  • Dont do a job by half. Remove the TB and remove the IAC valve and the TPS. This way you clean it thoroughly including all ports a pcv port and idle air passages

  • Yes but if you do that with a 2007+ escalade or other vehicles you will need to do a throttle relearn. This means you have to take it to the dealer so they can make your ecu relearn the throttle. Otherwise the rpm will be at 2000 at idle after the cleaning which is usually worse than it was.

  • If it is that simple, most car workshops would have closed shop long long ago. There are very minute petrol and air flow channels within the carburettor. The carburettor needs to be taken apart to clean thoroughly. When assembled back, need to tune. Of course, modern cars have done away with carburettors.

  • I had to replace my air box, it was not connecting to the throttle body properly, sometimes you might need to check how the seal is on the connection, the plastic can warp overtime causing a vacuume leak

    • I think she meant 5 litres per 100 km. That's the silly unit we use. Preferred mpg. Also I'm pretty sure my mechanic would charge me 50 bucks for this, if anything, but he does have a fancier set of bricks.

    • Key at accessory (ACC) position does not allow fuel injection and no sparking. In this position pressing the gas only open the throttle valve.

  • If I saw dirt like that in the throttle valve I would change the air cleaner after cleaning! If this job is done by a service centre the cost would be for about 30 minutes maximum. Some dealers have a one hour minimum charge. A job like this would probably cost about $50 for the labour and about $40 for the replacement air cleaner. Nowhere near $3000!
