We keep doing our rescue mission despite the war in Ukraine!
As more and more people flee the country, more pets are left behind.
Involving more volunteers, expanding our facilities, and working hard, we try to save as many furry friends as possible. They are always in need of our help.

    • we are blessed to have a 1/2 acre lot 3 blocks from the river. so we have lots of feral cats, raccoons, possums etc. i've been leaving dry food for the feral cats for about 2 years now and 'bout a year back i gave them some wet food....now they're spoiled and won't eat the dry food. So the dry food gets eaten by raccoons, possums and birds when the sun comes up. Oh well, even are feral cats are spoiled, welfare recipients, but hey, as long as they hang around and chase rats, it's all good. LOL.

    • I saw that the signs were in Cyrillic, so I assumed they were Eastern European, and when I looked at the description it seems like they are Ukrainian and these dogs were not able to flee with their owners. Probably there's not much the town can do for these dogs.

  • does the military ever reach out to the shelters about trainable dogs? after Patron got that medal, you would think they'd be searching for more dogs to train, and it would make sense to use stray dogs. a mine sniffing dog can save a lot of lives.

    • I lost my HoneyDo to a stroke on September also. I had lost my service dog (who found Honey and adopted her) in December. She was sleeping at my tummy...it was sudden and over quickly. I wasn't prepared at all. She was young and healthy. The only difference is...she was very attached to my service dog. The vet says that dogs can die from broken heart syndrome too. 😭 Now we have our Rumpum (who we got to keep Honey company while we were out of the house)...and we're having to watch him very closely. They were all together for 14 years. Best friends. I'm sorry about your little one. I know we'll see them again someday.🤗

  • Wonderful work you are doing just hope you are supplying lots of water with all the dry food. Had you considered adding water to the kibble making a soup before feeding. I know starving dogs will eat too fast and might develop digestive problems.

  • Ages ago dogs made an agreement with the dog nation. The dogs would hunt for us, protect us, remain loyal, and be a companion to people. In return people would have to provide food, water, and shelter. Dogs have always kept their part of the agreement, but people very seldom will keep their side of the agreement. Like they say, if heaven worked on virtue, your dog would go to heaven, but you wouldn't.

    • They're probably used to people throwing food out the windows of their cars. You notice the dog ran up the minute the window was lowered and as soon as it saw the person didn't have anything in their hand it basically went away. Not everything is a conspiracy. Take the tin foil hat off for a minute. Bad things happen in the real world. You can see the ribs on all of those dogs. None of them are well fed or well cared for. If one looks a little heavier than the other it just might not have been homeless long enough to lose a lot of weight. Why is it so hard for people like you to believe that someone could, out of the kindness of their own heart stop and feed a straight dog? Not everybody has an ulterior motive. I do this shit all the time. there's a ton of stray cats where I live for some reason. Every night I set out a big bowl of food and a big thing of water and every morning it's gone. It costs next to nothing and makes me feel good. You should try it sometime maybe it'll change your worldview. Or not, maybe you'll still be a cynical ass😂
