  • congrats on 1500. i love this video and i am also a trainspotter myself. if you want to see really good LNER and east midlands trains then i recommend going to Marholm in peterborough and grantham train station. there is also a good chance you can see some locomotives and grand central trains too

  • Great video but the transition between each video is a little too quick for me. I like to see the train coming and going a little more., feels a tad rushed. Just a comment, to each his own. Thanks for all the work you do.

    • Exactly. Saves me having to write that. There was also an irritating camera wobble with zippy zoom out at the start and wobble and crash-zoom in on the rear of the train after it's passed, that spoiled things a bit too. Just whip-pan the camera at the halfway point of the train passing. That's all that had to be done. Don't crash-zoom all over the place. Let the action do the talking.... At least just now and again.

  • If you want a good area to see plenty of trains, I recommend Birmingham new street, it is part of several lines including the WCML

  • I love the Virgin Pendolino. In 2001, I was working at Milepost 92 1/2 which (I don't know if it is still active) is a Picture Library and Photography studio near Leicester that worked closely with the rail industry and I played an active part in publicising the Virgin Pendolino, Virgin Voyager and the Virgin Super Voyager by the production of the Virgin Trains 2002 calendar and the press release CDs of the Pendolino and Voyagers that were distributed by Virgin Trains and official ceremonies (usually train naming ceremonies) held at London Euston.

  • I'm really fascinated by the tilting trains. Amtrak (in America) is getting new Alstom trains that will be tilting. I wonder how they're able to tilt like this when the rail cars will be connected via Jacobs Bogies. I should have worked in rail technology instead of information technology lol...

  • Great video but too quick to cut to the next train. You want to be able to hear the scream of both VP185s as an EMT HST passes, but the editing didn't allow for that. I'd give you 5/5 if you could tell whether you were coming or going. I ended up with near motion sickness!

    • @The secular humanist Loco hauled trains are not inefficient. An extra coach can be added to cater for higher patronage at a minimum of cost, plus modern locomotives do not have poor acceleration, Class 68 for example, as used on TPE services.

    • sadly no, there are regular passenger diesel powered trains on the GEML, there are still loco hauled 90/MK3 sets but that's as close as it gets. Obviously the shed hauled container freights do also use the line

    • @@chrispaw1 I believe many of the class 92 power units, previously operated on the WCML before the Pendolinos and Voyagers, the class 91 DVT units are cascaded from the ECML. In my opinion the 225's were the best thing to come out of the 1980s.
