This may be the end of the Lightnings playoff prominence, they just seem outclassed against Florida.

Not enough is said about what a solid player Anton Lundell is. Dude deserves a shout out.
He has been really impressive since the calendar changed to 2024. He's mini-Barkov, an excellent 2-way player with elite defensive skills.
Right!! Kid plays hard and really shows how deep this team is.
Ever since he joined the team they won the presidents trophy and then you saw what happened last year. Good luck charm lol
He has got right in on that second line with Bennett out. He is the future 2C.
Florida sure looks like a playoff team.
They are at 100%, very dangerous, they deserve to win the cup, but it will be difficult vs the west winner

Florida needed this, if anything but to prove to everyone -- ESPECIALLY THEMSELVES -- that they are no longer in the Lightning's shadow. Good job, CATS.
Feels like the entire series hinged on that crazy save bobrovsky made in game 2.
The Panthers are on a mission. They didn't relent at all. I had them winning this series, but I didn't have them up 3-0. Doing it all with Bennett out too.
Shannon I wanted to take a second to (firstly thank you for the content) say your recaps are great, but your commentary that is intertwined into the videos is even better. The way you are able to break down events in the game to an understandable and easily digestible segment is amazing. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I would love to see more commentary attached to these highlights because it really is a treat hearing your opinion on players, coaches, how the team is reacting to things, adapting or not adapting, and then of course your general feeling on the states of and the outcomes of each series. Keep it up man and thank you

Never expected to win this series against Florida thought the Bruins would have been a far more advantageous opponent. That being said never thought this series wouldn't be competitive. So now do the Bolts retool? I would think that means not resigning Stamkos...let him go off and play for a contender while the team works through its issues and they will use his cap$ to bring in some younger building blocks...So will Saturday be Stamkos last game in Tampa? It's been a great run and he certainly has become the teams greatest player.
Flordia looks like the best team in the East
I still think Carolina is likely the top East team, but it’s hard to tell with them playing the Islanders.
Paul Maurice wasn't kidding when they won a round or two last year and said that the experience from the series put his team ahead by years. Now I don't have to tell them, they know what it takes. Impressive stuff being up 3-0 on this Tampa team. Hopefully the rest of the series is still a good watch
Florida needs to slay their dragon(Tampa) Leafs have 2 dragons to slay (Boston & Florida) I am going with Florida as a Lightning fan this year

I wouldn't be too hard on Tampa. I could see them winning a seven-game series against many teams in the East--they're just up against one of the two (Florida and Carolina) who seem to be on another level right now.
Tkachuk is the total difference maker in this series.
Not really. Bobrovsky and Tampa’s complete lack of effort defensively is the difference maker.
@@GWh135 You know who you have to thank for that? That's right, Tkachuk.

Coming from a panthers fan, Tampa doesn’t seem as cooked as a lot of people are making them out to be, these have been super tight games so far. We’re just closing them out in the end. Either way watching these two teams go against each other is such a treat.
Yeah had the matchup been boston vs tampa or tampa vs leafs we wouldn’t be talking about them as cooked in nearly the same way. The cats are just closing better and doing a good job to not get shaken
i was at the game and there were lightning fans mad that they didnt get enough calls. which is wild when tb had 4 power plays and fla had 0! people will always blame the refs no matter what.
They should be ashamed of themselves.
Man, those types of fans are only found in Tampa. Never in other arenas. You never hear that in Ft. Lauderdale.
Tkachuk is in his playoff mode right now, just like last year.
His one PK shift was excellent. The other PK guys were playing 3-4 mins.
I think the Panthers will easily beat either Boston or Toronto.
Preach. I think Boston is coming out of that series, and they'll come looking for revenge against the Panthers. Bruins swept the Panthers in the season series, so let's see what it will end up happening. P.S.: As a Panthers fan, it would be hilarious to see Boston losing to the Leafs.

