Even smaller studios can make better sounds, i'm %100 sure they do it purposefully making shit car sounds. After 4-5 year later, they will make money about ''realistic car sounds'' games. They always making step back about what we care about most. Personally i don't care graphics too much because in racing, pyhsics and sounds impact most. Which car racing studios doesn't care about these.
Honestly, that game has some of the best sounds in a racing game ever.
Almost every car in the original project cars sounds nice to me. I especially liked the BMW 1 series M.

I honestly dont get how forza has consistently got there audio so badly wrong , i mean they'll scan cars to make them look pixel perfect , record real skies over Mexico to make sure they are as realistic as possible but they cant get a sound guy with micro to stand next to the engine and exhaust to get a decent recording sample
I haven’t really done research, but all I’ve heard was that Forza been using cheap bought models from third parties.
Different Developers! FH5 is Playground Games in the UK (where the 18/6 Contract is *illegal* so they have to have more Permanent contracts meaning they can get some actual Professionals...) Motorsport is Turn 10 in the US.

In Horizon 5 you know exactly what's going on that week, which cars are exclusives, how long they're available for, how much you need to do to get them. In FM8 it's just a shambles: you only know there are new cars added to the game(apart from the Car Pass I mean) by going through a bbunch of menus and looking at the very end of a row of boring menus, and then it says 'reward: Sesto Elemento' or something. But even then you don't know if it's new to Forza, and most of the time the added weekly cars have been returning cars! This is such a crucial time in the game's lifespand, yet the cars they're using to 'lure players in' are some shitty copypaste Zonda C, with a sound file from satan. It's just inexplicably terrible, like they just let AI assemble it all.

At this point, I can synthesize the engine sounds in Bandpass better than Forza Motorsport.
It's especially sad because Playground Games already has better sounds because unlike Turn 10 they actually got most of the cars they have in game recorded and synthesized sounds for them in game. Forza Horizon simply has a better synthesizer. Not sure how Turn 10 screwed it up so badly.

I miss the time where both Forza Motorsport and Horizon actually had a soul and were made with passion. Nowadays they're just a husk of what they were in the past. I really hope that Forza Horizon 6 doesn't suffer the same fate that Motorsport did and that they actually improve upon what they have and bring back some beloved features that we liked from older games, otherwise Forza Horizon will be just another good franchise that has been killed because of greediness. I want racing games to be made with passion again like in the old days. Back in the day, racing games were good because of one simple thing: they were made with passion. Nowadays all game devs have the "let's put zero effort in this game and then make it for kids with the attention span of a door" mindset. Why can't we have a Pegi 12 racing game with an actual villain like FH1? If Forza Horizon 6 was a reboot or even a "remake" of the first Horizon game, it would sell like water in a desert. But nooooo, let's make the game for kids/braindead people. Let's make the game super friendly were everyone is happy. Fucking hell.

Forza Horizon 5 at launch has been a trainwreck like LoveLive SIF2 Miracle Live, EVEN WITH ALL THE BUG FIXES!
Microsoft has mandated a PEGI 3 for all Future Forza Games as of 2019 under Corporate Policy... basically because as they found with FH2, a 3 Rating tends to sell 100 Times more Copies than a 12 Rating when it comes to Racing Games, as then you get the Parents who Forbid 12, but allow 3, Buying and that really does up the Sales Numbers, it is Greed yes, but it is what it is and there is nothing we can do about it, so either we get used to it, or we just crack out the old Hardware or install an Emulator and go back to the Past! Also, upping the Age Rating to a 12 again would fix Nothing! in fact it would make the Game Worse, as it would still be teeth gnashingly Garish, and still Constantly super friendly and super happy, just with added Blasphemy and Profanity, which just makes the Game Repugnant, see Motorfest for Proof of that.. they need to stop getting the Developers, or worse... SBI.... to Write the Screenplays and get some actual Professionals in to write them! It is Incompetent Writing, not the Age Rating (did being a 3 Stop F1 2021/2023 and Grid Legends having some Properly Nasty (Nathan McKane being Davros level Insane and so downright Evil as to make Darius Flynt look like Robert Glenn!) Villains and some Surprisingly good Writing that included a lot of Extremely Negative Elements such as Guilt, Depression, Wrath, Smugness, Duplicity, Lying, the Mafia, Psychosis, Violence, Attempted Murder, Cheating, etc? No. Did being Rated 3 stop FH2 from making Ben Green an absolute Twerp who you just loved to hate? No! ) that is the issue with Games now, and Incompetent Writing can Strike at any age Rating , even 18.. "My Face is Tired" anyone? Also, the Zero Effort, No Attention Span in FH4/5 was because of Mike Brown who focused only on the Eliminator/Battle Royale and aimed purely at Children because they are more into Battle Royale than older Gamers like us are, they have Torben "Hitman Trilogy" Ellert in charge now however, who seems to be a lot more towards "You have to make an Effort" as some of the Cars in Rally Adventure were a little challenging to unlock at times! , and the Developers also seem a lot more Passionate in the Live Streams lately, they are nowhere Near as Burned out and Demoralized as they clearly were back when Brown was in Charge. So Hopefully 6, although it is going to be Rated 3, Like it or not, is going to be an Improvement as it is in Much better hands than 5 was!

