You set the deck up so at the bottom you've got the 5 then the kings under it. Their card goes on top of the deck. Then they cut the deck. Now the order of the cards in the middle of the deck is 5 then the kings and their card. It's the cut that puts their card directly under the kings.

I knew this trick at 10 years old but not with kings or such. I used say make a scary face, we are going to scare your card right out the deck. When we found the upside card and they said no that's not it I would say well you scared this card into giving me a clue. And then count to their card

If they make three stacks then you re-stack the cuts and make sure the bottom stack goes immediately on top of the top stack. The middle stack can go anywhere, so you just gotta make it look convincing If they cut it normally and then cut it again, it won’t make any difference as long as they don’t happen to cut it exactly between that 5 card stack
