    • The list of reasons I dropped Netflix gets longer and longer. They use "Documentary" or docu series to push a narrative. These are the people who gave five episodes to Meghan and Harry. To... what? Now there are questions about Making a Murderer... But I had it by the time "Cuties" was there.

  • I’m a family lawyer in the U.K. and over the last 34 years have dealt with many victims of abuse - Jonny Depp was the victim, without a shadow of a doubt. The myth of mutual abuse was peddled in this case and it’s a myth. Abuse is about two things. Power and Control. That’s it ! If an abused person stands up for themselves- during abuse- this is NOT mutual abuse! Liveabusefree has done some fantastic videos on this case and she absolutely nails abuse. My heart broke for Jonny Depp in this trial. I’d followed the story for years before it came to trial and he was abused over again by Heard and her lawyers during this trial, it made me sick to my stomach to watch it. I’m so glad Jonny was vindicated by his amazing team of lawyers and you could tell they absolutely felt it for him. There was raw emotion. Camille Vasquez cross was stunning. Not watched Netflix series but will do now.

    • I totally agree with you. I am in France and I followed the whole trial (I know enough about battered women). All these allegations that made J. Depp’s career destroyed and his health was shaken were a scandal! In 2016, in a French magazine "Paris Match", A. Heard appeared with his "blue" cheek, and it made me laugh, so much I did not believe and I already found it ridiculous... but "the machine got carried away". This unbalanced woman, sought to avenge Johnny Depp with this announcement of divorce, since he had announced to her that he was going to divorce. After pocketing the $7 million, she did not hesitate to betray him in 2018, with the complicity of the tabloid "The Sun". J. Depp was remarkable in courage. What fights he fought! He did not have the legal means to shed light on the London trial. But, fortunately, the Fairfax trial was exemplary, Judge Azcarate of undeniable professional rigor and competence. Johnny Depp’s legal team, too. Many consider that lawyer of A. Heard, Elaine x.., was not good; I would say that A. Heard had so many lies to her " credit" that any lawyer would have been bad...

    • I totally agree with you, however I refuse to give AH and her PR team any light so will not be watching it. It's infuriating that Netflix would irresponsibly put together such a lame depiction (from what I've heard) of the entire trial. No way this documentary won't have some sort of slant in her direction as being the victim. It pisses me off actually that they could do this without being more thorough. Based on the popularity of the trial, it seems like a netflix scramble money grab. I watched the entire trial...JD was so clearly the victim, it's laughable that this is still being disputed. I simply won't allow Netflix to twist the story, leave out major facts etc...nope. Sadly, a lot of people who did not watch the trial will watch this "cliff notes" version (of a 6 week long trial) and come to an uneducated belief on who was the victim. Lame. People will forever need her, a woman, to be the victim. I am NOT a crazed JD fan either, just saw clearly through the BS that is AH, and her team.

Amber and her team really expected us to believe she was severely injured when there are pictures to prove she wasn't. And as a person who loves makeup and took some makeup classes in college I can tell you with confidence that there is no way you can cover swelling with makeup. The text messages made little difference to me. I wanted to believe her but she really expected us to believe she was that badly hurt and she just covered that shit with a little color corrector and foundation. Thats fucking ridiculous. I feel so bad for Johnny in all of this and now its all coming back up when I'm sure he just wants to forget it ever happened. Thanks for covering this.

    • I don't think censorship is the answer. On the contrary. Let them tell their lies, so that they can be exposed, and then we know who the liers are, and what are their "arguments". One of the "side benefits" of this trial, I think, was the ability to see, in real time, how mainstream media outlets distort the truth and cling to their narratives and biases. The trial was there for all of us to see, and almost every single person who watched the entire trial came out with the conclusion that AH was lying. Yet mainstream media outlets kept trying to sell their snake oil narrative that she's actually the victim. During and after the trial, Hoeg from Hoeg's Law YT channel kept dissecting article after article, carefully breaking apart their narratives and clearly showcasing all the spins, manipulations and distortions. I think this was highly educational to anyone who still believes that "news outlets" actually tell us the truth. As is videos such as this one, that open our eyes about "documentary" shows, and all the ways they try so spin a narrative rather then document the truth. So I say "bring it on!". The more they lie, the more we get to expose them. They're digging their own grave.

She either has very little trial experience or plays dumb. When first watched the trial thought that she didnt know about hearsay rules, but then in sidebars, she gives the judge a brief on what she thinks would be objected to as hearsay and why it should be let in at the beginning of the day. Why almost each question there was a sidebar esp during AH testimony. She then tells Judge, well Im going to ask and see what happens so that she can get the question in front of the jury even knowing it was hearsay. I dont know why you would do that except AH may have been insisting. It was a waste of time, made her look dumb and unlikable, and tried Judges patience almost to the point of contempt IMO. The mountain of evidence they wanted in was all hearsay.

