That overshooting top
That sunset hitting the clouds was gorgeous.
True
This is gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
This time lapse was actually captured using a DSLR with like 10 second intervals. I don't know why I chose 10 seconds but I suppose I could have changed settings to capture more images for a smoother lapse. A video camera sped up would have a much better outcome. Thanks for the advice!
We don't ever see that in California! Sometimes I miss the storms back home.I was born and raised in Norman!
In my years of experience capturing problem tornadoes and relocating them to the wilderness, I've found that they particularly enjoy cattle.
Wonderful video. Weather has always been fascinating to me. When I used to live in Texas I saw so many super cells. They were scary, yet beautiful.

Nice capture of that supercell. This time-lapse shows many dynamics of a tornado producing cell.
Seeing them like this I’m all like “oooh pretty clouds!” But seeing them IRL freaks me the fuck out, even knowing that where I live, the most damage a storm can do is flooding if the streets are full of garbage (which they are 95% of the time just not in my area).
It's hard to find good videos of thunderstorm development like this. Congrats on the quality. I was in Norman this March with my college's debate team, and I wanted to go by the weather center at the U of Oklahoma, but didn't get the chance.
Yes
So beautiful
really awesome pictures ... weather is always awesome, beautiful and sometimes very dangerous! great work! greetings from austria!
You're so lucky to see that! Man, it's beautiful!
This is absolutely stunning! Beautiful!
hi Nascar! surprise seeing you here 10 years ago
Above an EF3, usually. When they're smaller than that, you can usually either lasso them or just take them down with your bare hands.
I actually just graduated from OU with a bachelor's degree in meteorology. I will be going to North Dakota for graduate school. You should come back to Norman when you get a chance and take a tour of the weather center! It's very nice.
Holy crap that thing looked tough! Thanks for posting, I think I'll go make my own.
NICE ... Thanks for posting! I was wondering what this storm looked like as I was UNDER it catching tornadoes!
Supercell is a monocell storm, but in your vid, we can see a multicells storm.
Beautiful
I can't believe how fast they form. It was already a cumulonimbus ~20 minutes in. This is also pretty normal according to Google. Crazy!
great movie
Do one thing increase the playback speed of this vdo and watch ..
classic awesome and pure stormchasing
um, this is actually a supercell. It does have a mesocyclone, which is how it produced a pretty large tornado near Ada, Oklahoma and the mesocyclone was very apparent on Radar. A "thunderhead" is not a type of thunderstorm.... There are 4 types of thunderstorms. A single cell, a multicell cluster, a multicell line, and a supercell. This is definitely a supercell. By the way, I have a bachelor's degree in meteorology from OU.
awesome vid....
what a massive updraft
@cdcollura Nice Collura. lol I know plenty of people that got the tube. I honestly didn't think it had a chance at producing until it just exploded. It's nice seeing a well defined tornadic cell from your front porch though. I love time lapsed sups. Well done if you did get it though. :) Here's to many more in 2012!!
I agree...same thing with that damn sasquatch! Always breaking into my chicken coup and havin his way with the hens...
GREAT SCOTT
BEYOND EPIC
Woah that's insane
Yeah maybe watch the weather channel as theres always a line of super cells and they say all the time that a super cell storm DOES NOT have to be one storm by its self.
how can something so amazing cause so much damage
Into the sunset
This WAS a supercell that produced a tornado near Ada Oklahoma. Look up the archived radar data and tell me it's not a supercell.... Just because you can see outlying cell structures nearby does not mean this storm was not a supercell. But good job at trying to sound smart. BTW, I have a bachelor's degree in meteorology from OU.
Nice !
If you can see the supercell, it can see you.
dont forget treats, tornadoes love treats
With a very large bag.
grandioso
Deep convection...round 745 it explodes.
An awesome spectacle to watch! I am just sorry it spawned an actual tornado because I know how destructive they are!
Ale piękne kowadło się zrobiło :D
What City.
How to you 'catch' a tornado?
Beauty! It is more than such videos.... And after all at us in Russia people at all don't know as these clouds are called....
It QT creek a letter Mississippi
MAY 21! MY BIRTHDAY!
yes, but be carefull, I know from observation that they hoard them if they go on a hunger frenzy
You should take more pictures and render them at a faster frame rate for a smoother finish ;)

Es un Cumulonimbo no una Supercelula
that is just AMAZING. i am jealous of US for this only reason. supercells and tornadoes. nice vid

how many miles was it away from the cameraposition
At least 50 miles...
doesn't seem to have moved much in an hour.

?
OK
Ok ok, first of all be calm.... you can be proud on your degree and stuff,.. And BTW im also in a branch dealing with meteorological phenomena called "aviation". I told you what I believed to see, and Im open to any other opinion, like everyone else should when comments are allowed. Sorry if you get that wrong, but this vid doesnt look like a clear supercell storm TO ME. But as a meteorologist you should know that weather is all about interpretation...
Sometimes i think that intros last to long}»:(
whats that? OMG
:)
ths isnt a supercell... Thats a cumulonimbus.

This is not a supercell this is a single cell...because i honestly cant see the different stages of the different cells inside. A supercell would be like 20 to 50 NM big,and have from cumulus stage over mature stage to dissipating stage everything.. and this one doesnt look like that. But its a nice video
Nah Man,it either be a multicell cluster or a Supercell..definitely not a single cell
didn't you see the overshooting top?

you need to spee up you timelapse. try about 30 fps.
