My dad was a U.S. Army Ranger in WWII, often behind enemy lines. To be honest I think he had PTSD, but it wasn't called that back then. He didn't like to talk about the war, but when he saw this sketch when it first aired he almost fell out of his chair laughing. I like to think that he's up in heaven shaking Tim Conway's hand right now. RIP Dad and Tim.
I Believe the term was called "Shell Shock". Being born in 71, my family would watch this show every chance they had. The golden age of comedy, which also seems to be a lost art. Comedy today is anything but what once was.
Born in 60. My 2 Grandfather's, 2 Uncles. All made it home.. we were all very close through the 80s.. They never talked. They all had nightmares bad through the 60s as I vividly recall staying with Grandparents at their lake home throughout my years. The GREATEST generation 🇺🇲
Nice story, bro.
My uncle was in wwii. I asked him what it was like. All he said was “the food was bad, the pay was terrible and it was a little dangerous.” He won the bronze star.
@@ericeck you are right. It quoted “for running across an open field under heavy German fire, heavily laden with explosives, repelled down a cliff, destroyed a German bunker, and took 9 German prisoners.” I read it off the award certificate.
Nothing better than when Tim looks at Harvey to see if he is laughing.
He killed me. He was so funny
The genius of Tim Conway was that he wasn’t trying to make us (the audience) laugh, he was trying to break Lyle.
Or Harvey Korman. Lyle Waggoner was lucky to keep his composure for as long as he did.
He succeeded. I guarantee you he didn’t sing that much of the song in the dress rehearsal
You are absolutely correct, and this id why he was such a comedic genius.
Yeah, and Harvey usually proved so much weaker than Lyle in that regard . . . which is one of the things that made Harvey so inimitable. I miss him.

These comedians were pure comic gold. No profanity, no nudity, just humor. I wish this kind of comedy would come back in style
Nothing worth while will ever come back in style again it has come and gone - we are stuck with the rubbish we have now.

Tim Conway was SAVAGE when it came to breaking up the other actors. So good.
R.I.P. Harvey,Tim,and now Lyle.Thanks for all the Laughs.God Bless you. ♥️🙏♥️🙏♥️😘😘😘

Tim Conway was the GREATEST OF ALL TIME!!!
RIP, Lyle Waggoner, Tim Conway, and Harvey Korman
"...All the world and part of Canada!" Miss you Mr. Conway.
Waggoner said later that he didn't know the railroad song was coming. He did a remarkable job of holding it together considering lol.
he was going to threaten the man with a gun to his head and there was no gun
That's the one thing I've always loved about that show. A lot of what Tim Conway did was ad-libbed. If you watch the show enough every single character and guest star on the show could never hold it together when Tim Conway started to do his thing. Him and Harvey Korman make the best team.
L Haviland no he didn’t. Tim owned him and Waggoner had no where to go..
Commentator his genius was that he wasn’t trying to make us (the audience) laugh, but rather his co stars which in turn made it even funnier....
Who made that song?
My mom went into labor with me after laughing heartily at this show. I grew up loving it in syndication. RIP all the folks who made this show such a treasure.
Jesus loves you John 3:16-17 Romans 8:35-39
My wife went into labor from laughing too hard at a Jerry Lewis movie...I guess laughter is the key to birth!!!!
I really love that story! I bet Tim would love it too!❤
What a story! ! 👍 😮😊Ooopss I had to edit! Made a mistake the 1st time.
As many times as I see this sketch, I laugh hysterically. What comedic timing, what fun they had. And what joy they brought to us. RIP Harvey Tim and Lyle. You are so very much missed.
Gee I didn't know Lyle was dead...RIP.
Amen & hallelujah to that Marlene!
I love this sketch! I laugh so hard I can’t breathe!
Conway was the best physical comedian, ever! Truly a rare talent. I think Carol Burnett had some very good writers to do their sketches, too.
@@TrapJacks2010 He passed away from cancer in 2020, from cancer. Age 84.
I don't care how old you are or young.... Tim Conway was one of the funniest people on the planet!!! If you can get your children or grandchildren to just watch one sketch....it is priceless!! No cursing or hurting people at all....simply funny and humor at its best! I cannot understand how ANY of the cast on the Carol Burnett show ever got through a skit with Tim!!! We sure miss you!! ❤❤❤❤
I am the most feared interrogator in all the world and part of Canada!
Lyle didn’t know the puppet was coming. The look of “Wtf?” on his face is genuine, him hitting back the puppet is improv, all of it. And he wasn’t prepared for it, so Tim knew he had him in the ropes when the singing started. As as Lyle was losing the battle, Tim just sang more... and more... and more... 😂
How could you keep a straight face when you're on stage with Tim Conway?

