  • Thanks Yichen, I learned a lot. I'm tackling both front and rear pads now thanks to your video. There is one tip I have for those with the air suspension on their Macan's. Porsche do highly recommend to turn the air suspension system off before raising the car and removing wheels. One simply holds down for 10 seconds the button with car symbol and down arrow on it on the central console. A warning/confirmation note appears on the dash display. After you're done, lower the car and do the same to turn it back on.

  • Thank you for posting this and especially a big thank you for creating a quality video. It helped my project go smoothly. For the rears I did not use the Autel MK808 diag. scanner, but will be ordering one in the near future. To reset the e-brake spindle I went against your advice on this one thing and removed the actuator assembly. Removing the assembly allowed me to clean-up the housing and seating surface and more importantly it allowed me to relube the rubber o-ring seal. I would recommend this even though it's a little more work. The spindle should be rotated in a clock-wise direction until it stops, only then is it reset completely and allows the caliper piston to recess completely.

  • You can skip the tool and use a jump box or battery with 12v. pull off the connector to the e brake motor and apply 12 v + and - to the two wire terminals if you look into the motor connection. you will hear the motor run for 3 to 5 seconds, then remove the voltage and push the brake piston in with a clamp. If it doesn't go in reverse, the 12V wires sending + where you sent - and repeat for 3-5 seconds and then push the clamp in.

  • So far you did the jobs right except you forget to clean the wheel hub with wire brush before apply anti seize compound, and also forget to clean the inside of brake caliper and lub the dust shield with silicone spay to extend the life. Finally no brake grease apply to brake pads. It will make noise down on the road.

  • Hey man what’s the thing you’re doing with the clamp? I need to change my rear pads and I just cannot understand why you did that. Can you explain please? Thanks for the great video.

    @philh1245@philh12453 жыл бұрын
    • By clamp I assume you mean the piston. It has electronic parking brake motor built in to drive the piston so you can’t simply push it back. That will either destroy the gears in there or mess up the calibration. It could be disassembled by taking the attached motor off and manually twist parking brake motor to restore its position but I would not take the risk. So get a dedicated tool connect to OBD2 port and use the diagnostic command to send electronic parking brake motor to original position or service position would be the best way. Once E parking brake motor is in service position, you can now push the piston with your favorite clamp back to its cylinder.

    • @@luyichen11 because the new pad is thicker we have to compress the piston, okay got it man...you saved me a lot of money.

      @philh1245@philh12453 жыл бұрын
    • Yes. You are absolutely correct. New pads and rotors are thicker. Piston usually needs to be pushed back or twist&push back when replacing new rotor and pads.

    • @@luyichen11 Hi, can’t you just set the parking brake off, lift the car and replace the pads without using the OBD sytem? Probably you can just put the gear handle in the parking position (P) and thats it, isn’t it? Thank you for your help!

    @yihao4887@yihao48873 жыл бұрын
    • 谢谢支持。换完brake我没有rotate tire。我大概是3万英里出头换的,那时候前面刹车传感器已经磨断了。tire rotation和balance我一般是6000-10000英里做一次。这辆车前后轮胎宽度不同,好在轮胎不是directional,所以就是左右对调就可以。
