I really wish they had those buttons on the side of the left click on the basilisk, I love them on the g502. (I use them as other keybinds, not for dpi switching) it's the one thing that makes me like the g502 more.

it won’t let me reprogram mine into buttons instead of dpi up or down i hate it i had bought it hoping all four were programmable and they probably are but i don’t know how to. i wanted me to put my walls and floors on those two for fortnite lol.

@@RickinICT yeah i had installed it all but it wouldn’t let me swap those keys, just those ones for some reason unless i didn’t know what i was doing which, is a good possibility too haha.
@@stevie_stevens7134 You can definitely remap them. I just got one today and remapped. Make sure the G-mode isn't activated when you map, otherwise it only activates when holding a button with the G modifier mapped (used to create a 2nd function for each button)

Nice video, I was looking forward to getting a G502 but I ended up purchasing the Basilisk with the dock. It is extremely awesome to use and the dock is quite more convenient than I had imagined. Luckily that I got the Basilisk since the scroll wheel of the G502 is so loud that I only realised after watching your video. Very nice!
Good choice, I actually prefer the basilisk too. The battery life is exceptionally impressive compared to the g502
@@Arcamus325 yeah and the RGB is also cool, it might consume your battery a lot but still worth it and with the dock, I usually place it when ever I put my PC in sleep mode for dinner or sth and that couple of minutes keep your mouse never run out of battery (of course without excessive use)

How is the on board memory for Razer? I use the g502 for productivity and for the life of me configuring the buttons is mind boggling.

Good video. The one thing I probably would have gone over is price point. I'm guessing at the time of the video the cost wasn't the same. As you can find a wireless basilisk the same price as a wired G502. This might be a considerable check point for later comparison videos.

Can you tell me about double clicking issues solved in new Logitech mice? Because for the kind of big and heavy preference of mine I had to go Logitech but now I want to change for the double clicking issue in it. I have Rival 5-600 in mine but you have any other suggestions? And this was the first video I have seen of yours and I liked it, really nice review and depth to explanation. 👍

People with bad experiences will talk. People with good experiences don't always talk. From what I've read so far, good/bad long term judgements are about 50/50 for this mouse. Now think the vast majority of people that has 0 complaints and therefore doesnt feel the need to cry out about anything online. It's hit or miss, but chances are in your favour of getting a good one.
I'm using my Razer Deathadder V2 for around 1 year now, and I don't have any problems whatsoever! :)

My second logitech G602 has begun double-clicking, so it's time to replace it. The fact that two of them started double-clicking relatively quickly (first one was still in warranty, leading to the second) has made me think twice about another logitech, even though I LOVE the ergo of this thing (also doesn't help that they don't make it any more and the new designs don't appeal to me as much). It's pretty much come down to the basilisk vs. the logitech. This video was helpful