@@choppergunner8650If you're Pissing off people Then you're doing something right The only reason they're p***** off is It's the panthers they don't look at us. As a legitimate team
Yes.
When even The Great One is pointing out how completely outmatched your squad looks, you know the writing's on the wall. This offseason, the Bolts need to do what the Pens and Caps were too stubborn to: appreciate the incredible run they had, but admit that it's time to retool and say goodbye to some of the old guard that helped make the Cup wins possible. Yes, it hurts, but it'll prove the difference between being back in contention in a few years and having to endure over a decade's worth of agonizing rebuilding. Just ask the Red Wings: the latter is _not fun._
As a cats fan, we wouldn’t be where we’re at without Tampa. They pushed us, and frankly humiliated us in that sweep after we won the presidents trophy. This series feels like a passing of the torch.
I was thinking it would be better if FL took the torch with force instead of just passing it, 3-0 looks like they are pretty forcefully taking it and Tampa doesn't get a choice. Series isn't done yet.
Couldn’t have said it any better
I think it could be a passing of the torch but it’s extremely hard to project if Florida could replicate the roughly past decade Tampa has had. They don’t have long term control on very many players, which is a blessing and a curse, flexibility can be great. However, which of these guys will chase the bag if and when they get their hardware and how does Florida re-tool around new pieces, they will also need a long term goalie solution, Vasy was in his early 20s when Tampa started this run, Bob is a great goalie but he’s 35. So yes, absolutely possible Florida is gonna be in this for the long haul, but too many moving pieces in their future to know.
You can't win on the road, you can't win at home, you can't win with a powerplay advantage of 4-0(!!!), and you're too cute with the puck to do anything with it most of the time. This is the kind of loss that Tampa needed to shake up the staffing they've had. Particularly Jeff Blashill, his schemes have been downright abominable this season.
Nhl record for most hits in a regulation game
Stamkos blocked Tarasenko not Tkachuck on the empty net shot attempt. Love the hard work and effort. I just couldn't sleep without saying something haha.
Florida's ascension has interestingly mirrored Tampa's decline. When the Bolts were looking to 3-peat, the Panthers pretty quietly won the president's trophy, then finally got the quality playoff experience with their run last year while Tampa gave Toronto their curse-breaker. Now Florida's in a new position - very solid record, dominant regular season, AND the experience of previous playoff runs. This team looks awfully hard to beat 4 times, I'd be scared if I were the rest of the playoff field...
An absolute beat down. As a Bolts fan, one team is starving for the Cup the other resting. To play well for only 25 minutes of 3 games is inexcusable. Coach Coop seemingly out of answers. It kills me but the Panthers are determined. An element of dirty but the reality can’t be denied. GG
We might be seeing the sun set on this version of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
My God the Cata are good. So, 5 power plays for Tampa and.. none for the Cats? Okay? Im sure there was no bias here. Tampa still was powerless.
There wasn’t really anything to call against Tampa, they were extremely disciplined but the defense is terrible and Bobrovsky saved the last 2 games.
@@GWh135 There were several hooks, trips, crosschecks that could've been called given some of the stuff they called on Florida. There was a sequence in the 2nd period where Paul literally crosschecked Forsling like 6 times right in front of the net, ref looking right at it, nothing. Pretty obvious there was an officiating bias here to try to get this series more competitive at 2-1.
eh florida plays kind of rough. i went to the game and i didnt think florida was getting snubbed of any calls majorly. maybe one of the lightning pp i thought was a soft call.
@rickyrougs That interference call on Forsling wasn't just soft. It was an embarrassment.
@dennislopez1272 so was the trip on Monty. Stamkos is one of the best skaters and that love tap he falls, give me a break.
As a Bolts fan, this sweep (and make no mistake, it will be a sweep) has been such an obvious slow burn over the last couple years. My personal take this season was that we would fall just short of making the playoffs this year, so better than I thought already. Have not been a JBB fan going back to 2021, and the reason has been more apparent since then. Congrats to the Panthers for playing us flawlessly this year, really stellar stuff by them, and best of luck in whichever rematch (Boston methinks) they get in round 2!
Great video need you going to the big board on a tnt or ESPN intermission
Congrats on 313k!
Just sad the run is over. Close games but the lightning just can’t win one. Would love a reverse sweep but it’s not happening. Just hope Toronto wins so the Bruins threw the division for nothing.

