Draining Massive Flood By Unclogging Drains, Big Whirlpools
Original Video • Draining a Massive Flo...
Update Video • Draining a Massive Flo...
I know you may be thinking those arrows are for finding the drains under a snowbank but the plows go right up against the curb as any good plow driver should. These arrows appeared at these drains after I reported this area to have constant flooding. The rest of the drains on the street are not marked so I assume it's flood-related if it was snow bank related I think they would have marked all of them, either way for snow or not they should have used a metal or concrete post in the ground because weather the arrows are covered with a flood or a layer of ice you won't be able to see them
I do not encourage anyone to enter culverts, unclog anything, or enter flooded areas as it can easily become deadly without the proper training
I unclog drains for fun in my spare time (I have been trained in culvert inspections for years with private co.) and I am osha trained.
Exploring anything abandoned can be dangerous or deadly without experience. I don't encourage anyone to enter any abandoned structures. Not only is safety a concern, but often times its illegal, and when possible I seek out permission from the owner or local police. I simply go to document its history before it's gone forever and I leave things the way I find them. I only take pictures and only leave footprints. I assume all the risks and responsibility before doing this. Please don't attempt to do this on your own. There could be nails, asbestos, falling concrete, soft floors, animals, or other hazards. Thanks for watching.

This guy is awesome! As a mechanic I can say he has saved engines from hydro locking. For those who don't know what that is, it is when an engine ingests too much water causing the engine to seize an 9 out of 10 times causes catastrophic engine failure. Especially if you have a low car, don't go into high water or you may pay a hefty price
@Saabspeedmaniac2k6.... Yep! Well said! The European cars are always the worst I've heard to suffer from hydrolocking because the bill is in the 1000's as opposed to Japanese cheaper fixes.I heard of a guy whose Volkwagen hydrolocked in one of these and he was looking at a $4000-$6000 bill.
That 1 out of 10 times you say a prayer, pull the spark plugs out, spin the motor to get the water out and hope you don't have a bent rod assuming it hasn't already made a window in your block. Then you pray for the electronics 😂

Or maybe they thought it must be deep and their car could get stuck??
Chaudhry Azeem The last thing you wanna do is race into a deep puddle. 😂 You can’t always tell how deep it is and there could be debris or potholes caused by the flood. Plus the faster you go into the puddle the more water your going to have splashing your engine and with modern cars becoming more technical you’re risking some damage to your engine or electrical parts.
Ryan barth I learned that the hard way. It looked like a small puddle but turned out to be much deeper. Ruined the spark plugs
Chaudhry Azeem if you’re that kind of person then please speed up in a deep puddle so we can get you and your vehicle off the road ASAP.
Greetings from the UK. What a community spirited guy. We need more people like you in the world.
At the base of my driveway is a sewer that is frequently clogged by debris in spring and fall and floods the street. I've unclogged it many times and the deep guttural roar the whirlpool makes when it sucks down the water is truly incredible.
My old neighbor had the sewer drain on his corner and before a big heavy rain, you could see him out there with his tall white bucket and his rake and he cleaned it out and we never had issues. It also helps that people rake out their yards in a timely matter and not leave old leaves out all winter long once that blows around for some reason those leaves love to end up around that drain.
@@skylilly1 Yes, unfortunately around here, everyone has a leaf blower and they literally just blow the leaves off their front yard and into the street. It’s amazing how simple us humans are at being entertained I find this fascinating and I’m drawn in. So satisfying seeing the road go from flooded to almost no water at all
They’re driving way too fast through that. If it hits the air intake, they could destroy the engine. Living in Ireland where it never stops raining, this is a common way to write your car off.
I was thinking the same thing. Here in Houston most of us don't dare drive through water like that..so reckless
@@queenv3350 Must be a tad different on your side of Houston. Over here, seems like random dips will never miss an opportunity to blast their Audi right down Westheimer- flooded or not.
They think that cars get stuck in water because the vehicle loses traction by floating up - not because the engine is flooded long before the vehicle turns into a boat. "Maybe if if I go fast I will float to the other side with the momentum!" ⛵ The majority of people driving cars don't understand that internal combustion engines need *air* just as much as *fuel* to simply run. Same sort of folks who can't set up a campfire because they completely forget about air intake. A car is a living machine: it needs to breath. Even I'm getting so pissed off with the people not slowing down and splashing.
@Thomas L I've had some arsehole drive through the deepest part of a flooded road full speed to deliberately drown my car. My car was a Hyundai with all the electronics and he had a 4 wheel drive and thought it was so funny. I certainly didn't and I'm still peeved off because he could have just killed my car.
Idiots
@Thomas L Yeah same thought. My dad used to drive a Subaru through water higher than that near our house. It was low to the ground but had 4WD so it handled it better than a 2WD but he said you had to should never stop and try never to slow down but keep the same pace. Just in the passenger seat, I could feel the pressure from when the water reached the bumper and then when it let go. It also splashed a lot. I also walked the sidewalk on that road in a few floods and was splashed. It sucked but I understood it. Most people aren't doing it on purpose in those conditions. People splashing on purpose are usually when it finishes raining and there's a puddle somewhere. You can hear them rev up and if facing them see them veer over to hit it on purpose. Driving on the sidewalks, however, is the worst. Those people should get reported and fined. If flooding is that bad you don't know if someone had to leave their house and is on the sidewalk. It could be the elderly, children, someone with pets, etc.
@@jarvindriftwood I'm not entirely sure he's correct with his 'never slow down' advice, because most driving instructions I've seen concerning waterlogged roads is 1. avoid if possible 2. slow down if you have to go through. Going faster just makes it easier to lose control of the car because of aquaplaning.
If you slow down, the water can clog your engine and cause your engine to lock up (flooding the engine). The never slow down advice is actually good advice. You should keep a speed you can control, preferably a decently faster not slower speed but not too fast. Don’t speed up but definitely don’t slow down.
Years later and I am still watching you clear this flood. Appreciate all of your videos.