RIP Lyle Waggoner. He was a great straight man on the Carol Burnett Show and was as good in this sketch as Tim and Harvey. He was by all accounts a very nice guy who didn't take himself too seriously.
And Lyle was also so great to look at!😊
Tim had me in stitches. There will never be another like him.
I have seen this like 1000s time and I still laugh hard!!
One of the few times I saw my dad virtually in tears that were caused by laughing so hard. He loved this show.
One of the greatest skits of all-time. Harvey’s Fake German and laugh are epic; and Tim with the führer puppet breaking up Lyle. It just doesn’t get any better.

You see there was this dwarf and an Elephant
Lyle is probably thinking, "Now I know how Harvey feels."
... and about the elephant well the zookeeper is still looking for its ear muffs.
If Harvey didn't stop him Tim would keep going until Lyle lost it, it was his thing.
I think Tim told Harvey not to stop him until Lyle cracked completely. Just speculating.
Mr Conway your genius will be remembered forever.
Everyone loves The Dentist sketch, and the Siamese Elephant sketch, but I think this is the most underrated one ever. It always cracks me up!! He even got Lyle!! Aww Tim, you're already so missed...in this part of Canada. Rest Easy, and thank you for the laughs. Say hi to Harvey for us.
As soon as Conway saw them start to crack, he’d get that gleam in his eye like I’ve got them now. I give Lyle credit for lasting as long as he did, but as soon as Tim took out the “club”, he was a goner. I think they had to keep the camera on them because if they switched to Harvey, you’d have seen him cracking up for sure. Absolute comedic genius was Tim Conway- like Robin Williams, he could simply be funny at any second
The genius of Tim was that he wasn’t trying to make us (the audience) laugh. He was gunning for Lyle which made us laugh...
Apparently that's exactly what was happening. Harvey was apparently laughing on the floor
Lyle never crack up that easy, but with Tim, he don't have power to resist it...😅🤣😃😄😂 RIP all three of you great gentlemen. 💕💞
Lyle Waggoner passed away just days ago. Married 60 years to one wife, Sharaon! What a great example. RIP and may God comfort Mr. Waggoner's family and friends..
I just learned the sad news. He passed away about the same time I have been watching these CBS clips. I agree his enduring marriage is a great example, especially for Hollywood.
XPN Media I always felt he was underrated. His comedic timing was fantastic!
sorry to hear of his death - 60 years married; condolences to his wife and family.
Wow, that's a long time, especially in show business. I'm very glad to hear that, but I'm also sorry for his wife and family.
Surprised he didn't die of laughter thinking of these skits
After my dad tragically passed away when I was 12, my mom and I looked so forward to watching this great show together,,so brightening up our Saturday nights and our lives
Jesus loves you
I think Tim made it his mission to make the cast laugh as often as possible.
He always had something up his sleeve. Carol always said no one knew what he would do, just like the rest of the cast. Perfect example....Elephant episode, Conway ad libs, Vikki Lawrence drops them all on the floor...even Tim.
Yes, Mr. Conway admitted in later interviews that he made it his personal mission to do so.
Just learned Lyle Waggoner, 84, died hours ago... So handsome, funny, good actor. REST IN PEACE

Well, he did laugh, you idget.
I got tired of waiting for this to be funny.
I saw Harvey and Tim in concert. Stomach was sore for days from laughing. One of a kind duo.
I saw Tim Conway and Tom Poston in a play in Dallas. After the show, they came out to talk to the audience. In the middle of talking about how much he likes doing this play (which he wrote), Conway suddenly says, “Of course, if Carol calls, I’m out of here.” And Tom Poston follows with, “Yeah, if Bob (Newhart) calls me…” I think those lines got a bigger laugh than anything in the actual play.
How lucky were you. Very jealous.
That evil laugh of Harvey's at 10:52 is priceless! Miss them all!
This was when TV was good TV shows like this. We're awesome, gotta love the show. Gotta love Carol Burnett.
Making millions laugh with a puppet and a pencil. Beyond comic gold.....this man was a gift❤
Rest in peace, GORGEOUS Lyle Waggoner.
The way he fakes the German accent is absolutely hilarious, just brilliant
Tim knew he could break Harvey.... but he wouldn’t stop til Lyle broke
Which happens to fit in perfectly fine with the skit, to break the prisoner! 😃

My only regret of this scene is that we couldn't see if Harvey was losing it during the puppet stuff. It's still insane to realize all three men are gone...
