  • Previous owners couldn't care for him as they were building their home.If it was my house ,it would seem too empty without that giant goofy boy.

    • I know! Must be more to that story. I would get it if he was a puppy they just hadn't foreseen how difficult having a big newfy puppy is with building a new house, but hes 7??!! Surely he would be part of the family by then .so sad

    • It seems like they did the best they could in the situation they were in. The felt they were neglecting the care and love the dogs need due to a busy lifestyle likely back and forth and therefore made sure he was somewhere he would get everything he needs and find an amazing family.

    • Nothing would make me abandon mine. One I’ve had from a puppy and the other is an ex-racing greyhound who was abused and used, then discarded at the shelter when she was no longer of “use.” I adore them both and feel guilty if I leave them for a few hours!!

  • I'm always glad when they show families adopting a bigger dog. Sometimes shelters really struggle to find a place for bigger dogs, especially breeds with a bad reputation, even if that dog is suitable for a family.

  • Newfoundlands do great with kids! They are just really big sweethearts! ❤ my local ski patrol at my home mountain uses newfoundlands and burnese mountain dogs. They love giving attention to not only the patients to help calm them down, but after the ski school lets out they love to play with the kids. The dogs actually bring them tennis balls and frisbees for them to throw so they can fetch them for fun.

  • Newfoundlands require large amounts of interaction, more than most breeds. I have a 1 year old Newf and he's happiest when he's around groups of people or other dogs. He's rather sluggish when it's just him and me alone in the house, but he perks up when I take him to visit other people or to the dog park to play with other dogs.

  • Why call it a Newfoundland when it is a cross? Lovely dog, but very misleading to the adopting family on increased health issues being a cross and especially at 7yo. Could turn the family off owning giant breed dogs after Rocky. Would expect more from an animal welfare organisation.

      @M_SC@M_SC Жыл бұрын
    • A dog that is half one breed and half another is a double cross breed. Like a labradoodle, or a Cockapoo, they will look and act very similarly and predictably. You have a strong opinion for someone that doesn’t know dog terminology. It’s almost as if your interest is protecting your profit
