Wow an actually informative segment from espn. More of this please.
imagine?! love it
😍
The fact u think this is “informative” shows how much trouble we r in
@@samwaldinger3914 It is lmao maybe everyone dosent need to know it but its informative.
@@Lesqueeze825 cmon now lesqueeze it almost makes them look worse. Some things r better left unsaid. If I was the opponent going against them I’m thinking this in my head Everytime down the court and it’s smelling like bbq chickens. Sleeping is necessary for everyone obviously but u shouldn’t go advertising it
Kudos for whoever thought of this segment.
🥶
🥶
🥶
😳😳🥺
🤯🤯
ofc giannis saying the most giannis things ever, this is why he's one of my favorite players 😂
😍
😍
🥶
oh you mean Yawnis?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 so gut wrenching funny 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I take a pre game nap for 2 hrs daily except I don’t have a game after. 😂
😂😂
Same
Giannis just had my google playin waves.
sameee lol
Need more like this. People love to know little details about athletes lives, and how aspects of them can be used to help in our own day to day.
I’m not even a professional basketball player, taking a pregame nap is vital for my performance
Showing this to my toddler who recently stopped taking naps.
When he said "hey Google, play wave music" my video paused and Google assistant was activated on my phone😂
Yoo same😂
🤯🤠
🤠
I was like what’s this noise?
Really a big reason that they need naps is because their sleep schedule is broken because of all the traveling they do so they’re probably running on four or five hours of sleep, so that nap is essential to recuperate before games
2:48 nah why'd they do Steph so bad?? bro looks like jumps outta bushes and flashes people in San Francisco
😂😂😂
man Giannis narrated perfectly :)
I'm surprised that no one talked about sleep cycles and making sure you don't wake up in the middle of a cycle.
facts i usally take 30 minute power naps and those feeling amazing
@@beastboy9472 Yeap, you are making sure not to get into a cycle. A true power nap.
Surprised? This is well known. That's why u heard everyone saying 3 hr nap
@@abcxyz-py8ui Obviously some of the commenters.
sleep cycles are a common myth. you can’t track sleep cycles because you don’t know exactly when you fall asleep. A sleep cycle doesn’t start when you lay down. it starts when you actually fall asleep which is impossible to track
Love this new animation format
This was great, more of this please!
3 hour nap is a long nap. At that point it stops being a nap😂
Nah, 3 hours is perfect for a nap anything above 3 hours hits REM I believe so it comes in just under the line.
@@semi6544 3 hour is SLEEP. Nap is no more than an hour.
@@KingRashford10 -- I was bored so after receiving this comment I did some research. There was no clear consensus on what amount of time is considered a nap and what is considered sleep. Many of the "experts" didn't agree on points. A lot of posts did have 15-30 minutes as a normal nap. Many also considered 90 minutes the most optimal period of time for a nap. 3 hours wasn't viewed as a good thing. Many said 3 hours could leave you groggy. I think this research isn't designed for athletes though. It is probably just how normal people would feel otherwise this research would be far too different than what these athletes feel when they get 2-3 hours. Also, a routine is a routine maybe the research doesn't account for training your body to make this act a positive one for your body. You are probably right. 3 hours is probably sleep and if the researcher's results mean anything, it is probably bad sleep.
@@semi6544 I've had "sleeping" issues since 2006. I used to never wake up to anything. Always overslept. Then, I started to wake up early and often (was still young back then). I researched sleep A LOT. You either (1) have to power nap which you mentioned. You wake up before your body goes into deep sleep or (2) make sure you wake up after a sleep cycle ends. The time of a sleep cycle is variable depending on the person. It doesn't matter if it's 1 cycle, 2 or 3, as long as it's at the end of a cycle. (It's one of the main functions I used for the iPhone when the app came out in the early 2010s.)
@@HKim0072 -- I did look into sleep before today but it was because I was opposite of you. When I left the army, I couldn't sleep. I had no control over whether I'd sleep or not. The worst case scenarios were when I had deadlines or appointments. Should I try to sleep when I hadn't slept yet when there was 2-3 hours before the deadline. In those situations a "nap" was never possible if I fell asleep, I always overslept. I could never execute the "nap".
More of these please 🙏🏼 this rocks
Giannis is the best 😂
Bro is hilarious😂🤣
If I nap for more than 5-10 minutes during the day it is much harder for me to fall asleep at night. These dudes must burn so much energy during the game it doesn't matter
Fr before i hurt my knee i could sleep during the day and get sleepy during the night and wake UP fresh now i can't sleep at night and feel sleepy at the day, and also i Felt so alive playing bruh i Hope my knee heals
Also i think so much of the time these guys sleep schedules overnight are absolutely fucked and so the nap is kinda the payoff to either a terrible previous nights sleep or knowing that you aren't going to be getting much sleep that night due to game/travel etc
Please ESPN PLEAAASE more of these super informative NBA players routine/ health tips / habits.
More of this ESPN, this is good content.
We need more of these kind of videos
"Hey, Googol!" --Giannis 'Oreo Man' Antetokounmpo
Giannis so polite to Google when he gets those waves going
Great stuff! I want more of these videos.😊
I play in a band and taking a pre show nap is critical for me to have energy, a full social battery, and playing tight/focused.
Did this before every football game in HS. Now I do it before I go and dance at shows/ fests.
Really enjoyed this
That “snooze you lose” line is what got him his doctorate
Best thing I watched from ESPN in a while
those curry drawings were insane lmao
Hey NBA/ESPN this is great content. It reminds me of the "Get to know the driver" segments a lot of the Formula 1 teams have here on KZhead. This is a science to the game that I didn't consider. I liked that you referred to a sleep specialist as well :) Subscribed!
