MilaNO love for the Alfa junior? We check out Alfa Romeo’s first electric car | Electrifying.com
#alfamilano #alfajunior #electriccars
Alfa Romeo has revealed the new Junior, a compact SUV with a fully electric powertrain based on the Fiat 600e and Jeep Avenger. Originally given the name Milano, it was changed to Junior at the 11th hour following legal action by the Italian Government, which claimed that the Polish-built model can’t bear the name of an Italian city if it isn’t built in the country. Blimey.
Back to the car, there are two fully electric powertrains offered - the first uses the 154bhp motor seen in various Stellantis models. This gives a range of up to 250 miles from a 54-kWh battery. A sportier 236bhp VELOCE version will also be offered, using the same motor as the recently-announced Abarth version of the 600e.
The car will replace both the Mito and Giulietta in the range, with a length of 4.17m, width of 1.78m and height of 1.5m and will have a more ‘premium’ look and feel inside and out compared to the other brands in the Stellantis stable.
Despite its compact size, the Milano is said to have the largest boot in its class, with a load capacity of 400 litres.
Alfa promises the Milano will have Alfa-like driving dynamics and best-in-class road holding, thanks partially to a comparatively low weight. It has the most direct steering in the segment, and the VELOCE has 25mm lower suspension, bigger brakes and a special Torsen differential to offer the best possible traction in all conditions.
Other technology includes a ‘Hey Alfa’ voice-activated virtual assistant incorporating ChatGPT. Three option packs are available on the Milano, called Technology, Exclusivity or Sportiness. The Technology pack offers a handsfree electric tailgate, LED Matrix lights and connected navigation with virtual assistant. The Premium pack adds a vinyl-fabric blend interior, electrically operated driver’s seat with massage function, interior ambient lighting, and aluminium pedals. The Sport pack offers Sabelt seats, Alcantara upholstery and sporty exterior features.
Prices have yet to be announced, but are expected to start at around £37,000.

I bet people stick their own aftermarket "Milano" emblem on the Junior.
I'm going to add "Scooty-Puff" to my one
Italian government hate this one simple trick
That's what I thought! 😂
I would
Will Kia now have to rename the Sorento 😂😂
Actually looks a lot better there than in the launch pictures.
Yes the launch was a bit poor, why wait for some daft surprise reveal when all that means is that half-arsed spy shots leak out?
It’s a lovely little car, just a shame it’s electric only 😢
It’s also available as a hybrid with a 1.2 litre 3 cylinder petrol engine along with a 28bhp electric motor and will cost about €10,000 less than the EV version according to reports, which sounds about right given the price difference for the mechanically similar Fiat 600 and Jeep Avenger.
This and the Skoda Epiq are the first non-leviathan EVs that look good. I await the baby Id2 VW offering. Now if they can price them attractively…,
@@Foucault2001 ah thanks, that sounds more like it.
With the vintage grill, it looks tremendous.
i like it a lot too!!!
It's a breath of fresh air and looks cool. Not the usual SUV blob!
i agree!
It looks like the Mokka
I believe it looks beautiful!! And those wheels are gorgeous
👍
We Italians love to complain, it's something we do as soon as we can, and it's undeniable who this car (I would say more Stellantis) gives easy opportunities to criticism. For us Alfa Romeo is a special brand (I can't write its history, my English is too bad, but whoever wants can read something about and learn new things), so it's obvious that if "you" make a car that has a platform common to the other Stellantis brands (ie not specific for Alfa, like Giulia and Stelvio) and you build the car in Poland, some Italians (many) get pissed off. After all, it's something that happens with all manufacturers (at least those with many brands, classic example is Volkswagen), it's one of the many ways to reduce costs (the same reason why it's not built in Italy). That said, the design is Alfa, they did a good job, the car is (aesthetically speaking) nice, for sure how and more of its segment competitors; so, if the price will be right and the car does well, it will be the model that will allow us to continue making "true" Alfa like Giulia, Stelvio etc (it don't need to be a genius to understand it).
Good comment.
Alfa has been losing money for decades. Its easy to moan about shared platforms but without them the Alfa would not exist any more. I have owned 5 over the years and love the cars but I fully get the direction they had to go. Also, the Junior/Milano is 10 times the car that the Mokka or Fiat is. A shared platform does not make them the same car.
@@cannavaras No offence but there are things that, if you are not Italian, you cannot understand (something to do with the relationship between Italians and Fiat, the Agnelli family etc); that Alfa Romeo uses a Peugeot platform (it should be the opposite at most) and is built in Poland is an insult to the Italian automotive industry. Before writing, one should know the history of the car and that of Alfa Romeo (Alfa is basically the brand that invented the racing car for the general public). Despite this, I've also wrote many positive things: who is normal to share platforms and much more, who the design of this car is Alfa etc (but all this, it has nothing to do with the sentiment of Italians versus Stellantis, Elkann etc). Again, it's not a fault but if you are not Italian there are things you cannot know on the relationship between Italy and the Agnelli. PS The latest Alfa financial results are positive.
