This truly is nothing, basically an 8 minute response. Not first due, so there were already other units on scene. Yeah thats basically typical response time even for a suburban fire department. Yeah it may be long in length (no much traffic or anything) but its not long in time (lack of traffic and lights in general causes not many slowdowns in response).
@alexismspgaming82604 жыл бұрын
@@KandiKlover truly this isn't even a true rural FD. This is nothing compared to what I've seen. A Town/Small City FD responding MA to a neighboring small/mid sized city is what this is. I've seen 200-300 square mile areas covered by two VFDs operating out of two stations. That is true rural FDs. Many times in those instances, if its a week day, yeah there is zero staffing, total volunteer with no one manning the station. So you have to add the time to respond to the station to get a unit to the response time. Many times in those cases 1 or 2 people per piece will go to the station while the remaining manpower will arrive POV.

OK, I am one minute in and if people don't see it by now, they never will. The engine we are riding in is the second one travelling down the same road. Civilians will hear a siren, see a fire engine, or ambulance, or police car go through and think to themselves, OK, "there they go" and proceed through the intersection when the second siren they are hearing (but not realizing it) is just about now entering the same intersection. I have responded to those secondary accidents multiple times. Usually the problems we had on those accidents is the responding engine, ambulance, squad (what ever) went on the first run and we would have to respond from a farther distance.
@dpm-jt8rj5 жыл бұрын
that's why we usually respond in a convoy of let's say 3 to 10 appartus at the first alarm (whatever the specific convoy from a certain station looks like). Drivers realize that there are several units approaching, and without a huge gap in between, they won't just start driving while the next apparatus is about to enter the intersection
@EnjoyFirefighting5 жыл бұрын
When I see a fire engine zooming by with a siren I listen for another. And I don't think I'm a genius. I think most of us realize that fire engines often travel in pairs or groups in an emergency.

@New England Patriots if you know anything you would realize what he said is true. Yeah I love it as much as the next person but if you use it all the time people will just ignore it. The very reason Power Call tends to work is not many people are used to hearing it (basic Power Call, let alone the intersection mode which will truly clear an intersection faster than anything outside someone standing there shooting a gun). Same reason there is talks in some departments to start using European style sirens. They may sound stupid but think about it, if you hear that when you are driving its going to grab you attention very quick. Truthfully there is a such thing as too much horn and too much Q no matter how good it sounds.

I don't see the issue with the excessive air horn use. going through the residential neighborhood at the end was a bit excessive and typically my company runs with no sirens or horns in places like that. HOWEVER, as we saw at the beginning of the video, drivers tend to associate 2 sirens with one vehicle. in this instance, where two trucks are driving in tandem, drivers may associate the two siren tones to one rig. i've seen it a lot where we'll be driving in tandem like that, and a car will pull out right in front of us. it's usually older folks but still. the use of the air horn isn't hurting anything, cmon now.

Yeah them rural FDs.
Farthest drive I had was 35 minutes..!

John John It doesn’t matter they don’t see or hear us no matter what we do. Why do you think we have air horns and the Q?
Could be people with un-diagnosed medical issues affecting their vision. Apparently this is not a completely uncommon way of discovering brain tumors.
Rip vic
OK, I am one minute in and if people don't see it by now, they never will. The engine we are riding in is the second one travelling down the same road. Civilians will hear a siren, see a fire engine, or ambulance, or police car go through and think to themselves, OK, "there they go" and proceed through the intersection when the second siren they are hearing (but not realizing it) is just about now entering the same intersection. I have responded to those secondary accidents multiple times. Usually the problems we had on those accidents is the responding engine, ambulance, squad (what ever) went on the first run and we would have to respond from a farther distance.
that's why we usually respond in a convoy of let's say 3 to 10 appartus at the first alarm (whatever the specific convoy from a certain station looks like). Drivers realize that there are several units approaching, and without a huge gap in between, they won't just start driving while the next apparatus is about to enter the intersection
When I see a fire engine zooming by with a siren I listen for another. And I don't think I'm a genius. I think most of us realize that fire engines often travel in pairs or groups in an emergency.

