  • Awesome, miss the Northwest. I have to say I find it funny how people always talk about the age of the deer they're seeing. It kind of sucks because we hunters love the idea of shooting "a mature buck", but a lot of ungulate biologists feel that its next to impossible to actually judge the age of a deer just by looking at it (other than a juvenile). Good show though!

    • Go to QDMA.com and read the articles. It's not an exact science but with enough practice and experience you can definitely put bucks into rough age classes just like you can put people into 20's 30's 40's 50's etc.

  • Gooner I am a hunter last season I didnt yell or hi five ect.... When I got my doe, I waited the 15 mins before moving to approach the animal. .... Mind u I was alone. Just sayin all the hunting videos I watched people whisper long after the fact, I think it's just to add "the suspense" for KZhead. ! Not hating just kinda funny.

    • +wes lawrence I have no doubt that your theory holds true. Having said that it's better to be quiet than the opposite. You also get to see a lot more if you are a bit more reserved. I arrowed a decent buck that I was watching coming to my grunting and rattling a good 20 minutes (felt like two life times) a few years ago when it got into my planned distance(s), as soon as I released the arrow or hit it, a beautiful buck that had snuck up on both of us shot out from under my stand and stood broadside watching where the other deer had gone for a good minute or so. IF I was a bit more seasoned and patient I might had a once in a lifetime double but sadly I didn't as I wasn't efficient enough to get an arrow set up for the second buck. I always take my quiver off and stick it somewhere stupid .... or at least I used to ; ). Moral of the story is ...... the hunt is not over until everything settles. Another time, I have had two does walk in and stand at the exact spot where I had shot a buck maybe 10 minutes before (bow), while I was waiting the customary 15 to 20 minutes before tracking. I had to wait a good 45 minutes before they moved off to go look for the buck, I could have shot those doe, 10 times over if I wanted to. Both these situations wouldn't have happened if I had not been silent. Actually I wait a lot more if I wasn't absolutely sure of a perfect shot. Also I rather see and hear the whispers after a kill rather than whooping as the former looks better to a none hunter ..... who's gonna shit all over us anyways. It's better PR. Good luck this season buddy !!!!

  • I shot my first buck this year I'm 16, it was a medium bodied 3 point lol, he broke off half of one fighting, and had about a 1/8th inch droptine but it had to be an inch or somehing to count as a point

  • I never understand why people whisper after the shot is taken ?

    @Cashthebulldog@Cashthebulldog9 жыл бұрын
    • +wes lawrence Great question. Because if you high five, scream and celebrate (ike you very may feel like doing) that wounded animal is going to run on adrenaline for sometimes miles. Even the best shot animal will go a ways if disturbed. If you stay quiet it may just lay down and die 40 or 50 yards from where it was shot. I realize this sounds not quite right when you think about an animal that's just being wounded but trust me on this as you will learn in time to come. Good luck.

  • whats with the whispering after u sshoot the deer??

    @skipfitz4017@skipfitz40178 жыл бұрын
    • +skip fitz some times we have to whisper incase the the deer we shot hasn't fully dispatched, if they hear us they could possibly run farther away and make the recovery much more difficult. Best rule of thumb is to keep your voice low until you have successfully recovered him. Other times where we know the animal went down quickly and still whisper can be because we don't want to spook other near by wild game so we can hunt that location in the near future.

    • right even after u recover the deer u still whisper

      @skipfitz4017@skipfitz40178 жыл бұрын
    • Hi Skip, again sometimes if we plan to hunt that same area in the near future we sometimes try to keep our voices down, but it was something that was brought to our attention many years ago and one we have tried to adjust since then. Season 12 is airing now and we have just started filming Season 13! Hope you get a chance to catch the new episodes. Good hunting.

  • I can't believe in this day and age that men actually still do this. I can understand that some people who live in the north who are short on food would kill an animal for food, out of necessity, but as a sport, I think it's evil.

    @catherinemelnyk1194@catherinemelnyk11947 жыл бұрын
    • "Assuming" and not educating ones self is one of the main problems today. May we recommend next time you ask us if we were hunting for food or sport, if you had we could have told you 100% of that deer meat was packed out and shared between many families. Eating wild game meat is THE most ethical way humans can consume meat. And eating meat is not wrong, it may be your choice not to eat meat and that's fine and we respect your decision, but don't put us down for our decision to ethically and legally harvest our meat our selves.

    • Canada in the Rough Exactly some people love the taste of Fresh meat and not the processed stuff from the grocery store

      @shardofkingdoms9816@shardofkingdoms98166 жыл бұрын
    • It dont matter if the hunter had a legitimate medical excuse to harvest their own meat. Such as an allergic reaction to store bought meat, these tree hugging, liberals, simply cannot keep there opinions to themselves. And there eyes from wandering over here to this site. Knowing they are going to see something that doesn't agree with them. But yet here they are witnessing this "horrible evil". And they just cannot refrain from putting their two cents in. When there is not one single subscriber gives a flying s--t about what they think about how we choose to feed our families or if we spend our hard earned money just to be trophy head hunters and donate the meat. So here's my two cents worth, if its so "evil" then by all means DO NOT WATCH!!!

    • Why do you watch then? Thats the real mystery. I dont like soap operas so i dont watch them same with the news.