@@lazios wow. Blind mate.
@@cannavaras Blind? Again, I'm positive about this car and I understand the reason behind Stellantis choice, I've only writing which is the problem between Italians cars lover and Stellantis (in particular Agnelli/Elkann family). If you want understand ... ok, otherwise I don't know what say (again, my English is too bad to talking/debate about something so complex). 🍺
I absolutely love it, this for me will be Alfa number 6.
Yes and from one to five?
Alfa #3 for me ;-)
Actually Alfa Romeo produced a sedan called Alfa 6 from 1979 to 1986.
Nicola, you are a very fun reviewer, excellent job.
Not only budget reasons my DEAR but QUALITY. Made in Tychy my town is/was made FIAT 500, Lancia Y, FIAT Panda, Jeep Avenger, FIAT 500e , FIAT 600e etc
yeah they should have called it Peugeot Tychy
Best looking Alfa SUV so far.
Alfa's SUVs shouldn't exist, isn't in alfa DNA.
@@saggioperduto_7566 I understand but they probably need to turn a profit.
Great looking car. Lot better than most suv, more hatchback than suv. Hope not overpriced.
32.000 euro with shit engine 1.2 puretech
@@andreasankara That is already 3rd generation of a Puretech engine so may be it's better and more reliable than before
@@mesasartworks ma lascia perdere , quella merda di motore su di un Alfa Romeo è un sacrilegio, comprate altro non comprate merdantis, un saluto dall'Italia
@@mesasartworks that engine its cursed. Give up
the price seems really good
The wheels are quad styled. Nice!
That rear “Moustache” is almost identical to the duck tail of the “Alfa Sud ti “ two door that was built way before you were born…! You have done a great job, thank you very much. I’ve already put my name down at the local dealer for one of the first to arrive 😅 Cheers
That presenter is very good. The car is nice also, although the 54kwh battery is underwhelming.
Love it especially the front ❤
I absolutely *love* that Nicola recruited Jack Scarlett for the rear seat legroom test. Even more hilarious that he left her "stuck"! Good fun.
This EV is absolutely gorgeous.
Shame it's so damn small.
no, is crap like all eV.
That is a beautiful looking car, always loved the styling of Alfa’s and this doesn’t disappoint whatsoever. The wheels, the front grill etc just lovely.
Beautiful car 🤩
I like it... But I like the Mazda MX-30, so I wouldn't listen to me. Seriously though, city run around with no kids (or dogs) I think it would work, and it does look different to lots of other stuff on the road, and I do like to be individual. Thumbs up Alpha. 👍🏻
I too like to be different but I draw the line at the Mazda MX 30!😅
mx30 us bigger , an other class Alfa segment B mx30 C
But the Ford Capri wasn’t built on the Isle of Capri…or was it?
You made a good Point! I guess most of the cars are not made where their names came from...🤔😜
The problem is the stallantis promises The said to make 1MLN car in italy but the car with more sells are made in poland on a french platform and engine...this is the drama of italian sounding Alfa is famous for made itself super satisfying engine...with this peugot platform it's a blasfemy for alfisti
@@giuseppeandreoli5689 That's why I call it the Alfa Romeo Curva...😏😜🤣
I was thinking the rear reminded me of the Lamborghini Urus. Now I cannot unsee Yosemite Sam. Thanks Nicola! 😂 Your reviews are always brilliant.
New to the channel, but loveed that presentation! Great delivery by the lovely lady. Kudos!🌟
Many people would have liked car more in linea with Alfa style. These people don't remember that this perfect car already exists. Het name Is Giulia, but She soldi Little. This in the car ti sell. Just my opinion 😊
Good point!
On the same side we have to say, that the Giulia styling(saying this as a giulia driver) is now almost 10 years old and i think it’s a good looking more aggressive looking evolution of the tonale. And the Tonale was already a small evolution of the giulia design. So I think it works really well. What I really like that it doesn’t look so suvish when a person standing next to it then it looks all by its self.
@@jaysb911Like the Ioniq 5--only in that it's bigger than it looks. Unless you sit in the back.
I have to agree lighted heater vents are the bomb, I mean, how else are you going to know where the air is coming from at night?
nothing to say ...different from previews models , but sill stylish as f**k
i agree
Can’t believe the cameo from Jack Scarlett!! More of this please.
Alfa is a driver's car, forget the passengers! 😂 My Mokka E is as tight as that at the back so I wouldn't worry about it! And may I say one of the best reviews, very detailed, thanks!