Best segment.
I loved watching this for real
I’m about to go take a nap. Watch out.
great video more plzzzz
Great content!
You start this in college. I was college athlete and we’d nap all the time because we had class early.
We need a full daily routine video!
Best bit of content ESPN produced in a minute
How do you not love Giannis! 😂
ngl sleeping before a highschool game was a mission. I can only imagine tryna sleep night before a pro game that nap be clutch 💯
A fresh and an interactive way for fans to get more of a glimpse into the lives of these superstars? No way this is ESPN.
Thank you Professor Jefferson
Good content
Imma start napping before my hobby-league matches now 😂
love this
I knew the 10 min lunch naps I take was good for me!!! Yessah
People need to see more of the proccess instead of the results. Well done
this was top tier, a+ job espn
Glaze train
@@JK8 learn to enjoy things or you'll die miserable
YAWNnis clever asf lol
20 mins is perfect
Nah they still gave AD a unibrow 😂
lol
its signature
Ofcoursee seeing AD without his unibrow would be weird
I'm gonna take a nap when I have a game starting today! ❤️
i thought it should only be 30 mins. But this is a good segment. Please do more.
its cuz they are doing naps for the duration of an entire sleep cycle whilst the 30min power nap is sleep without entering a cycle since waking up in the middle of one is what makes you even more tired than u were before
PB&J BANANA & NAPS IS ABSOLUTE PROMISING
30min Nap in my car during my lunch time at work helps me so much.
hahah my google started playing! well done Giannis.. well done!
That lamp got me realizing the color combo for the Wolves is wild 😂
Great segment on an important part of the game! Recovery! Because you “ can’t pour from an empty cup” 🛌💤💤
Thanks Giannis! Youve just awaken my phone to play some waves. lol
We learning with this one🗣️🔥 😁
Love how they used the music from that spongebob episode where squidward moves to squidville XD
Good to know I'm on track to becoming an NBA player
good content
Considering most games are late at night, even later if you're travelling to a different timezone, it would make sense sleeping a few hours before would energize you.
naps are amazing and lack of sleep is bad for you. just don't nap too much and you feel amazing
Giannis is always funny 😂
Imma take a nap rn! 😴👍✨
I had no idea. I know a nap after working out helps recovery but didn't know they did it before a game. Get us some more of this inside info!!
For Giannis, in Greece afternoon nap is normal (siesta in Spain)
What did I just watch? This is awesome 🤣🤣
I fw this video
Richard Jefferson’s cartoon at the end looks like lil Bill😂
I feel like 2-3 hour “naps” are not naps but just sleeping in the middle of the day lol
Yeah, they need it. With the amount of energy they consume everyday, they need more sleep to recover.
@@markarmage3776 lol op is spot on but you are also spot on. I think we all dream of being a professional athlete when we are younger but we never take into consideration how physically demanding it can be. And mentally ofc.
What nba u play for lmao
Likely, they are only sleeping 4-5 hours at night.
😂😂😂
You(we) do the same it’s just not publicized like this 🙌🏼
So no ones gonna talk about AD’s Zesty Cartoon Drawing 😂😂😂😂
My 5 year old didn’t believe me when I told him his favorite NBA players take naps before games to perform better so I showed him this. He’s asleep as I’m typing this.😂 His T-Ball game is in 4 hours. Thanks ESPN! ❤
In many Asian countries, normal jobs like office workers, factory workers, etc will take naps for 0.5-2 hours during the day around lunch time to reset for the afternoon. I wish there was this culture of napping in North America too 😢
Midnight Afternoon rest is literally wired into humans. We go against it by continuing to work and taking stimulants
@@coasteyscoasteys4150 we call it shift sleepiness disorder
@@coasteyscoasteys4150 That's just not true, thinking everyone has the same body chemistry is pure ignorance. I couldn't take a nap if I tried, if I got good sleep.
2:53 Steph’s cartoon 😂
This is dope. It reminds me of how ESPN used to be
I love how Giannis says please to his Google Home lmao
I think they should've also noted that they probably can't sleep too well at night (travel, post exercise adrenaline after game). At least for me, I can't do any exercise after like 7PM or I won't be able to fall asleep until like 3AM
Whoever drew Curry did him dirty 😂
afternoon nap has huge benefit to anyone, not just athlete anyone that has worked 5-6am to 2-3pm prob knows…. you get that 60-90min nap in, *dayum*, it’s like you got a supercharged
Steph don't look like that irl gang😂💀
Whoa, I never thought I’d relate to Curry. I’m also a profess napper, sleep anywhere anytime 😂😂
Makes me wanna take a nap during work too 😅
AD definately not sleeping with all them injuries
Got put on a performamce review for napping at work today, manager did not like the "you snooze you win" line...
Hmm, a nap at work would be great for me to get those spreadsheets on time
Giannis man 😂😂
Love me some naps!
I think I’m gonna do this before I hit the studio
That video made me wanna take a nap, and I don't even have a game today
Best thing about pre-game naps is that it’s soo easy to fall alseep. Every pre-game nap I take, I fall asleep in less than 2minutes and im not even close to being a pro athlete
Click here if your phone started playing ocean sounds because it heard Giannis say it. Mine did 🌊
They did AD dirty with that unibrow 😂
Would be interesting to also know how many hours they sleep during the night
Adam Silver pushed the button. With LeBron and Redick's podcast, more informative segments are on the way.
