  • I felt like McGregor, Nick and Nate were the first people to FULLY understand that the sport, like it or not, is entertainment. People watch because they want to watch, and they don't have to watch just because someone has a belt. I honestly think they are a lot smarter than people give them credit for. They adjusted to Conor's rise immediately, and planned to capitalize on it. Nate's callout was a calculated move by Nick and Nate together. And now Nate is perfectly correct about the other UFC fighters: Those guys need to make some noise. There's an endless procession of new belt holders in the UFC. But until they defend 3-4 times, or until they step up and create a story or narrative, it's just not interesting. No one has to like it. It's just how it is. Ideally every belt holder would be exciting to watch, not just lay on his opponent, and be someone with a story you could get behind. But they just aren't. And anyone who says that laid back guys can't generate hype like Conor is full of shit. Look at nick and nate's entire careers. These guys have been generating hype with 3 word answers their entire career. And they didn't need to be fast-talkers to do it, either. Why? Because they have a story. Nate's best quote from this: Do you feel the game is changing? "It's already changing" And how is it changing? "If people would follow the leader, they'd know how to do things". I'm sorry. This guy might not be a talker. But he's WAY smarter than people give him credit for.