I can't text my mother that my sister hit me, and then use that as proof, because there's nothing behind the text. It was definitely an interesting trial which is why so many people followed it! I also felt the judge and jury took this case very seriously and followed the law. Personally I think having it aired helped viewers see for their own eyes what was going on rather listening to media which can be biased at times.

Judge A seemed like she was trying to be fair and just being factual. Elaines lawyers struggled because a lot of their evidence was AH telling her therapist that something happened rather than it being medical evidence of injury. Anybody can say anything, and that was kind of the point of the trial. She made statements and didnt have the proof the jury believed that her statements were factual.

    @marysmith3057@marysmith30578 ай бұрын

And I’ve wondered why none of her many treating psychologists testified. Dr Hughes could testify about what was in the therapists notes, but could not testify as to whether the therapists actually believed everything they were told. Or why they did not report such brutal evidence of abuse.

  • My Netflix Take Aways: 1) It did a decent job of trying to be--or, maybe more accurately, look--balanced until the last episode, but left off one of the biggest facts that swayed me: the photos that Depp's team proved were edited to make shadows look like bruises and the pictures of Amber in the days following incidents that showed she didn't have any of the injuries she described. 2) They slammed social media for making millions covering the trial, but were silent about traditional media or, I don't know, maybe Netflix using it for content. Also showed a clip about You Tubers having just a few hundred views on videos with random topics who were now blowing up, then cut to EBD, except she was already covering law and had videos with tens or hundreds of thousands of views well before this trial. I cry foul! 3) It really tried to end with allegation that Depp support on social media was just bots and that people are no longer supporting Depp after the sealed documents were unsealed (the Boston plane texts between Deuters and Heard).

    @marguaritetherese3156@marguaritetherese31568 ай бұрын

These texts would change everything if they were presented, the problem was no one had originals apart from an iphone backup

    • I agree. She came off as unbelievable and overly dramatic. I wonder if she'll ever get another job because her acting was B A A A A D.

  • I hope I’m not overstepping by expressing my “confusion”. The “industry” has really tried over and over to help AH “clear” her name to regain her career. Why?? Does she have “knowledge” of certain famous people’s indiscreet actions? I just don’t understand the insistence with her specifically.🤷🏻‍♀️

    • I totally think she does. Wasn’t she referred to as the blackmail queen?

  • I watched it, was angry because they made Lawtube out as being only in it for the money. I believe based on the commentary during the trial everyone was fair in your opinions. As is typical with abusive people, it's never their fault, it is always someone else's fault. The jurors have been accused of not taking their oath seriously. That is despicable on AH and her attorney behalf.

  • Was the Netflix series sort of a rehashing of what we already learned from you?💕I haven’t watched it and don’t plan to -I had to cut an expense when I signed up for SLING. Oh no. Is it sympathetic to AH referring to this mountain of evidence -that she’s 😂been denied her a fair trial. Oh that’s so irresponsible of Netflix if that’s the case

    • Yep they are framing it as Johnny won bc of lawtube & social media. I stopped after episode 1

    • @@anastasiaabrahim9096 I can’t stand that whole scam that AH loves to dissolve into tears about (minus the tears) that she’s been pulled into this position so unfairly when all she wanted was to move on. She’s the attacker who won’t let go. Does she really think anyone’s buying this abused little victim role when she fluctuates between this and back to the screaming shrew when the meek vulnerable ploy stops working. 😡

  • Great recap and analysis of the side bars, Peter! The Netflix series did a good job encapsulating the entire 6-week trial in Parts 1 and 2. However, Part 3 dealt with the influence of KZheadrs and other social media on the outcome of the trial. I think that's so unfair. Yes, there was a lot of love for Depp, but Heard proved to me that she's a lying liar that lies. I watched the entire trial, and I'm sure the jurors deliberated and arrived at their verdict based on the testimony and evidence as instructed by Judge Azcarate. Elaine seemed rattled, especially when she introduced her client to the jury as Laura Amber Heard. The debacle with the make-up compact didn't help the case when the defense discovered that it hadn't yet been on the market when Heard claimed to have used it to "cover up her bruises". It must be difficult dealing with a client that lies to you and having no medical evidence of her ever suffering injuries at the hand of Depp. If you really want to understand all the nuances of the trial, skip the Netflix series and go back and watch Peter's coverage. He's one of the best in the business!

  • You do such an excellent job of explaining the why behind these sidebars: Why they happen and why or why not the objections get sustained. I'm really enjoying these followup videos on the JDvAH trial. So much happened over the 6 weeks of trial that we never got to see and understand, and now that we have the sidebar transcripts, we can understand! I'm not planning on watching the Netflix documentary because the mainstream media has done such an awful job of reporting on this case. Over and over again, they reveal an agenda to paint women as victims and men as abusers regardless of the evidence, and this case was as clear as you could get that she was lying and manufacturing evidence. I don't know why the media wants this narrative out there, but it's getting pretty disgusting to see it so much. Unless people start saying that they did a really good balance job of reporting the facts of the case, then I'm not giving it the time of day.
