So there is this other way I make a messy, wax-melted, looking candle. I cut out a circular piece of card stock, the I get a toothpick and cut of the end about a centimetre big, then I slightly burn the top so It could have that burnt look, then I use white hot glue to stick the toothpick to the card stock, then I use the white hot glue to give it the melted look.

How about a modular statue that you can change the heads arms weapons and such so it could look like the entrance to a church down to going into a demon temple.

Have you ever thought of trying to make a small knife out of tin? I'm not sure how well it would work, but perhaps with a perpendicular flat tip it could let you attach maps to things with that cool, knife stuck through it look

So many nifty things in here. I had a thought about the planters - you could put dead grass and things in it for a dead village or to show that someone's not a very good gardener.
solid idea :) I actually considered making the tufts modular, which you could do too and use the modular overgrown features from one of my other videos, that way you could mix and match as you needed. But I ended up deciding it was a step too far for this particular piece and I'd just make more if I wanted more!

Just want to drop a tip about using blue-tack like this. I've used it before to hang posters, and if you leave it in place for a long time the oil in it that keeps it sticky will seep into paper and stain it. You don't want to leave the pages onto the scatter after gaming because it may end up staining the pages if you forget to take them off.
Oh I know, but generally where I use it this isn't as issue as its always hidden :)

Awesome video as usual. Just a thought about the tea soaking, the rpg cartography guys and calligraphers use instant coffee to get an even better effect, don't get me wrong still loved it, just thought to share something you might like to try🙂
I have spotted that before, haven't had a chance to mess around with it yet and I couldn't afford to mess this up and deliver it on time! Definitely something I'll play with in future though :)

Hello! I just found your channel and I have been really enjoying your simple, approachable, and ingenious solutions to dungeon crafting However, I had some ideas about books that might make things a little less time consuming or more versatile for you. I've done a little bit of full sized book binding and it has been great fun, and most of the ideas have come from that. An easier way of roughing up the edges of the pages might be securing them in a bulldog clip and then roughing them up with your scalpel or wire brush as a group. If you intend on tea staining Afterwards then there is a good chance the scratches won't line up again once you reassemble them into a pile. If you want neatly lining up pages in your signatures (the groupings of pages) you can cut the edges flush after gluing them together. Also, if you want a big book that can open flat like your display books, glue the signatures to a piece of ribbon and then the last pages on each side to the cover of the book. This will let it open and close. Also with regards to the cover, gluing three pieces of thicker card (two a bit bigger than the pages and one a bit bigger than the spine) between some thinner paper (or even fabric if you were feeling fancy) with small gaps between so they can bend, will make a really functional book. And with regards to the magnet trick you can hide the magnets in the spine piece of cardboard and they will be neatly covered by the outer paper. this videos are incredible, and definetly inspiring me to try out some builds myself but i REALLY wish you used mm measurements instead of inches, every single time you give off dimensions it jsut sounds like your spouting gibberish 3/16th of an inch by 7/16th of an inch or 5 by 11 mm its just SOOOOO much easier to parse (and say), and way easier to actually measure out as well
Just amazing. I don't think I could possibly cut as precisely as you do for some of those smaller bits! But then again two years ago I didn't think I was creative enough to paint miniatures. I still don't think I am but my collection of minis has paint on them regardless! Perhaps I shall give one of these projects a try soon...

these are Brilliant, I've been trying to come up with a way of doing a mad scientist type lab, so some of these will come in useful. now I need a way to make some of the glass tubing kind of equipment, so far I'm using a lot of the clear plastic brush protectors off my old brushes for test tubes just wish they were clearer.
I've got plans for something like that in future, we'll see when I get round to releasing it :)

I think coffee works better for staining paper for scrolls, books, etc... But then, I am a SERIOUS coffee drinker. I'm talking 24/7/52, so I always have coffee for staining.
Looks awesome, I love the custom ess you can do this way. However there is one thing I don't get. Would in not be easier/cheaper to just make the tables out of magnetic sheets ant the accessories with just paperclips inside instead?
The magnetic sheet isn't strong enough through the balsa, already tested. It'll work with magnets in the accessories still, but that defeats the point :)

The danger of this is that it makes it look too easy. I dont even want to know how much planning and trial and error goes into the stuff you show. Great stuff.
Thing is, once you have a tutorial to follow, it kinda is easier :) that's part of the goal of the channel, have me do a bunch of the figuring out and heavy lifting to make it easier for the community as a whole!

Have you tried magnetic paint? I was thinking if you painted a thin layer on the pieces you wanted to replace (top sheets of books etc) might be able to replace blue tack.
These days I'd probably use nickel strip :)

One 3x1ft full height shelf in the garage, just now starting on the second ;) not much at all! That's the big benefit of modular terrain! Check out my homemade storage video for more, you can do it with corrugated card too.

I disagree with your self-critique about the book pages. Uneven stain times give you a bit of variability in the shading. If anything it looks more realistic than if they were all the exact same colour!