why mask ? lol. good review after watching it i decided to just get the razer orochi v2.
I feel that the baslisk's sensor is better because it can achieve more ips (inches per second) which is more useful since it tracks better and nobody is going to be playing on 25k dpi
I have had a basilisk ultimate for the past years but recently a family member had broken it, the g502 has been a good affordable replacement.
The Logitech G502 vs. the Razor R502. This is going to be quite the comparison.
I got 2 g502 , the wireless version and an older model with cabel. The new one has different ( lower quality ) switches then the old one . I have sadly got a bad one that has the clicking issue , im going to change the switches soon because they realy are a problem when you play FPS games ( full auto firing is randomly stoping....) The old model is still working fine even after 6 years now. I only bought the new version so that i could give the old version to my little brother. If you think about getting the g502 wireless pls consider that you may have bad switches and need to change them , get a refund or a replacement model. I have read many reviews and it seems that it is pure luck to get a good one so changing the switches should always be an option. Good luck with your purchase !
this is very tru my logitech wired version has the clicking issues every once a year i have to open it and clean the switches especially left click
I want to get a G502 because it just looks cooler imo. Plus i heard that the basilisk has build quality issues that start being noticable as time goes on. Also i don't trust Razer mice that much. Got a Viper mini a month ago and the switches broke after a couple hours of me playing games. Returned it for another one...same issue. So i said f it and went with a G102(203) Lightsync. Haven't had issues so far and love every second of using it. Once that dies on me i'm getting a G502. I just trust Logitech more to deliver... it's a shame that they're using Omrons tho...
I’ve heard many complaints regarding the basilisk poor build quality, but I’v been using mine daily for almost 6months and it still works and looks pristine. I made a sound test video on the basilisk ultimate’s switches after 6 months of use. Feel free to check it out.
@@Arcamus325 although yes i do agree that both of them are nearly identical in terms of shape and feel(feel as in if we're ignoring weight...but then again most people i know don't really care about weight). It's pretty much a gamble whenever you buy a Razer mouse. You never know whether or not you're gonna get really lucky and get a good copy or unlucky and get a bad copy. But it's completely the opposite for Logitech mice. And the main issue with those...and so far most recurring issue is double clicking. If you have a soldering iron and replacement switches of your choice it shouldn't take long to replace them. If not that then i heard Logitech has excellent warranty service and if you have any issues they'll send you a new mouse for your old one. Even tho it's a matter of personal preference at this point...there's no denying that if you decide to go with Razer... you're taking a gamble every time. Sorry for the late response
@@titaniumx3712 yeah exactly, got an orochi v2 that works flawlessly since release and a basilisk x hyperspeed that started double clicking after 3 weeks. Might be because the latter is a more budget mouse and it’s not really their concern and cuz it doesn’t have optical switches. Like I said I already have an orochi v2 for more competitive gaming so I’m gna buy one of the wired version of these 2 mice for about less than half the price. Objectively the basilisk is better with the switches and the feet, but I’ve had friends that still have working g502’s till this day so idk. Prolly will get the g502 since it’s literally 30$ less expensive and has prolly better quality

And how can Corsair and Logitech make such great mice for cheap. Got a Corsair Katar Pro a couple months ago and gave it to a family member a month ago. Tried it out again a week or so ago and it still works like a beast. Ik we in the mouse community like to make fun of Corsair but i gotta give them credit here...for a 20€ mouse they nailed it. My main is a Logitech G102(203). Switched to it after the Viper Mini disaster i went through( i wanted to get a g102 originally but reviewers and their bs brought me to Razer's side... clawed my way out of that mess lmao). And for a 30$ mouse it rocks. Excellent build quality, great switches, built like a brick...also egg. If Logitech and Corsair can make excellent mice for less than 40$ why can't Razer make a decent one for 60$. Razer as a company is a fucking joke
@@titaniumx3712 Because they want more money... Look, you said that your Viper Mini broke after couple of hours of usage, and returned it and same problem happened. If that is the case, maybe it is planned to be broke after short time of using it. The more you buy the more they gain...

Razer gives you a more premium feel in boxes if you buy the dock included. But if you buy them alone it’s like getting a replacement product and won’t really be as high quality as if it was with the charging dock. (This also applies to the Razer viper Ultimate)
I got the Basilisk, mostly cuz I own a Razer mousepad too. My old mouse was a ASUS ROG Gladius II which was a bit more heavy than the Basilisk Ultimate; Overall I'm happy with my purchase.
What about g502 vs mx 3 ?
I dk man my g502 light speed with weights don't even feel so heavy at all, also my battery lasted me one month without charging of course this is just standard used after work. Hyper scroll once you got it you can't go back without it.
my PC cant run with razor software installed sadly, it gets real glitchy and unplayable with it

As a mac user: For what i see, having support from the company makes it up. Since we’re able to download the G HUB, unlike razor’s sypnese, we can change stuff often, but usually we dont notice.

the Basilisk has in normal use with RGB a time of 26 hours for my experience
got the basilisk for xmas and i absolutely adore it. the RGB is a bit disappointing but with the matching chroma mousepad it looks very clean
the one and only thing i dont like about my 502 is definelly the precission button, i have small hands and that button is simply unconfortable to reach, i have to switch my hand grip a bit to have it near when playing sniper, i own quite a few mices, and the 502 has an almost exclusive use for single player fps games because i dont need a lot of buttons, for online fps i only use a 305 or a steelseries sensei. depending how much i need those extra butons to perform certain actions.