Dude on airhorn: We are on a straight away with no side streets or cars, but I am pulling that horn anyways. LOL
blow the horn as much as you need to. If you get there fast and safe that's all that matters.
That's not how it works. More horn usage means desensitizing drivers to the sound of emergency vehicles, making them react less quickly. Also it's deafeningly loud, and can stress people out, causing more danger.
Douglas Jacquez its true tho. Over time our hearing will get used to sounds, even annoying sounds.
I only pull the air horn only when I need to I use the Yelp siren setting going through intersections with the air horn or I use the air horn when drivers field to yield the right away and if all else fails I will not hesitate to get on the pa system and tell the driver to pull over to the right
@@finnk1289 0k booomer

Fireman, with such a dangerous job and not get paid why? Are you still covered if you get hurt?
@@MarcLloydZ I didn't get hurt when I was a volunteer fireman. I came close to getting killed because I was up on the roof and I cutting a hole in the roof and trying to push the roof were we were cutting and step off the ladder with a pike pole and pushing it down when the roof collapsed and I went down with it and next thing I know I look up and I was in the house fully involved with flames all round me i saw the front door and it was closed so I drive through the front window to get out. Thank God I was hurt but I was close getting hurt or killed.
Could of used the horn a little more
it needs more cowbell
If you don't want somebody it hit you? You could fit the Q-Siren some more....I would Stand on that
Ikr? Not enough
Joe Smoe put a train horn on it. You’ll have no problem getting through traffic.
Jim B don’t let off! Just lightly lay on it the whole way there
very awesome response, great siren and airhorn work to get to a house fire safely. up in rhode island we do have Q sirens, when i was an acting officer for a volunteer dept i'd always start the electronic siren, then blast the Q if theres alot of traffic but great response guys
Dude pullign that horn looks like a blast
I love when i hear the horns honestly it is extremely awesome.
the windscreen wipers going at different speeds would drive me insane
yah
Just ruined the vid for me
Never understood windscreen. Screen is on windows and doors to allow summer breezes to flow through. They are windshield wipers, because it shields you from the wind.
My God, I can’t believe how far how far they’re going.
Yeah, 7 minutes to a structure as first due? Then they get on scene, and not a bit of smoke showing?
Haha the man pulling the horn is something I’d do whatever it takes for them to get faster and keep other drivers safe is 🙌🏼
Great ride!! Great sounding siren!!
Wow the amount of people that fail to pull over is amazing
I mean, if the lane is open and he has room to pass without having to go around anyone and isn't being obstructed; I don't really see the issue.
@@blazzing_fury2425 because you never know which way he will go and not to mention it's the law.
6:05 the passenger almost pulls the horn from the roof 😆😆😆
I don’t know why...but that brings me happy tears to see the fire chief having a good old blast on that horn
Thanks jimmy and crew
I got a fever, and the only cure is... more air horn.
Timothy Greene damn right!
I don't see the issue with the excessive air horn use. going through the residential neighborhood at the end was a bit excessive and typically my company runs with no sirens or horns in places like that. HOWEVER, as we saw at the beginning of the video, drivers tend to associate 2 sirens with one vehicle. in this instance, where two trucks are driving in tandem, drivers may associate the two siren tones to one rig. i've seen it a lot where we'll be driving in tandem like that, and a car will pull out right in front of us. it's usually older folks but still. the use of the air horn isn't hurting anything, cmon now.
dude, at the end he was in an open field and blew the horn with no one around
Moon Scar You never know when a careless squirrel or similar mammal will dart across the road. #livesmatter! Best to be overcautious and blow that horn eh?
Low call volume dept or volunteer's overly excited...Excessive Air horn = come outside and look at me !
you dont nide to be rude to the firedps in the world the nedd to be fast on the fire sene
god comit
that looks like so much fun pulling the horn