Turn 10 use FH5 sounds if your gonna be lazy. FM7 and FM6 had decent sounds. FH4 had crap sounds pgg learnt the lesson and listened and they have done good.

Tbh i feel like companies rely too much on the recorded audio they have. Yes maybe it's how the car sounds by it's exhaust etc, but it's not how majority of us hear them. We usually hear them from some distance etc and in video. They should adjust those according to their own ears. Emphasize some sounds, reduce some and boom, the end result will be better. Look at mw2012. They didn't have audio recordings of the cars so it was mainly adjust to what they could hear in videos etc

Hey fast lane, fun fact about the horizon 3 zonda, there is a bug with its audio. If you upgrade the engine and drive it out of the dealership, it’s sound will be much lower pitched despite not having a camshaft upgrade (the version you used) But if you get out of the car and back in, it’s sound pitch magically raises

I could go on and on how Pagani is superior to almost any other super/hypercar company out there. Buddy I'm not disputing anything you have to say about the Zonda, But my guy the M3 E46 GTR sound is a timeless one from the in game TVR Cabera to the P60 4.4L with Seq 6 Spd.

I remember the Zonda in Hot pursuit, was my favorite car in its class just from the sound *Alone* but then there's when you used the turbo on the Zonda.
The racing exhaust sounds pretty damn good. Both honestly sound way better than FM4 and FH1 (sounds like a Lambo there, tbh never liked the car sounds in both games) And the rest of the Forza games up until FH4 (sounds like it's revving up to 9K RPM when it revs to 7K, FH3 has a glitch that changes pitch depending on session). FH4, FH5 are the best from Forza, PC sounds great too! And of course HP sounds glorious :)
I love it when my cinque only fires on 8 cylinders. Side note: the two best cinque sounds to me are hot pursuit 2010/remastered and Horizon 3 and 5.

It's just sad... Nothing else to add to it. As a racing games lover, I'd like all of them to be great games to play, to listen to the sound of cars, to look at. But the last FM title failed miserably in all of these aspects ; the competition is higher than ever, with many racing titles offering unique force feedback, physics engine, car roasters or advanced sounds, but not only FM seems to be stuck in the past, no, it's gone backwards?! FM4 was the pinnacle of its generation of racing games, much, much more refined and well rounded compared to GT5 and GT6. Damn even FM6 looked and sounded sooo good, but since FM7 they've messed something I know, because the game they released last year is not acceptable by any means, especially for the €/$100 price tag.
You should have the same thoughts about a racing car list compared to a restaurant's dish list : if it's too long, that can only be a sign of quantity over quality. I'm happy i stopped playing Forza franchise since FM4. This game is not worth a single penny.

That Zonda Cinque sound from HP2010 will forever induce a mindgasm from how blissfully beautiful it is, while being raw and unbound at the same time.
Wait! Why does the coupe cinque and roadster sound different in horizon 4? It's like they confused between huayra's V12 and zonda's V12 which both sound different
They probably took recordings from the cockpit and ofc the roadster will have more exhaust sound that way. Then they just lazily mixed it and forgot that in external cam they should sound the same 💀

I didnt even bother unlocking it, not after seeing the original video on the forza sub reddit lol, its such a shame to see how far forza has fallen, also in update 7 they changed 3 and only 3 car sounds i believe the aventador sv, Cayman gt4 rs and one other i can't remember.

It’s one thing if a sound is copy/pasted among multiple cars with the same engine or fundamentally similar engines such as the Ferrari Enzo & Maserati MC12 which are basically the same car except visually. There are some cases where 2 cars with the same engine should have a different exhaust note such as probably the Ferrari F12 and FXXK, but the Lamborghini Murciélago should not have the same sound as the Aventador.

Pagani Zonda Cinque in Forza Motorsport 8 sounded like HONDA RC211V all over again.
FH5 had a butchered Zonda sound file and then it eventually got updated so it actually sounds like a Zonda. I really don’t know whose ass T10 pulled that Zonda sound file out of for FM23, but they need to get their shit together and make cars sound at least somewhat like they’re supposed to.

Project Cars (1) really nailed the Zonda!! I don't care if i receive hate, but it sounds even cleaner and better than NFS Hot Pursuit. No cap.

I think the mistake that game devs make when recreating car sounds is that they avoid putting the droney part of exhaust sound in the game or at least EQ the shit out of the sounds to make it less noticeable but that's literally the thing that makes some of these car sounds whole and realistic.

To be honest the best need for speed game is hot pursuit sadly they haven't updated it since remastered I have the need for speed hot pursuit on my switch and man does it sound good even the murcielago or reventon sounds good
