  • thank you for sharing this file for free, i had a lot of pleasure building it and putting efforts in re-adjusting all the slot sizes of nearly every part. i think your choice of allowing a tolerance by default is not recommandable. just put eveything at size and let people set their kerf so everything fits smoothly instead of trying to guess what will be people's mistakes. Went for a stock build with my Ikier k1 48W, kerf of 0.075 (0.15mm total laser cut size), took 3 days to build, absolutely nothing was fitting properly (still able to make it work) So rezised nearly every parts, every gears and now able to build it smoothly. Anyway had an absolute blast building this masterpiece, i realise the gift you did to the laser community and would like to thank you for this.

  • Great video, but there were a couple issues. 1)There were no part numbers except a number 1 on the largest piece. 2)You need to know your kerf and need to compensate. My 5 watt laser took 6 hours but cut it well. The pieces didn't fit because the kerf on my laser was so narrow, not enough was cut off. That meant that the male pieces were too big and the female pieces were too small. Spent hours filing and sanding but finally got it together. It's still too tight to open with just the knob but if I help it with my other hand, it does work. I need to get better paste wax and see if that helps. Overall a beautiful piece with minor construction issues.

  • AMAZING! I have recently purchased an xTool D1 Pro and I have botched just about everything up I have tried to make. This video is perfect for people like me who are totally lost. I believe I can make this box! It’s well thought out and shot very well. It’s very “step-by-step” - which is apparently what I need. Where do we get the glue bottle and what brand of glue and wax are you using? This is a great video. Thank you!

    @pajtaj@pajtaj Жыл бұрын
    • Hi Phil. Thank you for your comments and support, we really appreciate it. For glue, we use titebond 3 but any wood glue will work. Any paste wax will work you could even use candle wax, it just makes the mechanism run a little smoother. I don't remember where we got the glue bottle from but is a 20ga needle on the bottle, here is a link to a set on Amazon that should work. www.amazon.com/Applicator-Bottles-Squeezable-Applications-Quilling/dp/B09R4DYDHC/ref=sr_1_5?crid=SMDAGEKLFHEW&keywords=needle+tip+squeeze+bottle+20ga&qid=1662043257&sprefix=needle+tip+squeeze+bottle+20ga%2Caps%2C101&sr=8-5

  • Thank you for the free files. A lot to learn from these files. At the 15:15 mark of the video is says to use part 27, 35, and 2 of 36. Is this correct? My part 35 looks different and the video looks like it only uses 1 part 36. Again thank you for providing the files and video

    • Hi, thank you for contacting us. Yes you are correct, it should say, parts numbers 27 and 37, and one disc number 36. Over 20,000 people have watched this build and almost as many have downloaded the file, yet you are the first to comment on the mistake. Well spotted. Hope you enjoy the build.

  • part 21 still has a gap in one section, plus one of the 'spokes' is inverse in color which would result in cutting the score line. i have the box made, but the two bottom cogs that meet up with the corner cogs won't tighten down sufficiently to make it work. those two keep popping off the corner cogs 😢

    • Hi Rae. I think you are using the original version of the file, the file on the website has been corrected for the issues you mentioned. Please check our website for the corrected file. As for the gears not going together, some thing may have gone wrong during your build. If you would like to email us pictures of your build (inside and out) we will see if we can spot the issue. freelaserfiles@gmail.com Thank you Harry

    @jeffmastin@jeffmastin4 ай бұрын
    • The little bottles are on line, Amazon or E Bay. They are 1oz or 2oz plastic squeeze bottles with Luer Lock tops. We use 18 guage blunt Luer Lock .5" needles, also on line.

  • Hi, we tried to build the Box, but Part 28 dont Fit in the Holes for the Plate and the Round Nr. 39. When i have correct looked the part 28 have 8.02 mm in the middle, the hole only have 7.62mm.. it also can be tha we made an failure. Sorry for my bad Englisch, its about 25 Years old my Shool English. :-)

    • Thank you for contacting us and for downloading our file. You are correct with the measurements of the parts. The hole in the middle of part 30 is smaller than the pin part number 28. They are drawn this way to allow for the kerf of the laser. We allow .30mm on each side of any cut. This means the pin will shrink by .6mm and the slot will enlarge by .60mm. This will give a tolerance of aprox .6mm. Do you know the size of your laser kerf.

I had to Set the kerf in lightburn on - 0.4 that fit some of the sticks and round plates BUT the Part 19 and 34 will not fit together. Something is wrong or better i make wrong and i dont understand it. Its a nice box and the Video is very good. You spend much time in It but it doesnt work on my sculpfun s10.

    • @@freelaserfiles , I'm still working through the files. I'm using the XTool M1 for this which is a new laser cutter to the market and the beta software is buggy which requires that I split out each part into two to three files for loading. I have found a few more issues while working through them. Parts 11 and 12 contain a swapped score / cut portion which could result in the hole being larger than intended and the score mark being on the cut out piece. Part 21 has a gap that will result in the piece containing the number to not be cut out. Otherwise it's looing good so far.

      @bryangatenby3@bryangatenby3 Жыл бұрын
    • Also, number 7's number is black, instead of red, and Part 5 is inverted (not really an issue as it's symmetrical).

      @bryangatenby3@bryangatenby3 Жыл бұрын
    • And, finally Number 1 has an extra cut out at the edge of one of the living joints which overlaps the intended one.

    • Thanks again Bryan, good eye. None of these should dramatically affect the build, but we have corrected the files and updated the file on the website. Let us know when you finish your build and send us a picture of the finished product.

    • Hi, I have a suggestion. Only parts 1 & 2 are too big for your machine. Use the file called "Parts Laid Out', cut the parts in half and glue them together after cutting. Hope this helps.

    • Sorry, can you guide me as to what parts laid out is like?

      @pedroreinoso2967@pedroreinoso29677 ай бұрын
    • Hi Pedro, our files are available in 3 layouts. You will need to download the files named "Parts Laid Out". This file has all the parts laid out in line. You will need to set out these parts to fit your cutting area.