Great video love watching it. Do more ride along videos I be watching
That town knows when to pull over on the side of the road not every town or city does
bruh those wipers were triggering my ocd
Was thinking, boy does that all look familiar. Then when you all passed the Pink Elephant, then saw the Rt 60 West sign. Visit my son down there 3-4 times a year. Good job getting there.
That engine sure sounds amazing
This is how many time the passenger beside the driver pulled the rope letting the tank release air to the compressor making air come out of the air horn 👇
9/10 needs more horn
I bet that's the passenger's favorite job is pulling on the horn haha Kidding, love the men and women that hold the Red Line!
I just recently applied for firefighter training and I seriously hope I get in. This is my passion!
Did you get in?
How's it going. You get in?
you got in or something ?
5:38 oh my f***ing God he is going ham
GO GET EM BROTHERRRRRRRRRRRS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
F YAAAA!!!!!!! Lol
michael hanretty that’s a 10-4 right there brother !!
@@jacobhudson554 10-4
I was laughing my ass off with my man pulling on the horn and I came to comments seeing everyone notice it too HAHAHAHHA. I really thought I'd be the only one.
Damn good driving on a long haul... Damn that’s a long way to go
Damn 7 minutes to get there, house done burnt down.
People should learn to pull over when you have a fire truck coming at you
KevynJ4838 the law states they aren’t required to its a “if they want to be respectful” which I think is bullshit
Well that is stupid, I was always told to pull over when I was younger and learning to drive. I still do it many yrs later today. I have a bumper sticker on my car that reads No one ever said you need a brain to drive. You should see all the dirty looks I get from people. Lol
I know here in Michigan it's a state law
I'm sure a lot of the air horn was because they're the second truck, and it's not always clear where the siren noise is coming from, so people may think they emergency vehicle has passed and not look behind them again before pulling out.
@@lbn1188 A lot of people freeze up and panic because they're trying to get out of the way but don't know the right way to go, many videos of people trying to avoid but end up turning the wrong way
I love the Manual Operation from the airhorns!!
"responding to a small kitchen fire?" I have tears in my eyes I'm laughing so much. thank you! I really needed that.
Yeah, he's blowing the horn a lot - they're encountering vehicles that aren't stopping or getting out of the way, or are approaching from side streets, and the fire truck is going through red lights and stop signs.
Never saw it take someone so long to get to a structure fire, I'm a volunteer and we get there faster than that
volunteers also have their own vehicles that are much faster than a big rig...
More Air Horn! As a former first responder it was great to see the view from the cab and see how people that were not smart ie: Ford truck guy!
CAP IS KILLIN' THAT HORN!!!😂
anyone else bothered by the windshield wipers not being in sync
Yes, I am bothered too.
Anonymous not until you pointed it out. Fuck
Vids ruined now
There individual controls. Meaning 2 knobs that's why there Out of sync.
Sure is a fidgety captain. Should I keep moving my helmet or keep blowing the horn.
łapka i sub Jestem z Polski i Jarają mnie te wasze wielkie Amerykańskie wozy a ten klakson oh Poezja jak grałem w gta sa na jednym serwie byłem we frakcji safd i też ciągle trombiłem jak jechałem .
wow what a cozy little town that is, anyone would want to live there
Oh you guys at 0:35 just totally blew the ultimate opportunity to knock that guy in the gray Ford pickup half way across town for not yielding to you..... Bet your ass after that, anytime he heard a siren he'd pull to the side of the road, lay down in the floorboards and shit his pants......
yes totally
nope, unless yall are from kentland 33 or fdny rescue 1, firefighters are supposed to respond with safety, if they hit the pickup, they would be liable cuz the light for the pickup was green
The house to the right we had a really good fire in there a few years ago got the cam footage of it
Ryan Barnes put it on KZhead so we can watch it lol
sounds like the first time i rode officer :) good vid
If I was the horn guy I’d be yelling at the top of my lungs “toot toot toOoOoOoOotTt” just to annoy the guys
