  • It’s amazing to realize that out of all the species, cats choose to speak ONLY to humans in a conversational way. They don’t speak to any other species like this. Cats love people, people love cats. It’s a perfect symbiosis.

    • That’s true. In the wild, unless mating or fighting, they are mostly silent. They are smart enough to to recognize that we are vocal creatures, and that is why they use their voice to communicate with us.

    • I have a life-sized stuffed black cat. My 3 rescue cats are all males, 2 of them solid black. Ragnar, our 16 lb. black cat, will sometimes mount the stuffed cat and do something I thought neutered cats didn't do, but he's quiet throughout. The 9 lb. black cat, Babadook, not only mounts and "performs," but meows loudly at the toy the entire time. He also carries it around the house in his teeth and meows at it when he drops it.

She was always very picky about her food often turning down something that she had approved that morning. Loved high places, and always took to the top shelves when she disliked a visitor except once: a friend of my sister came by once with absurd expectations and Boots sat on the back of the couch between us to slowly extend and clean each sharp fingernail one by one. I had a hard time keeping a straight face. He never called back.