Love Nicola's fun reviews, nice and quirky!
Nice to see jack 😂
I always feel he's part of this channel,but isn't!
@@phil1980a same. I thought that and then I was like, wait Jack is actually not part of this channel, what is he doing hear?
I will never understand why Alfa has always beautiful brake calipers. But other car companies are putting back the drum brakes. Good job Alfa!
Cute little city car.
i agree!
Nicola is a great, lifestylish car reviewer! Love Your work - cheers from Poland!
I'm first time here on this channel. Thank you for the review. It's always nice to watch a car review from the woman's perspective! You even pay attention to the sound of blinkers😅 I'm proud that this Alfa model (even if it brings mixed emotions) is produced in my country. In Poland we say it could be named Tychano (Tychy+Milano)🙂
It’s actually a gorgeous car…purosangue cheat code.
"The Marmite business model". I love these guys.
I love that front end 😊
Here in Italy it is causing a lot of discussion, the Alfisti are on a war footing!!
front end of..?
Thank you, great car, great cockpit, no center high rising iPad!!!
Good job ! I'm italian and the alfa romeo junior is beautiful . Interior and exterior ❤
That bonnet looking open is a nod to the Alfa GTA which had a large gap there.
Love the cameo 😂
Thanks Nicola, i love your reviewing style. Yes, i "kinda" like the Junior? And now, for "something completely different". . . . . make that Junior a sporty 2-door EV. Anno 2024, that would be unique.
Bravo Alfa, being bold, keeping the Italian style
Pretty ironic that this has very little Italian design. Way more french lines
Love your reviews Nicola! Jack is brilliant! It's not my type of car, but I like the styling.
11:40 Love the tall Easter egg
That's was Jack!
@@yingmustang67 Is that her partner?
A brilliant review as always and I love the 'forced to stay in the car' when you are sat, squashed in the back seat. I think the car has some stylish elements but from the side profile, I do see hints of the New C3 and Peugeot 2008. So far, looks good but this would not tempt me into an Alfa.
I‘m not really interested in the Alfa, but Nicola‘s reviews are so enjoyable! I would probably watch her reviewing a dishwasher. Also, the collab with Fully Charged‘s Jack Scarlett was hilarious! How did this only get 1.8k likes?
Now we need to see Electrifying have a presence at the Everything Electric Show.
Yes finally someone who cares about blinker sound ❤
Great looking car….thanks for the review
Here in Italy it will arrive in car dealerships in mid-September. While it is already possible to order it from the Alfa Romeo website.
Amazingly funny review. Thank you Nicola
Love an Alfa... shame my last one decided the best place to snap its timing belt was the fast lane of the M4. Fun times!!
No chance of that on this one!
@@markbennett6658 ha ha no, you'd think not, but this is an Alfa, it bound to have some kind of financially crushing fun up it's sleeve!!
@@robcole5805 maybe but it’s a badge engineered Jeep, Fiat, Peugeot, Citroen, DS, Vauxhall etc. It might not even turn to dust if you blink?😂
Awesome grill. Like it. Best design on their platform up till now. Alfa always has best design in wheels too. Probably the most reliable alfa they made as well😊
In truth, the previous Giulia and Stelvio also proved to be very reliable. For Tonale it is too early to say.
Hey Nicola, love how you present. Its a very attractive piece of car. I would consider to buy it. Regards from spain
Me too
Always a head of other marques, beautiful finishing design. This Milano can be the grand kid of my Milano Verde (which is the Alfa 75 in Europe)
I currently drive the new mokka and i guess this shares a lot of the same underpinnings....the mokka does everything that i need and no doubt this would be the same...i really like the styling, yes its not a "PROPER" alfa but that won't bother the target Audience.
I love my Alfas (currently have a Giulietta) and I love my electric cars too (we have a Tesla, but have had all sorts of others too), but I can confidently say that I'd never buy an electric car that didn't have 1-pedal driving (braking). So much time is spent in queues of traffic that it makes jams so much less annoying. Stellantis presumably have gone the same way of Audi, which theoretically is more efficient, but in the Real World equates no no savings of any significance. This probably sounds really petty, but "routinely" two pedal driving really feels inferior to me.
I'm that 1 of that 10 that like this Jr!😙 So far hated the scratchy cheap plastic bits & the dark headliner but everything else I see, am lovin it!🤩 This Jr vibe is youngsters, so prbbly attracts them more!😙
Very nice review, thanks. I can't wait to see it in real life and test drive it. I think its a great looking car if you compare with the competition 👌🇮🇹🏁💨❤️
Love the look! Not sure why a front wheel drive needs a transmission tunnel??