Thats my first jersey Shannon!
The wild part is the bolts are not washed up by any means. They're still incredible. The cats are just SO far ahead. I feel for Bolts fans, I just hope you all don't forget your team is still top tier, they just unfortunately ran into a cats team that is on a different level right now.
Thank u I agree!!! Florida is just doing everything that u need to do if u want to beat the lightning
They have to finally slay their dragon
It feels like an inverse of the last time these 2 faced off.
Let's go CATS!! I was pleasantly surprised with the PK defense against the best PK unit
i wouldnt say tampas window is closed but its closing. if they didnt play florida they could have easily beaten some of these other playoff teams. they are very good, just dont have that elite gear anymore.
Precisely, we'd easily be up 2-1 against Boston had they just beaten the senators
Bolts drew the short straw getting Florida for the first round. They’re just too good. If they meet up with the Rangers that’ll be an insane series.
Vasilevskiy playing the puck to wave off the Panthers' third icing in a row with about three minutes to go was what sealed it. Instead of a faceoff in the offensive zone and a chance to tie with the defense flailing to clear and Bobrovsky a little shaken from a minute or two before; there were forecheckers right there to disrupt the play and flip the momentum back to Florida.
Looks like TB is going out early again this year. Interesting after seeing your other video mentioning the passing of Bob Cole that Cooper in his postgame comments did a nice tribute to him and said he would not be a coach in the NHL if not for the broadcasts of Bob Cole and the passion for the sport. Worth seeing Cooper talk just for that. Not being Canadian but having long time broadcasters on my favorite teams I understand the connection completely as probably many do. Condolences to the Cole family.
Coach in-game interviews in this series are the best, because these are the two most candid and honest coaches in the league...very little coachspeak and more truth in their comments.
Down 0-3 in the series, well, couple of years ago there wouldn't be any doubts that Tampa can overcome this, this year - almost no chance
The sweeping sounds are getting louder…
Shannon, what are your thoughts about the Cats mot getting any power plays? I saw a few Bokrs penalties just flat-out ignored by Luxmore.
No doubt Tampa had their time and at their peak they were really good, but their depth from that championship team was clearly an important loss. As a panthers fan it’s our time and I just want the state of Florida to continue to come out of the east for years to come 🐆 ⚡️

84 to 64 was the amount of penalty minutes in game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final last year, but that number in HITS is even crazier!
and almost no injuries related to hits.
At least they got two cups and a third final. It was fun while it lasted. Having to switch out most of the bottom six every season really kills a cup winning team. Also, THAT trade keeps getting worse every day. Considering how good Lighting are at developing players that fits right into the team when called up, who knows what they could have got with those five draft picks?
either tampa gets president trophy ptsd or tampa gets revenge against bob.

Hopefully it’s a fruitful one.
agreed. first two games were 1 goal games. Its not like they are being beaten over the head 10-0. It took the save of the last 200 years of hockey to win game 2. Bob was using the dark side of the force to find that one. Tampa isn't a pushover or else they would the Wings. The Panthers still have to get one more win before its over.
At this point just give Florida the cup. No one is going to beat them. Guarenteed

For all those that say Tampa does turn it on in the playoffs, it was not going to happen this season. Whether it's puck luck, just plain bad plays and unfortunate mistakes from us we had little to control it wasn't enough of a valiant effort.

You added all the right peices like Duclair, Hagel and Paul, sold the kitchen sink for guys like Essyimont only to have your top line rely on drawing penalties to get the #1 PP in the league on the ice. Borderline amateur and embarrassing gameplan. Dont know who to blame but Stamkos seemed to suggest it wont work for game 4. Its not fooling anyone, especially the Panthers. Way to good for that, Go Bolts.

Colorado broke Tampa. Everyone was afraid of them in the playoffs, until the Avs gave the rest of the league the blueprint.
nah i just think the price of winning causes you to lose depth. harder and harder to reload every year.
All due respect, CO did not face the same team that had won two cups, McDonaugh, as an example was already a victim of the cap in 21-22. Add to that that in 22-23 Palat goes, then Killorn, Maroon, so on. Cap gonna cap, this has as much to do with an aging core and players leaving to more money elsewhere as it does with any kind of blueprint. Perbix, Dumba, Lilliberg, Sheary, Jeannot and Motte would likely not even sniff a roster spot from 2018-21. Nor would those teams have been hoping for heroics from rookies like Chaffee to be a difference maker. Edit: Goodness Tampa lost so much talent after 21 I also forgot Coleman, Goodrow and then lost Gourde to the expansion draft.
