  • Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal are 2 dudes id want in my army if i was at war, their loyalty is something VERY rare in life itself, not just the NBA. Edit; it only took them 10+ years of losing each, to switch teams.

    • Don’t kid yourself bruh. The Bulls may end up having a great season, but as of today they have not done anything significant to prove that these signings willl directly correlate to more wins and a deep playoff run. You never know how 12 teammates (or even 5 starters) will gel until the games are played. Before last season Portland’s front office was almost universally praised for the “amazing off-season acquisitions” they made! Next thing you know, a key up and comer (Z. Collins) goes down with a season ending injury, then second year player Nassir Little misses time, followed by CJ missing 20+ games, followed by Nurkic missing another huge chunk of yet another season. Then Derrick Jones wasn’t able to figure out how to consistently contribute as a starter. Then came the realization that 2 of their main Bench players (Melo and Kanter) Were historically horrendous on defense making them almost unplayable together for large stretches of any game. So all of those amazing off season signings made to help Portland get over the hump failed to live up to the hype/expectations. Hopefully Chicago has better luck this year than what Portland had last year.

  • I definitely agree, that the Blazers Organisation has wasted several opportunities to really get the full potential out of the generational talent that is Damian Lillard. However, looking at the teams they fell to, I‘m seriously asking myself if the Blazers had made it to a single Finals if they had made better trades and managed the team better? After all, they ran into the 2014 Spurs, the 2015 to 2019 Warriors (3 times), and the LeBron-AD Lakers, some all time great teams, all of which would go on to become NBA champions. The loss to the AD-led Pels is really a missed opportunity. However, the other series weren’t even close. It‘s not like they were one or two smart trades away from beating a 73-9 Warriors team; that very team with KD added to them, the all time great Spurs, or even LeBron and AD. I still would love to see Dame on another team, that really gets the best out of him, and have him finally contend for a chip!

  • For real, Lilliard is one of the top ten players in the NBA today. Sad that he’s in a small market. They couldntt get him the talent to produce a championship. The best teams always had 3. The Spurs with Duncan, Parker and Ginobilli. The Lakers with Ac green, Kareem and Magic. The bulls with Jordan, Pippen and Rodman. You have to have talented players around you to win a ring. If the Blazers get on board with this ASAP, they’ll be good. If not, Lillard needs to find another fit if he wants to get a ring. Only difference is Dame has made it to the playoffs continually. At this point Dame's body is what's going to fail him and that's just sad for everything he's given to the Blazers. Them and Hornets are both in the second tier of my worst franchises list, this is why.

E.g., if Lillard were to suffer a career-ending injury, the Blazers would move on, and if Lillard ever wanted to move to another team in free agency, he'd be more than welcomed to do so.

  • It's pretty simple in the end they tried to make the Dame and CJ experiment work for far too long when it's clear it couldn't win when it mattered. That back court gives up too many points on defense as neither of them are that defensively minded and Stots didn't seem to care too much about that end of the court. So sadly it rarely mattered much if Dame went off for 50 on any night because they would give up half that on the other end just as easily. Sadly I think the time has passed for CJ to be the sort of attractive trade asset for a move that could really change things up for them. I'm not convinced that Chauncey is going to change much as head coach. He can preach about defense all they like but as long as Dame continues to show that he cares less about that end (somewhat understandably given the load he carries on offense) then it's going to be hard to get the rest of the team to buy in. Not that they have a bunch of elite defenders around him anyway. Nurkic doesn't help either a lack of defense at a position where you really need it and then he doesn't overwhelm on the other end to try make up for it. Worst of all Dame couldn't even just speak his mind this off season when given the opportunity. Preaching loyalty then getting caught out not living up to that and doing what everyone with a brain expected and half asking out. Then he just quietly backtracks on that too. So here we are, he gets what he deserves

    • @@xraider9091 They've done an abysmal job? I think not. The Pelicans did an abysmal job with AD. The Timberwolves have done an abysmal job with KAT. Portland has made the playoffs every single year Dame has been in Portland except for his rookie year. The highest draft pick they've had since he's been a Blazer was 10th, which they knocked out of the park by picking CJ McCollum. They've always had decent teams built around him. They've always been competitive in the ultra stacked Western Conference. If this team was in the East, there's a decent chance they'd have made the finals. It is INCREDIBLY hard for a franchise like Portland to build a super team, which is basically what is needed to win these days (especially in the West). I'd say Portland has done an admirable job of building a team with the minimal resources they've had at their disposal. But I wouldn't expect an idiotic casual to understand the difficulty and nuance that small market teams face in building a contending roster. You're the kind of fan whose contributed to the current state of the NBA where small market teams exist solely to develop talent for the Lakers, Clippers, Heat, Nets, and Rockets and to fill out the schedule. FOH

      @brutusvonmanhammer@brutusvonmanhammer2 жыл бұрын
  • Title of your video puts all the blame on Blazers front office, but things are never that black and white. Humble opinion: 1. Front office blame: Blazers are a small market team, they can't get big names (like Lakers or Heat) so if they want to stay competitive they need to overpay guys if they show any sign of productivity (like Crabbe, Turner, Lenard,...), and then they get in to the problems with salary cap (we see same things happen in Nuggets now, or Thunder couple of years ago,...). Almost all players (if they can) leave as soon as possible, for beaches and flashes of paparazzi and contracts with big name sponsors. They would probably change Stotts years ago (and McCollum too) but can't because Dame is good with them. 2. Coach blame. Stotts was always limited as a coach. His offensive schemes are out of date, and his defensive schemes are non existent. Blazers defense was waaaaay below average for most of the seasons, and barely average on a few seasons. And he didn't do anything to make his team a better team, they survived mostly of of talent of couple of guys. Not nearly good enough for some true results. And he was untouchable because Dame like him and wanted him there. 3. Players blame: The main duo (Lillard and McCollum) never did anything to put their team on another level and be competitive with other top teams in the West. They play their game as they want and the storyline is "my way or the highway", and others need to get with the program. They are pretty lazy (and undersized) on defense and have to many "solo act" minutes in every game. You can go through season with that kind of play (Rockets are the example) but when defense gets tight in the playoffs they fall easily. You can add bad luck to it all with injuries in last couple of years (or even go that far to remember Oden and Roy), but even if they were all healthy, the results probably wouldn't be any better. Just my humble opinion, of course. Good video as always, thanks for making it.

    • I partially agree with you but if Milwauckee won the championship, that means there are some possibilities for Portland to provide a better roster for Lilliard. Big club names are not as powerful as before. 7 years of failure, it's not normal. In europe, after 6 months fans call out the club owners straight up to fix problems. Great managers improve their teams no matter if the team is good or weak, look at Steve Kerr for example, he created one of the strongest bench in the league with players who were average else where. No excuses. Bring players to Lilliard or Beal or let them go.