And suddenly and wild Jack appears! He gets around a lot!
I love how you did a jack test hahaha
Great looking car. Love the Alfa design, the interior, the boot, the frunk, the amazing wheels, and the possibilities for a hybrid, electric and even an Veloce edition. Finally a new Alfa to replace my Giulietta! p.s.: new Stelvio in 2025, Giulia in 2026…
Beautiful as always
Really like this car , well done Alfa 👌
If you think back to the Mito, they used design cue from the 8C. I think with the Junior they have tried to take inspiration from the Giulia SW Zagato with its large grille emblem and the Zagato style kamm tail with the lights. I hope for Alfa's sake it sells
Not a huge (modern era) Alfa fan, but this is a good-looking car and so refreshingly different. Shame about the rear passenger space and lack of amenities - the only real fault that I could find. I adored the original Junior (my brother had an Autodelta-modified Junior in the 70s) and I love this car despite hating Marmite!!
My favorite Auto presenter... Nicole, u Rock !
What's missing and what makes EV a bit more interactive and fun is flappy padels that adjust the regen mode. I use it all the time in my old Mercedes EV.
I like the car - the reviewer also presents very well !
I love your funny comments 😂🎉 and love the review. When you came to Lisbon Portugal let's heva a drink of.... Champagne 😅😊 loves from Lisbon Portugal 🎉
What a beautiful car!
Holy cow - that car has buttons for air conditioning etc. - I WANT one!
looks unreal❤
Pls review the Honda eny1 thoroughly. Especially the breaking behavior
For me, it seems that the design of the headlights has similarities with the headlights design of Renault Arkana, Austral, Megane, and Captur. Because of this, I don't feel a strong Alfa Romeo identity in this model (at least in the front design approach).
Nice to See Jack again
no idea why people moaning about the design, I think it's cool and different than your bland similar car looks others produce
however in 2024 you only design with 100kwh max charging ??
I wonder if they will let you drive it in Milan🤔
Not under this government 🙃
Great episode; such a playful exuberance & finally good to see Jack being useful 📏
Great presentation, very watchable👍
Are there many small cars where an adult fits behind a 6'6" adult?
Exactly, if only car manufacturers made different size cars to suit larger families eh?
Hanno calcolato che potevano fare un bagagliaio più capiente togliendo uno spazio relativamente piccolo al passeggero posteriore che abitualmente o è un bambino o non c'è proprio!
Looks amazing nice sharp lines and curves love the angry look.needed more power
Alfa Romeo 🍀the History of cars
Nichola is such a star, plenty of info but I just watch for the giggles.
wow, looks great.
What about the Stelvio, made on high altitude in the Stelvio Pass?
I love the look of this car - much prefer it to the Fiat or Jeep versions in terms of interior or exterior styling. I also love that, for once, Alfa have put the front number plate in the middle rather than the side, which always makes me think of Ermintrude the cow from Magic Roundabout. But let’s face it, this isn’t a SUV - it’s a hatchback. It’s just that people think the only car they must drive these days is a ‘SUV’ and therefore it’s being marketed like that to ensure that at least 1 in 9 people will buy it.
Apart from the rear, I really like the cars design overall. Sideways reminds me a lot of a Nissan Juke and the back is a better version of a Lynk & Co 01. But otherwise, a very stylish car and will surely meet success.
It really looks great and it has way more personality and a much nicer interior than the Tonale.
3:30 Are those 4-leaf clovers? The wheel designer was probably saving these for the spicy Quadrifoglio version, but the ones in charge wanted them from the start.
Many thanks for the preview. The last Alfas I had were two GTV6s in the 1980s. They were wonderful but broke down regularly. You forgave everything for the handling and V6. It looks as if the Junior is less likely to have the reliability problems and have fewer things to forgive - anyway who cares about anyone in the back seats. Let’s hope it drives as well as expected. What I am really waiting for is to see what Alfa does about a replacement for the Stelvio V6 in EV form. A further thought, for the expected price of the higher end spec of the Junior I could buy a Smart Brabus #1 which faster and with 4WD.
Nice funny presentation Nicola ! a beautiful unique appearance in the mass of EV......
All these types of car should only have two seats in the rear or have level bench seat , is there a need for split seating? as the car is small, compact, more or less driven by older drivers who are down sizing.
It looks cool, it will be nice if it can hv a longer range and higher bhp
Whatever you think of this car the presentation was brilliant Best ever
I have an idea that this car will be talked about for a long time
Should they name it 145?
No, but Curva makes sense!🤣👍
Very good looking for the segment.
Lovely car, only the 'badge" is too much for me. Meanwhile the Hyvrid version got a nice badge and grill. So a bit strange, but OK, they need a visible difference to separate ICE and EV
