    • I turn 51 today man, over in the UK they had a pretty sick awesome BMX scene back in the day. They still have a pretty cool scene these days I see, especially in the Ebike scene. A lot of us older fellas like me, I have arthritis and COPD and still wanna have fun on a bike have ebikes Without destroying our old bodies. I went jumping for a couple hours yesterday, a little trail riding that reminds me of riding BMX racing tracks as well as dirt biking without all the loud noise and gas and weight of a motorcycle.

  • I think it's cool Gary Turner and his son are building frames again. Not sure how much they are but it's just cool he doing what he does best. I remember my brother's Huntington Beach pro performer. Chrome , pink decals. Full pads. Pink brake cables. It was amazing.

    • Yeah, your brothers bike does sound amazing 🙌 The Gary/Craig Turner bikes are generally $800 to $1000 for the frame and forks alone. They are hand made by Craig at the highest quality, so they are a bit pricey. It’s cool that they sometimes do collabs with the modern GT brand too!

I plan on doing some racing this summer so I bought a 24" SE Floval Flyer for that, then I saw the 26" SE "DJ Ripper" dirt jumper and it should be here tomorrow. Hoping to lock down a 2Hip Pork here shortly. I was fortunate enough in the 80's to get my Trickstars. I still have both my OG Futuristic Black and a Lavender frame and forks. RIDE ON

The Last bike i bought was in 2000, I boought it after saving money in highschool. it was a Dyno BMX Trail bike. it was like 220$. all chrome. super sick..... It got stolen while chained up at school, I was devastated. Super lame lol Apparently GT was born in my hometown of Fullerton CA something i never knew until recently.

  • Back in 1987 my local bike shop PJ 's Cycle Center in Lake Mary Florida had a beautiful GT Pro Performer frame and fork in Dayglo Orange. As a getting out of middle school present my folks had PJ 's build me a custom bike with that GT Pro Performer frame and fork and I had Mongoose 48 spoke free track rims that had the locking back free wheel so you can ride backwards which I learned actually a year or so later. I would later ride for PJ 's Cycle Center as a sponsor and even got to meet & ride with team Haro with Ron Wilkerson, Dave Nourie & Brian Blyther, that did a sick wall ride at the Fashion Square Mall in Orlando over double doors like a channel and almost bit the dust when his back rim hung up , but saved it. Sadly, I sold that frame and fork online a couple years ago cleaning out shed because I am pretty riddled with COPD and degenerative disk disease so I didn't think I'd ride much anymore. I actually bought a 26 inch Rattan Challenger E bike that reminds me of my 1988 Haro Master I got after that GT With that low top tube and kind of slanted frame design. You have a beautiful bike there, my problem is I was always about Eddie Fiola height, 5 foot 6 at best so even my 26 inch Rattan ebike can be a bit of a tall horse when it comes to size with me. I was mostly a flat lander some street in jumping just like you and I'm wondering if I could cherry pick and do all my favorite tricks with a 26 inch BMX freestyle bike I did on a 20 inch back in 1987 to 1989 when I used to compete in the AFA Florida series. I was imagining doing a boomerang with 26 inch rims and crashing because of the height difference in the spinning/timing would be different. I even saw RL Osborne's Channel how he had a custom frame meticulously built over and over again and he even got a few of these 26 inch red line frames, ironically his signature series. I love your channel man!

    • Wow, thanks for sharing such cool stories. Man, a dayglo orange pro performer from back in the day is the stuff dreams are made of. 🤩 Sorry to hear that your health issues has kept you from riding like you used to, but cool that the e-bike seems to be a good alternative. There are some guys who do some pretty sick stuff on a 26, but I think for most riders, 26” is just too big for classic flatland tricks. Glad you found the channel. Thanks for watching. 👊

  • Maaaaaan, you’ve got my nostalgia kickin’! I grew up riding BMX in the late ‘70s/early ‘80s, and the bug hit again in the 2000s. Not only do I still have my Mongoose 20” from 1981, but I’ve assembled a small collection in the last decade or so…..Diamond Back, Cycle Pro, Torker, and two Mongooses, all from the mid ‘80s, my sweet spot. Enter 2022!…..I got the hots for a cruiser. I ordered a 2022 Redline SQB26 “Squareback” 26”. It has those famous v-bars, an aluminum ‘gusset’ style frame, and 180mm Flight Cranks. It’s other wise well equipped, but I’ll be changing a few things over time. I also just built a 24” SE So Cal Flyer. And because I built it, I was able to set it up exactly how I wanted, bolt by bolt. It’s a killer BMX cruiser! If you haven’t tried a 24”, you SHOULD. It’s the perfect middle ground between a classic 20” and a 26”. 👍🏼👍🏼

    • That’s so awesome 🙌 Those 26” Redlines look fantastic, and I know they have a great reputation in the community. Coincidentally, I just got a 24” Monza BMX a couple weeks ago and I’m totally in love with it. I made a video about it where I came to pretty much the same conclusion as you about it being a perfect middle ground. Last year, I built up a 20” S&M Dagger also custom piece by piece, and out of the 3 sizes, I think 24” is my sweet spot. 👊 👊 Thanks so much for watching and commenting. I love hearing experiences of like minded folks 👍

I agree about wondering why they shipped them with so many black parts. Maybe it's that they want to have their cake and eat it too, in the sense that they want to appeal to the nostalgia of us older guys while still appealing to the younger generation where black parts are the standard. But yeah, I think they should have just kept them more old school looking by sticking with the original color schemes.

This is modeled off a 1986 version. And also, it’s my understanding that these 2017 26” performer frames are the same as the 2018 26” pro performer frames. (Although the newer 26” frames come with gyro tabs pre-drilled.) So in my mind, it’s close enough to add the pro stickers on mine 🤣 But thanks again for the feedback 👊 👍

It was easy to reassemble, but I did need to go out and buy a set of tools in the metric system to reattach parts. Use lubricant (WD-40 works well) on screw threads and hinges before re-assembling.(NOTE: Do Not Throw Away Any Of The Packaging Until After Assembly Because Some Of The Packaging Contains Small Parts That You Will Need To Reattach Parts!!!)Took it to a bike kitchen for fine tuning afterwards, and for refilling the tires (they'd lost some air during shipping) and then practiced riding on it. It fits me perfectly at 5'4" with the seat at the lowest possible setting--would not recommend for anyone shorter, as it may be difficult to get on and off the bike without assistance of some kind. The aluminum body is beautifully welded together--the only thing that irks me somewhat is some of the plastic parts, but oh well. Not too experienced with bikes (haven't owned one in years) but if you're not willing or are unable to spend $600+ on another bike, I would say this is a good way to get started. Just check everything before you go out riding--air levels in the tires, wobbling of the seat, handlebars, or pedals, loose screws/parts, you know, as it will happen over time. Common sense. Good luck to ya, and hope my review helps.

    • I’ve never considered it. There’s possibly a way with some adapters or something, but there’s no spot in the rear to natively attach a derailleur. Interesting idea. Thanks for the comment 👍🏼

    • Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately, I sold the seat post on eBay last year.
