The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Приехала на каникулы к бабушке, и услышала у соседа, моего друга, что тоже приехал на каникулы, запись на новенькому шикарном магнитофоне.Я все сумки побросала и побежала к Сашке через 2 огорода. • I really hope someone either changes the words to this extremely violent song and inappropriate song or the song be banned altogether: The song is about a man killing the woman whom he loves, but she is with another man. So he spies on her, and after the man leaves, he goes to her house. she opens the door laughing and he kills her with the knife in his hand.... Should we really promote this song with the existing lyrics???

The energy and enthusiasm of all of them-Tom Jones, the orchestra and the conductor are beyond crazy. This is truly a special performance and we’re fortunate that it’s up here. She said he stood on some platform to make himself look taller than he was. I was disappointed a cool older girl like her didn't like him and was rather embarrassed I was just a dumb nine year old and not being a cool teen saying I liked his show and songs before hearing her disapproval of him.

    • So true. Uber masculinity and UCB a clear powerful voice that he knew just how to work and deliver. I remember staying w my grandparents and watching Tom Jones perform on their “portable television” that was set up on the kitchen table. We watched Tom Jones on some evening variety show, maybe his or someone else’s. By then he was starting to wear open shirts w a big cross. I had to smile at my VERY devout grandmother (sweetest Edith Bunker type) who frowned, shook her head and muttered how disgusting he was! I totally got what she was conveying, but TOM Jones had the most outrageously gifted voice and he was such an icon of the times. Some 55 years laterI am just blown away by his voice , and some amazing songs that he sang so brilliantly.
