Previous owners couldn't care for him as they were building their home.If it was my house ,it would seem too empty without that giant goofy boy.
I know! Must be more to that story. I would get it if he was a puppy they just hadn't foreseen how difficult having a big newfy puppy is with building a new house, but hes 7??!! Surely he would be part of the family by then .so sad
It seems like they did the best they could in the situation they were in. The felt they were neglecting the care and love the dogs need due to a busy lifestyle likely back and forth and therefore made sure he was somewhere he would get everything he needs and find an amazing family.
I think a big ol dog is better off with kids to bond and grow with 🤔
@@PuffKitty Hello! I'm a 34 year old kid 😁😄
I have 2 newfoundlands and knowing how sensitive the breed is, it puts me to tears to see one in a shelter and sad and lonely.
they do suffer from depression
Awww...that does sound heartbreaking. The breed is legendary for their giant hearts ❤
I wish they didn’t cost 4000$ :(
I think the dad could see that Rocky was ready to eat and made sure his son Dan was the one to give the food - good parenting!
How good is when animal goes into good hands and how sad is when people are not responsible to decide for an animal they will care for for life
Exactly. I will not leave this earth until my three dogs have reached the ends of their natural lives. It's doing right by them and showing them the same love and loyalty they have shown me.

Nothing would make me abandon mine. One I’ve had from a puppy and the other is an ex-racing greyhound who was abused and used, then discarded at the shelter when she was no longer of “use.” I adore them both and feel guilty if I leave them for a few hours!!
I'm always glad when they show families adopting a bigger dog. Sometimes shelters really struggle to find a place for bigger dogs, especially breeds with a bad reputation, even if that dog is suitable for a family.
Seven years old! Getting dumped is terrible! Big dogs aren,t around long to us but to them we are their whole life!
A dog is family. Glad he found a new one to love him.
Newfoundlands do great with kids! They are just really big sweethearts! ❤ my local ski patrol at my home mountain uses newfoundlands and burnese mountain dogs. They love giving attention to not only the patients to help calm them down, but after the ski school lets out they love to play with the kids. The dogs actually bring them tennis balls and frisbees for them to throw so they can fetch them for fun.
That is so sweet that what brought Rocky out of his shell was Dan.
My family used to have a Newfoundland, lab, Irish wolfhound cross dog and he was the most gumpy cuddly gentle giant. He made it to 15 years old. He was nearly 6ft when on his hind legs. Miss him loads xx
Wow. That was a big dog Rebecca. Great mix of breeds to have in a dog. All the gentle and intelligent genes.
Fifteen is a great age for a giant dog. Glad you got to enjoy him for that amount of time ❤
Brought a tear to my eye, when they finally bonded 😘
Same!
Newfoundlands require large amounts of interaction, more than most breeds. I have a 1 year old Newf and he's happiest when he's around groups of people or other dogs. He's rather sluggish when it's just him and me alone in the house, but he perks up when I take him to visit other people or to the dog park to play with other dogs.
Awwww so glad when a dog finds a great family and comes back to life essentially 🥰🥰🥰🥰
The fact that the family takes him to the beach is perfect - newfie heaven! ❤
“We’re gonna have to buy a bigger car” is what got me, haven’t even met him already knowing he’s gonna be theirs! I loved this episode, this entire show in general, but it makes me so sad that so many dogs need to be re-homed to begin with because of what’s happened to them.
This brought a tear😢 what a beautiful dog and wonderful family, Rocky has definitely found his loving forever home, great story and happy ending. Mixed emotions for the excellent staff who have cared for Rocky and are obviously extremely fond of him but will be delighted to see him go to such a great family.
When he ate I almost cried.
Oh my goodness what a sweet adorable fluffy boy 😍
Amazing , so glad you gave him a forever home , he will enrich your life’s forever, he is family now ❤️🥰
What terrible people!! They couldn't juggle his care while there building their new house. AWFUL PEOPLE!! I HOPE THEY CHOKE ON THEIR SAWDUST. I'm so happy that Rocky found a new and much better family
My knee-jerk reaction was to yell "Screw them!"
Such a lovely family for a gorgeous dog. ❤️
We have rescued one Newf cross (golden) and one pure Newf. The most loyal and loving dogs. They don't call them velcro dogs for nothing. Charlie our Newf cross passed away a couple of years ago, but Molly our brown Newf, gives us joy every day. As I write this, Molly is sleeping on top of my feet. lol
What a magnificent dog, and what a terrific new family.
My absolute favorite episode of THE DOG HOUSE UK!
