  • Love LOVED my Victus Ryzen 5 edition. However, I came into 3 years with it using mostly for 4K Video editing, Photoshop, 3D Blender, etc. and it started to show its physical sickness. The most common problem of its hinge finally came to me. Something inside the rotors of it snapped out affecting the rim around the screen. Now I can't fully close n open it, can't bring it anywhere. Performance-wise is still superb tho! little to no maintenance inside, or any software malfunctions. Still loved it despite its build quality (It's cheaper for a reason anyway). Cheers HP!

    • @@jpna8223 Nah. just make it a habit to open & close it in the middle of the monitor. I'm right-handed, so it made sense for mine to break on the right hinge.

  • The bottom bezel on the screen and lower quality hinge is way too much of a caveat for me to consider any HP Victus

  • I almost buy this one over the New LOQ 2024. But that missing 2nd m.2 slot is a deal breaker for me, glad i choose the LOQ, with better screen, hinge and rigidity, and overall build quality. But it has some drawback and problem i found, smaller battery and somehow buggy rgb lighting from Lenovo Gen8 laptops still present. also, it comes with smaller 170w adapter which is not enough to bring the cpu+gpu to the max (not to mention if you do overclocking). If only Lenovo decided to put 230w adapter with 80wh battery, LOQ would be easily dominated the budget-midrange gaming laptop category.

    • @@retrogamer847 yes kinda weird, I had Legion slim 5 2023 too (AMD cpu), it came with 230w adapter, all amazing and well build machine, but unfortunately in my region, it came with defective RGB keyboard LED and sleep mode bugs (AMD-windows 11 issue related) so i have it refunded because it's annoying to work with, and bought cheaper Intel LOQ 2024 that meets all i need in in laptop, minus the weaker 170w adapter

    • ​@@Davortamine have white backlight keyboard only but I really know that even before buying,two years later iam gonna buy new laptop again but this time I will try to get most powerful CPU of Ryzen,it is really sad that there is many laptops with Intel CPU and there price really high but for AMD you can't get many laptop with there CPU, hopefully this year it will change iam sure.

  • The keyboard is nice, although no where as close as those from Lenovo. However I am not a fan of the font used (the letters looks the same at a glance. it's not a big issue if you're a touch typist. but the lack of dedicated Home and End key does make it not an ideal coding or writing keyboard IMHO. the sound signature is still very clear. Love to hear they fixed the wobbly screen, though.

    • Not personally. I’m about to buy one, it’s been the reigning champ of budget friendly gaming laptops though! eBay has loads of the older versions with the 1650 and rtx 2050 for around $400-500

    • DO NOT buy a 2050 equipped laptop, that is a crappy GPU for any kind of productivity & especially for gaming (speaking from experience with a ASUS TUF laptop)

    • No, this has far worst cooling and overall build quality, and i believe Legion 5 cost like $250 more than this config. And its still worth the money. If you want something cheaper new 2024 LOQ has a great cooling than this Victus. I tasted both and decided to buy LOQ 15irx9

    • @@VxYxR. do you compare them both? if yes and decide Victus is better for you then why not, go for it. I did my own research and testing, and suggest others based on my finding. for me spec on paper means nothing when the laptop dont run well under stress. there is a reason why victus has gotten multiple discount over the year. and why you rarely see second hand selling victus too (at least in my region). anyway, if you really want to keep with HP at least choose Omen series next time. since it did not cut on build quality, and overall give you a better value in long run

    • ​@@VxYxR.I don't say victus is a bad laptop,but I really liked only thing about which is Ryzen 7 7840hs,I wish I could get Lenovo legion 5 with that CPU even I would pay like 150$ more,I can't never accept victus since In many many reviews people complain about HP,The best deal I saw some days ago was Asus zephyrus rtx 4070 Ryzen 9 7940hs for 1349$.

  • Just picked up an i5 12500h (better than the ryzen shown in the video) - 4060 - 16gb - 512gb model for $700 from Amazon. Keep an eye out for deals and this laptop is hard to beat for the price.