I love your review its very in depth, how ever you missed one point where basilisk has very easy to use charging dock than plugging a cable in to your mouse. and also there is a down side as well because you cant use it while charging.
Logitech has Powerplay which means the mouse wirelessly charges while you use it. While yes the mat is an extra cost it is in my opinion worth it, I've been using Powerplay with the G903 for a few years now and just don't have to think about charging my mouse.

Please note no one covers in review that basilisk thumb grove is not suited for all hands if you have big hands you will suffer as the thumb doesn't fit properly. I had to send mine back if not for that it would of been excellent mouse
What immeditely killed me on logitech mice when my Razer Mamba Wireless 2012s switches died from overuse, was that I couldnt map scroll up and scroll down to functions. I almost refunded the logitech then and there. The logitech was also too flat and not filling enough for my palm grip so Im literally gonna have to go back to Razer and this Basilisk for my Mamba replacement. The ergonomics seem comparable to my old mouse, but palmier.
the g502 shape is refined from mx518 made to be better suited for play fps games, you can call the it upgraded shape for logitech
You did a great review that was a informative and gave me some things to think about. With that said, I would’ve liked if you compared the software for each mouse… I think that’s an important factor as well.
Razer software macro are sucks aside from keep crashing, sometimes u need to restart just for it to work properly unlike logi u wont have a problem like that

I have said this elsewhere too. The logitech 502 build quality seems much more durable to me. In my experience Razer mice in general break much sooner. On the other hand I have heavily used my Logitech for years now and it is unbreakable. It just works... always... no matter how bad I treat it during gaming. I think the weight difference is a total non issue. It is one of those things people go on about that in practice do not matter. I think the scroll wheel sound is a non issue too. It is virtually silent. I never noticed anything during gaming. In general I think the G502 is the best mouse I ever had, and in my 30 years of intense gaming I have had many, many mice of all sorts and all brands. There is room for improvement: I would have liked a pinky rest ridge at the right side of the mouse, and perhaps a LED lit scroll wheel.
Ordered not one, but TWO Basilisk Ultimate's and both had some form of quality control issue or another. Ordered a single G502 and its rock solid. Even though the basilisk offered the better charging (i prefer a dock over cable), longer battery, and a better overall palm feel, I could not stand the poor build quality of the Razer. Even paid MORE for the G502 than the basilisk. Razer, if you care at all, build better products, not gimmicks.
Odd, my Razer mice never broke but my current G502 has been repaired once and is now experiencing heavy double clicking on both left and right click. So I ordered the Basilisk Ultimate + dock bundle and it should arrive in a few days

I have a different experience with razer. I had 2 death adders and straight up best mice i've ever had. A few years back i tended to rage a lot so i punched, threw and abused the mice overall. Lasted me 4 years and the other one 6 years. I've just opted for the logitech GXS because viper ultimate had one design flaw, but otherwise I'm all about razer. I had only good experience with the peripherals.
re battery life, the quoted 100 hrs is best case senario with all RGB turned completeley off. But who does that when u buy a RGB mouse....
if you buy razer basilisk with charging dock the packaging is very similar to g502

@@Arcamus325 I have a razer mamba elite, and a cynosa v2 they are both really good combo just that the software feels outdated, glitches a lot whenever I press the dpi button and it freezes and just stays the same color and I have to reconnect it and it really sucks and Logitech has a good software looks way better and I asked people who have the g502 if it glitches when they press the dpi button and they said no please just do a whole comparison with Logitech vs razer

While I have a g502 currently and really really rate it it’s old 5 years at least and due for new switches, current one has a issue with sticking the right click as of late 🤨 I think the build quality has been great and the longevity is pretty good. I’m almost tempted to buy a couple and put one away as a back up but I also want to try the razor out also for another option. Thanks for the video.

You can program any button to be the dpi switch for both the basilisk and g502, so I didn’t cover that
