The problem I found with this movie is that during fighy sequences, it feels like they are trying to show cool moves to each other. In the first movie, every blow was meant to kill. Both Kaijus and Jaegars showed no mercy to each other. They ripped and teared each other apart like there's no tomorrow.
Still, this movie might be bad, I don't know, I didn't saw it, but I enjoy the fights
@@rybr3ad I think by this point they've kind of learned that once civilians are evacuated, you have to use any means necessary to kill a Kaiju since they're just getting bigger and stronger. If that means destroying bigger things to try to crush one, so be it.

No, the Kaiju design and artstyle in this one is totally different from the first movie. Del Toro was meant to made the Kaijus based on real animales like a bat, crocodrile or a gorilla. In this second movie they looks like artificial and more off-world. Noticed the red color

Y'know I really appreciated how the first movie took into consideration how the jeagers would have to avoid causing excessive damage to their surroundings unless absolutely necessary. Yeah...how times have changed. This movie is horrible.

Having battles at sea made it look way better and for some reason cooler, also the jeager pilots in this film don't care about the damage even though they are supposed to be highly trained. Even if they had to resort to not caring about that they could lead it to sea because in strategy ,it would harm less people and cause less damage
Fight scenes are meh but not horrible
Plus the jokes and gags from the scenes are reused from the first movie such as the car alarm
All civilians were in their bunkers and most of those pilots were Rangers in Training. They have no combat experience thus explaining why they had no regard for "building life."

Not necessarily, the first movie was made with passion and a vision in mind, this was made for profit and greed, cinematography is what really tells apart the good from the bad
Pacific Rim 1 Jaeger pilots: "We need to stop the kaiju from reaching the city and protect the civilians at all costs!" Pacific Rim 2 Jaeger pilots: "I betcha we can destroy more buildings than the kaiju!" God this movie sucked.

@@illpunchyouintheface9094i agree, the jaegers cause more damage to the city than in the second movie. in the first film jaegers would almost never improvise weapons, the only jaeger(s) that would improvise weapons was gipsy danger that used 4-5 crates ad a weapon against leatherback, not to mention that in this film gipsy avenger used 3 or 4 buildings on one kajiu

@@Blizzardholocron There are so many different ways they could’ve handle that Kaiju other then causing unnecessary damage. Plasma Canon, aiming anywhere but it’s face and why assuming they have limited shots? Just empty the clip like the last movie, Duel Flaming chainsaw, they were able to cut Gipsy original blade, why would it be weaker? or wrestle it keeping it in place. Throwing buildings at it when it’s primarily design and existence is to destroy said buildings.
Best part of the whole movie for me was 1:00. Closest thing we have to a live action Titanfall.

@@blackpowderkun what i mean i wish uprising got a remake, black is good despite the plot hole but uprising supposed to be special if not because of the bad write plot. I remember back when the uprising trailer came out, the fan including me got al hyped up only to be disappointed with a sequel with good cinematic choreography and awesome visual but lacking in the plot department. Indeed black redeem the mistake uprising did with better plot but with couple of plot hole that are forgivable for some reason, but i wish some day, someone might thinking to remaking and fixing the uprising.

When the kaiju said *brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr* that really resonated with me. I feel that. (no literally felt that!)
Pacific Rim 3 should have: Adult Pilots Stronger and better designed Jaegers Stronger and better designed Kaiju More Precursor Screentime Raleighs Beckets Return Another Hostile Jaeger Human Controlled Kaiju Make Kaiju do more destruction then the jaegers Better Dialogue Make Jaegers slower and look more heavy duty Mako is alive?. See the past when Cherno Alpha and Crimson typhoon kill count kaiju before Otachi and Leatherback Another Gipsy Jaeger Another Etc Head, Spearhead Macehead whatever. See Knifeheads real name Flying Jaeger See the Other Jaegers and Kaiju’s that have no image in the Wiki. Make Kaiju have more screentime (Probably) make jake and nate grown so maybe we will accept them? More Animal behavioral and looking Kaiju. Newton Geiszler’s death maybe Make the jaegers use their weapons more often stop using punches and kicks. We see another Cat.5 or Cat.6 (comment any you want.) also anyone notice in pacific rim 1 Raleigh Becket piloted on the side when his brother yancy died?

