boss level money).
Both films are really great in their own way.
Godfather literally shows just that lmao. Michael is forced to kill his own brother due to betrayal, I don’t see how that’s sugarcoating it.
@@flavio7180 sure, but it still shows the mafia in a romantic, glorified way, and it depicts Michael largely as a tragic figure (like you said, he "was forced" to kill his brother, he "was forced" to enter the life, etc.).
"You know, we always called each other goodfellas. Like you'd say to somebody: You're gonna like this guy, he's all right. He's a goodfella. He's one of us. You understand?". -Henry Hill

How can a movie have perfect directing, cinematography, cast and editing?
ok ok? It can. Also like the Godfather. And Taxi Driver
@@rahultej2248 it's some kind of Martin Scorsese's and Francis Ford Coppola's magic
Also, Whiplash and Citizen Kane, all 10/10 films.
Stanley kubrick
I would add There Will Be Blood in this list
Just heard about Ray Liotta’s passing and immediately went back to this. This is easily his most iconic role and he was the perfect choice for Henry Hill. R.I.P.
Marty should've won Best Director and Best Picture for this movie or "Raging Bull". Or both. But, you know how the Academy rolls.
raging bull is overrated. good movie but not nearly as good as scorseses masterpieces
Max Heller This is what I thought at first, but later realised, Raging Bull is NOT overrated. It is best Scorsese film. And one the greatest movie(if not the greatest) ever.
@@rahultej2248 that is your opinion and I respect it. care to explain why?
Max Heller Imagine how magnificent it is to the filmmaker to have deep introspection of himself along with delving deep into the character he is presenting. This is where always Scorsese shined. Even though he did not originally create the stories, he induced his auteur kind of soul. It is in the case of Raging Bull where his culmination his study of guilt, difficulty of redemption and his roots of New York, how masculinity drove the attitudes of Men and so much. But, it is not only auteur introspection which makes it great. It is purest expression of what cinema can be. And along with the film maker himself I can also feel the cinematic and philosophical mastery and it always inspires me.
@@maxheller7815 You can say it's overrated it's your opinion. But do you really think that Ordinary People (the movie that won Best Picture and Best Director in that year) was better than Raging Bull? Most people have never even heard of that film.
"As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster." R.I.P Ray Liotta.
Scorsese’s masterpiece 🙌
Every one of his movies is a masterpiece
Campana Manuel Except Boxcar Bertha😅
Campana Manuel the irishman? Probably his worst movie imo
Smuke the real big boy man So wrong, so wrong. How can you be so wrong? You can have your OPINION though.
Rahul Tej irishman was boring af, the actors were too old, wasn’t convinced at all. Look up the grocery store scene from it, killed the entire vibe for me. The movie tried too hard to be good and tried too hard to feel like casino or goodfellas.
0:01 "Will u take part in my live, my Love" 1:45 "Come here to my open arms" 2:01 "We can make our love" Many people were not realized if that lyric is match as the scene that u put on there. Amazing Job!
I like those little details made by the creator, goes unnoticed by many but it’s a great little detail
R. I. P Ray Liotta
I've seen this movie 100 times, own it on bluray, watched it on NETFLIX, on cable, even when its censored, and it still is a masterpiece. I never get bored of it and I didn't see this movie until my 20s
Yep.Like Godfather 1 and 2 it never seems to tire when rewatched.
Men I am 15 years old and I literally have seen this movie 6 times with every type of people my friends, cousins, girlfriend I just think everyone deserves to watch this masterpiece
@@carlotorreblanca6486 u just said ur 15 & u have girlfriend?
My favorite shot ever from this film is the scene of Karen and Henry crying after Henry doesn’t find any of the coke, that scene is the epitome of helplessness.
Do The Beauty of the Wolf of Wall Street
Rest in Peace, Ray Liotta.
RIP, Ray and Paul. 😞
*RAY LIOTTA* aka *Henry Hill/Tommy Vercetti* The man who gave us two of the greatest performances in the history of cinema and video games. I still can't believe we just lost this titan, feels numb and unreal.
Goodfellas is so well shot, 10 people could make a compilation to the same song with different shots, and they would all look excellent.
0:18 is my favorite movie shot of all time
It’s is one of the best
1:14 Iconic
I would prefer "Then he kissed me", "Atlantis" or "Layla"s instrumental part as behind music. But anyway a truly masterpiece. Thanks! 👌😍
or "Rags to Riches"
kalle Rags to Riches would have been awesome.
@@kalle3879 Yeah, that's also great. 👍
Layla would be the best choice.
Life is but a dream is a perfect song.
Scorsese at the very peak of his powers. Pace, storytelling, editing, structure, energy, music. It's all tight, electric and sucks you in. It's made to seem effortless, but it's the careful work of a dedicated perfectionist craftsman at work. Bravado film-making.
RIP Ray Liotta
RIP Ray Liotta. First video I came to after the news. 😢😢😢
The great Ray Liota died today! Rest in peace..
Always love that shot of the garlic. I feel you should have also added the dolly zoom with DeNiro and Liotta in the restaurant and Pesci shooting at the camera. Both memorable moments. Nevertheless I loved the choice of music, chosen shots and other videos you've done. Keep it up :)))
I agree mate, the whole cooking scene in the prison was fantastic
There couldn't be a better song to describe the beauty of this film.
One of the best films I´ve ever seen in my life. Such a masterpiece.

undoubtedly one of scorsese’s masterpieces.
Every single scene in this movie is perfect
The definitive movie of the 90s.
Rest in peace Ray Liotta!
Goodfellas, Scarface, The Godfather. Best gangster movies of all time. edit : American Gangster too. Flawless movie.

Once Upon a time in America is better than scarface in my opinion
Rip Ray.
Such different meanings/feels when you’re just seeing the shot without the movies audio. I know this whole channel is kinda based on that but Goodfellas felt different for some reason. Great work!
Rest in peace Ray. ❤️
Oh Scorsese. What a great opening scene in the film also. Lovely video man.

Thanks for using this music and this cinematographic of the film, I like how certain things are darker in color than I remember and also certain things are more close up than I remember, like the revolver at 2:25. Great job!!!!!

It’s really strange that Scorsese directed Cape Fear after this. Both great films but the contrast in quality and cinematography of both film is significantly noticeable
