Should I have Bought a Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake?
The Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake is quite possibly the ultimate 'wagon' and when it was launched I considered buying one, but did I miss out by not doing so? Join me at Aston Martin Newport Beach to discover the unusual estate car and explain a little more.
The Shooting Brake came in as the 4th variation on the Zagato Vanquish platform following the Coupe, Volante and Speedster, and the time it was shown to prospective customers I owned both my Vanquish Volante and Ferrari FF, hence prompting some consideration to making the purchase as the ultimate support car to the soon inbound McLaren Senna and Ford GT. However, with the values of the latter two, it was impossible for me to justify the addition of a car as expensive as this as well as the others.
To the present day then, under beautifully sunny skis in the OC, California, and car #15 out of the 99 Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brakes. Let's take a good look around the car including the electrochromic roof, V12 in the engine bay, and the unusual rear luggage compartment. Then it's time to head out onto the roads to soak up some of the exhaust sound and get a feel for the car in all its glory.

It's a good looking car but for a shooting brake the there's no room on the inside. Plus the price is crazy expensive
If/when the time comes that you can afford it then you should defo get one.
The shooting brake is a beautiful looking car...but like all Astons, the interior doesn't quite live up to the exterior.
Ben Mackay this car is pre-Mercedes partnership and based on the Vanquish S. The interior is pretty out dated

@@neb4587 Also, it isn't designed by Mercedes. Aston Martin us just borrowing bits and pieces from the outgoing Mercedes models, from their last generation models. So it is still an "old" car on the inside, even if it looks more modern than the one shown in this video.
@@neb4587 Nope. Aston Martin has just borrowed components and tech from Mercedes. Mercedes did not design the interior cabin though. Not at all. Also, as I stated, the components borrowed in the newer Aston cars are in fact from outgoing Mercedes models (same screens and tech as their old series cars from their last generation (not the new ones with the dual screen panels and tech).
@@neb4587 big difference. The made the screens, and the technology behind it.. but they didn't design the parts that it sits in and around it, as well as the rest of the interior (buttons, center console, seats, steering wheel etc. etc. etc.).
nice foreshadowing but you aren't fooling anyone we all know the video will come in 3weeks or so, I already I know the title "I just bought an Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Shooting Brake" with you in those wonderful shorts of yours crouching next to the car for the thumbnail.
All 99 units have been sold, and there’s no real reason to buy one second hand as they cost way too much.
I think tim would now buy other cars over this given the opportunity

@@texas3258 I don't think you understood my comment. These were somewhat affordable when new. I believe they started at around £350k. But they all sold out very quickly. Now all the ones on the second hand market have an astronomically high selling price.

The exterior design is stunning, very futuristic but the interior doesn't look a million dollars super car, the steering wheel is so simple no Wow factor but it drives and sounds great. The side angle looks like a Lusso.

The rear end looks like a scuplture. The convex and concave shapes are so expressive, it looks like a concept car. Also, this bodystyle being so rare makes it even more special to me.
Even though the title ends with a question mark it is hardly a question. If there the option to buy it, they answer is a solid yes. What a beautiful car.

Love the shooting brake styling. The Callaway Corvette Aerowagen with the SC757 package is still my all-time favorite dream car, but this Vanquish Zagato is incredible looking and probably #2 of my favorites now. Although, the Aerowagen is actually relatively pretty feasible as a goal for me, I can't even dream of obtaining one of only 99 of these beauties.
