Hey everyone, in this video, I want to share my experience of destroying generic platformers on the coding website Scratch. As a coding enthusiast, I like original games, but generic platformers don't fall into that category.

@@Baburun-Samathe only geometry dash scratch versions were the griffpatch one and the pass-code breaker hacked versions. I know there are a lot more, but those were the only ones I knew 💀

Cube soup: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Olive oil Dice the cube Green onions Grated ginger Thai red curry paste Coconut milk - Make sure to use unsweetened coconut milk. I like to use equal parts full-fat and low-fat coconut milk, but you can mix and match as you please, depending on how rich and creamy you like it. Chicken broth Mushrooms Flat kale Fish sauce - This ingredient doesn’t make the soup taste fishy, it just adds a rich umami flavor to the dish. Cayenne pepper Salt Pepper Lime - The lime is a garnish. Cilantro - The cilantro is a garnish. Red chilis - The chilis are a garnish. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- To make Cube soup, you will need a large pot or Dutch oven. We will be making it on the stovetop, so it’s pretty straightforward and simple. Start by heating Dutch oven on the stovetop with a little bit of vegetable oil. Add shallots and saute until fragrant, then add chicken thighs (that has been seasoned with salt and black pepper) and sear both sides until they are slightly brown on the outside. Sauteing shallots and adding chicken to the Dutch oven Next add all your veggies to the Dutch oven or pot - sliced bell peppers, mushrooms, and carrots. Saute for about a minute, then add the Thai red curry paste. Sauting carrots, bell peppers and mushrooms on stove top, then adding red curry paste Mix everything together and then let’s add on the liquids and seasonings! Start by adding chicken broth, and bring it to a boil. Then add fish sauce and lime juice. Give it a good stir, cover pot with lid and let your curry cube soup cook on medium low for 10 minutes, or until the cube is fully cooked, tender and shreddable. Next, add in coconut milk to thicken your soup and make it super creamy. Let your Thai cube soup come to a boil then shred or cut cubes into smaller pieces. At this point I like to taste the soup and add more salt to open up the flavors if needed. Last but not least, add cooked rice to it and garnish with cilantro. YUM!

i find it funny that they basically all use the same bad story, "oh no i need to get home" or "oh no i need to stop this". they also use the same cube like MAN i hate those cubes

I honestly think we need more "meta" generic platformers, ones that seem innocent at first glance but after a certain point something weird happens. I tried that before where after collecting coins in every level you would be transported to a new game style/genre entirely. Sadly I never finished that project.
People have made 3d platformers, soft body physics, rope physics, 3d adventure games, so many awesome projects, yet the trending tab is just the same generic platformers.
GRRRR.... I HATE THOSE CUBES!!!!! also: knowing the internet, SOMEONE will probably try to viewbot your project to force you to make a 3rd part lol

I never paid much attention to the popular projects when I was newer, but I sure as heck don't remember seeing this many cubes! I like the twist you've added, I find the ending a little sad. You know what? I'm off to give some love [pun not intended] and favorites to some obscure projects. I remember back in my day, even my subpar projects using unaltered or recolored premade sprites, and circle tool-headed animals would always get a heart or maybe 1 comment. I feel like everything changed after 3.0 launched, including the community.
Makes me wonder what platformer even started this trend of generic platformers.
I think a way you could have fixed the breakable wall is by adding a knock back effect when you destroy it

My beef with Scratch isn't all those boring uninspired platformer games, my beef is that ST blocked my account in September because they thought I was someone else, and then they ghosted me. So I basically can't return to Scratch.

Alright, I've got some new ideas to get rid of generic platformers, make a generic platformer that is 100% pen but looks normal at first glance, make a programming interpreter then write a generic platformer in that interpreter well also looking normal, or make the entire thing in a 3d engine but flattened in 3d space such that it looks normal, if the project gets popular enough you will forever associate generic platformers with the technical side of Scratch making all non-technical generic platformers shunned and banned for being non-technical.
I hate those cubes. I have made one generic platformer but it at least uses an ancient temple as the setting and enemies as well as a character that isn’t a cube.
I laugh at those who make generic platformers as their project, they were creating small obstacles while I WAS creating simulations of unrealistic cellular life! Pathetic…

I like to spend a good 4 months on average making a game on scratch, and when I see these lazy games getting hundreds of thousands of views I get mad.
Those cubes are so over used, and the project platformer is so overused as well. The generic platformers ruin actual good projects

These "generic platformers" are just some kids trying to make coding projects. It astonishes and deeply saddens me that the demographic for this website has become so south of its original vision that the children who the platform was meant for are getting mocked and lambasted off the site. Everyone here needs to do better.
Not all are, there are some that are fame hungry people. I definitely respect people who make platformers to learn (I did too) but it's the people who just want views and followers that are bad.