I'd be happy with an actual prequal or sequel to the first movie opposed to the the cash grab like the second movie was
I mean, the new gipsy danger should be like gipsy eurika or something as a tribue to striker eurika for its sacifice at the ending of pacific rim
And maybe they could make a real kaiju jaeger. It could be explained by the detonating Jaeger at the end of the first nearly killed that kaiju, so it was rebuilt as a half kaiju half Jaeger. It could also be used to show other kaiju tech besides the portals and giant creatures. Give it a laser cannon in the hand and a lightning spear. And end it with an all out war between the kaiju and humans. Jaegers opening their own breaches. Kaiju tackling them back through. Maybe show what happens if you try leaving the breach before getting to the other side. The kaiju/jaeger getting upgraded to be stronger and faster, just like the Jaegers, and ending with having its original body completely rebuilt, and fighting Raleigh as he pilots Gypsy by himself. I'm not sure about the end, but maybe it could be the rebuilt kaiju stabbing its lightning spear through Gypsy's reactor, but is impressed by Raleigh and the other humans, and decides to spare their world and find a new one to colonize. If this rambling doesn't make sense, at least it's better than...this... And maybe it'll be worthy of calling itself a sequel to the original Pacific Rim.
add in a quip somewhere in the movie with a veteran pilot going "No teenagers, fucking dumbasses."

@@Blizzardholocron but the smarter thing to do in that case is to defend yourself and use the whip against the bear, not the trees.
@@user-b587 true, but comparison I guess would be a short nosed bear, which are huge, or they were because they’re extinct, you could try to use the whip, but I highly doubt it’s gonna do much, especially considering it’s a whip, but if you could use the whip to pull down relatively small trees, you can at least stop it from getting towards you, giving you enough time to get away. And for gypsy case, there wasn’t much for them to do, they can’t actually hit its face due to it absorbing kinetic energy, nor can they stab it because of the face plates, the only thing they can do are to pull down the buildings on its back.

In old days the pilot will sure be executed for those damages. Striker finished Metavore with 3 punch and 1 push to buildings but still keep everything intact, the final blown also calculated to make it landed mostly on the highway. The one on Mako's memory finished Kaiju with only 1 hit and lay it at the same spot and direction it came from.

they kind of did good for saber athena, As you see athena uses her legs to kick alot because that's probably to stun the kaiju and attack with her blades or lightsabers idk, The armor actually looks light and actually can be good for running quickly. Now for guardian bravo they did decent, Now guardian did not really get affected affected that much from the mega kaiju's ground attack but was too selfless and didn't think about the results if he failed which ended in him breaking.

I agree, I mean the first movie is definitely the better of the two 2 critical points I hear is that the pilots talk to each other when they have a neural bridge and they didn't talk to their partners in the the first movie. They actually did communicate verbally in the first film And the 2nd point is that the Jagers are too agile, like they're not supposed to advance their technology?
@@albertluttig1974 To be fair, its not about technology, you dont feel the weight of a 500 tons walking robot fighting a kaiju, everything moves fast, even the Kaijus
The kaiju here actually had that weird japanese style look, like shin godzilla for example, but yeah, the power ranger movement speed made them look strange and unreal, and the jaegers did not had any real identity behind, and most of their weapons were just a waste and not useful, and only caused more destruction to the city than damage to the kaiju, in the first movie most jaegers used their own hands for combat, specially striker eureka and cherno, weapons were secondary and only used if necessary, the only good thing i can find about this movie was the design of Obsidian fury, even he has some identity despite being a copy of Gipsy avenger made by the precursors