Newfies are wonderful. I have a Newfie Grandpup.❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️🐾
One family gets rid of him because they're building a new home. The next joke about buying a new car for him. I'm so happy for Rocky.
Newfoundlands are rescue dogs, water or mountains. Just like St Bernards and Great Pyrenees. They are also protective of their people.
Still can't fathom how people can turn in their pet unless its for financial reasons. For us it would be getting rid of family & don't mean a in-law
Thank you kind people
I'd put up with the drooling for this dog
Be happy now boy xx❤️
I LOVE my newfy, drool is just part of the love
happy tears
A fantastic video. and a win for all concerned . Great stuff
Best show ever
Rocky was already 7 at that time. Now he would be 8 which is normally the longest a newfie would live. i wonder how they are all doing now...
Hopefully happy and healthy as being crossed bred should help.
NOTHING LIKE A NEWFIE......HAPPY ENDING! THX FOR SHARING.....
"he's amazing" ALL dogs are amazing,I wish I had the space and the money to adopt thousands of dogs and give them a second chance, sending blessings from England
it's like the set of big brother.
Очень красивый ньюфаундленд!!
but im happy his found new family
This made my day ❤️
Mine too!!
As lovely as newfoundlands are they can be a bit daunting for some so dont blame the little brother
🙏🙏🙏🙏
👍👍👍🙋♀️💕
Could not find time for him while building a home? How do you spell L.O.S.E.R.S? Total 🐂💩! I did it, no problem! I would have never considered giving up my dog! Thank God for people who care!
Adorable dog, but as a Canadian, I had to cringe a little bit at the pronunciation of "Newfoundland," lol.
You have to be from there to be able to pronounce it just right😅
You're building a house but couldn't deal with a dog, too! I hope the previous guardians don't have children because a dog is a lot easier to take care of than children are!!!
How long do newfies live? At 7 are they setting those kids up for heartache
Is it just me or does Rocky have less hair: fur on his head like he got a shave there
Terrible past owners!! Unbelievable
He was disappointed because he thought he was going to look more like a german shepherd
They couldn't take care of their 7 year old dog and build a house at the same time?!!! I just don't get the absolute selfishness of "humans." Glad the pup found the family he deserves. Hope the other family's house burnt down. Not sorry.
They cared for that dog for 7 years. An opportunity arose to built a house. With so much going on; it wouldn't be fair on an old dog to spend its remaining years in a stressful environment with owners who will be very busy. Better to find him a new home.
? ???????
Ridiculous to show the family a massive dog when they asked for a small dog.
Its not just the size, the team try to get the personality above everything else for potential families
this dog does not look as newfy, this is not pure clear newfy, meaby with Hovawart mixed, i have a newfy farm but any does look as this
Why call it a Newfoundland when it is a cross? Lovely dog, but very misleading to the adopting family on increased health issues being a cross and especially at 7yo. Could turn the family off owning giant breed dogs after Rocky. Would expect more from an animal welfare organisation.
My family used to have a Newfoundland, lab , Irish wolfhound cross. He was the most grumpy loving gentle giant you could ever meet. Best dogs ever.
We won't see the whole conversation and I'm sure they will explain in further detail just shorten it for tv purposes.
They did say he was cross with a German shepard.
A dog that is 50% one breed is called a cross. This is different from a mongrel dog, a mixed breed, a mutt, which is what you think it means.
A dog that is half one breed and half another is a double cross breed. Like a labradoodle, or a Cockapoo, they will look and act very similarly and predictably. You have a strong opinion for someone that doesn’t know dog terminology. It’s almost as if your interest is protecting your profit
I'm sure these programs help a lot of people, but the gushing staff puts me off watching.
Throw the hotdogs in the trash please.
NewfoundLAND not new FOUND land can you respect the people of the place please
goodness, I put the accent on the new
Can't stand a drooling dog.
Then a Newfoundland is not for you- they are legendary for drooling.
Like anyone gives a f--k.
They can't stand you either......
@@jimtarutis8018not true. They love you anyway and will give you slobber kisses you didn't ask for😂. Best to not go for a newfie when slobber is a no, no.
So so so sad
O lets give a dog treats Who jumps on agent. Sit down dog, then a treat Not rocket science
They say, the ANIMAL choses His her owner..... You have it all wrong
What about poor cats On death row
Cats are ignored This sucks
And these promoters wonder Why dogs run around yard After being cached up. Are these people inexperienced Or what.
Can't people chose there own dogs So bloody staged Annoying