Hats off to the people who slowed down and didn't splash this Legend.
Don’t award mediocrity, we don’t need to pat people on the back who follow simple rules of the road and Highway Code they should have learned already like slow down when entering a flooded area to protect your car, your brakes and yourself, this is expected of every competent and licensed driver. Anyone who just ploughs into the water is either blind or an idiot which is more dangerous. Blind people wouldn’t see the massive build up of water like the guy who hard splashed him, they slammed the brakes once they hit the water so they didn’t see it coming, in which case their judgement is compromised or their vision is shit, either way get them off the road The idiot drives on the pavement to avoid the water on a cluttered pavement with trees on a corner which could have pedestrians you don’t see or just drives through the water like it isn’t there, which can wreck the car and you just know they didn’t check their brakes after leaving the water to make sure they’re working properly so they’re both a dick who should be off the road but also driving a potentially unsafe vehicle, Bad drivers make normal drivers look good, don’t congratulate people for common sense, embarrass the bad ones so they go extinct, or put some cement mix on the pavement to fuse their brakes up good
For real
@@meatballg8655 Mediocrity? I'd say the mediocrity here are those who are speeding though the water and driving on the pavement. What is wrong with patting someone on the back for a small thing? If this guy truly does this because he enjoys the whirlpool payoffs, I wouldn't be surprised if this could be attributed to Asperger's Syndrome. One of the main characteristics of A.S. is having special interests with a passion. I myself am diagnosed with a mild case of A.S. and certainly know a bit about going down rabbit holes to learn almost everything about something specific, which to most people would feel like a waste of time. My current "rabbit hole" is trying to get to know all there is to know about electric cars - their history, construction, battery tech, etc. And while most people desire social connections, I feel most at ease when I'm alone and try to obtain information on my interests... which is hard for most people to understand.
You are doing good work sir. Good job and way to help out. People have no idea what clearing those drains mean for everyone in that area. Keep up the good work. Remember to stay safe!!!!
And the city is not doing this why?
Respect for those car drivers who slow down their cars while crossing him.
There were some cars going by like there was no water
couse he recording 🤣
@@ns671fr yep
I would crash into him by accident and have ptsd for the rest of my life from it
Maybe Also because they don't wanna ruin their car, you can do a lot of damage driving fast in high water
My guy is out here unclogging drains for the whirlpools, vlogging it, and giving fun facts about the environment at the same time. What a legend
@Accent Proposition yet here you are replying to it
@@biggorilla1999 lmaoooo
and in return he gets splashed by passing cars. some people have no respect
@Accent Proposition The algorithm works in mysterious ways! And haters always gonna hate... Just be happy, not part of the problem, bud.
He’s my guy. Back off honey.
Great job. When I was younger, I used to police the corners near my house and clear the drain. Easier to find when on the corner. It is satisfying to clear it and see the road emerge
the inner canadian in me is screaming that not everyone is honking waving or rolling their windows down to thank him let ALONE having people splash him. this man is extremely selfless and deserves respect.
Right?! My thoughts as well! Why is nobody slowing way down, at the LEAST, let alone thanking him!!
Has to be in America. They don’t even see a guy there. Too busy telling themselves they live in the greatest country on the planet.
@@08polaris500HO bullshit, nicest people I’ve met were Americans
@@08polaris500HO Never really met anyone in any country that goes out of their way to help others. Not Canada either, for that matter. So this just comes from a place of bigotry lol
It's the "United States Of America" what else do we expect...
This dude could have literally saved someone’s life by doing this. Good on him
@T Tt preventing a crash or something similar. Not saying it definitely would have happened, but it’s possible it might have.
@@frogbank5240 i do agree
@T Tt by keeping people on the road and not having them drive on sidewalk to avoid flooded road
@@frogbank5240 I agree. If someone were going fast enough, and not see the flooded road, they could veer into the other lane and hit someone head on.
I know right. Just imagine how many crashes he prevents every day doing this.
Safety wear and working gear companies! Please sponsor this wonderful man! Will pay off big time!
This came up as a suggestion so I had to go watch it again. It's fun to go back and see some of the old ones.
People say "we need more people like him". Why don't say "we need to be like him"?
Damn that Kiwi is right.
Ki wi with the facts
u said the right thing kiwi
Very true..
Nice comment kiwi
Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes all it takes is an orange shirt and a rake.
no pants or boots needed lol just a shirt and a rake
The power of one person who gives a damn should never be underestimated.
That's what Co. workers are supposed to
@J W nah man i hope that orange dies lol
and to think he use to do this without an orange shirt or a rake.
Strangely satisfying! Thanks for taking the time to record and share this.
This reminds me of when I was a kid when my friends used to damn the small creeks and streams. And of course it's as much fun to watch drain as they were to build and fill. Thanks for the memories and keep up the good work. Do worry about what stupid things do, just stay safe out there.

Just a man and his rake. Not all hero's wear capes
Nope just Rain boots😍😊
Yeah because heroes that using cape are just in the movie or comic books..

We need to be like you, going out of their way to fix things like this that dont take much to fix but help the community. As ive heard others say, its not we need more people like this, its that we need to be like this. Lets step up and keep our places clean and functional if we can! Edit: Im happy the cops around realize you and offer to give violations to the ones who splash you. Respect to them.

You have made a huge difference ❤ 7 min ago car's were knee deep in water, now cuz of you cars are driving thu clear. Thanks to you ❤ amazing job 🎉
How in the hell does he know where the drains are underneath all that rain? Give this man a medal for his civic duties!
the leaves group up showing a clog, thats how he knows
That and he does this all the time. He clears the drains often enough he remembers the locations.
He runs his rake across the ground because it gets caught in the drain
I thought i would get bored of watching someone clean drains for 18 minutes. I am not bored. I'm satisfied
Well that's because you're a weirdo! 😂 Welcome to the club!
Same. I was gonna fast forward but then I looked I was at the end of the video.

Right? Clicked on it wondering what the twist was that made it so popular. Turns out, the twist is just the video... And I can not stop watching! I am now gonna go through his backlog and make me a zen-playlist....
Haha I was doing some DIY and took a break, next thing I am staring at my screen! You sir are a legend, and those that splash you...disgraceful!
