This is unironically the most fun I've had with Duolingo *ever*. This is such a good app, what the heck? How do we petition Duolingo to make the regular app like this one?
As usual, I am in no way affiliated with Duolingo! This is not sponsored and the Owl definitely isn't holding my family hostage or anything! 😃

We heard Duo's voice for perhaps the first time in our lives and no one is surprised.
I never thought he would sound like that
@@imbored457 he sounds like roger craig smith
I actually didn't realize that was his voice at first-- I was _shocked_!

I know that you were joking but duolingo rpg sounds like a seriously good idea. Like Prodigy for language.
Yes
Yes please, and all of the different regions are based after different languages. Also you should fight the enemies by filling out the flashcards.
Omg YES
I'm in a language-learning app development server we're still very early on, so i might actually propose this idea
Lingo Legend is kinda like "what if a story based strategy game taught you a language" idea and I really enjoy playing it, highly recommend
"Science is a language. Math is a language." A math as a language app would be awesome. That's literally the biggest hurdle to reading formulas.

NOO YOU ARE WRITING ALL THE SECR-
My mom is a preschool teacher, I believe they start with letters like M and L (letters with straight lines) because they're easier for kids to write than vowels like O and U.
Ohh, that makes a lot of sense! I can see how that would be easier for kids to learn!
also m is one of the first things small children can pronounce. normally its 'a' because you just have to open your mouth and then make noise and then the children will play around with different mouth a lip positions and 'm' is super easy because you just have to start with your lips together and then open your mouth. also why children say 'mama' and 'dada' as first words
That's interesting. In my class (I'm from Portugal, so maybe that's why), we learned the letters u and I first, because they look similar when you write them (we use cursive writing).
you might have already said this but afaik the reason the letter m is taught first is because usually m doesn't have any pronunciation variants. Like imagine teaching the letter h to a kid, theres voiced h, unvoiced h, ch, sh, gh, th, plus you have to teach when it's silent, m is just "m"
Whoa, that makes a lot of sense!
@@twinfettuccineYay
Not to mention that “th” covers two different sounds. One voiced and the other unvoiced. (🤪 English is fun!)
The first letter we learned in Kindergarten was c which might be the worst one to start with.

3:57 “Mmm, monkey” - Master Oogway from Kung Fu Panda I’m glad Duolingo is educating the youth on cultural memes, truly preparing them for the future
lowkey wish that they had different languages bc it would be kinda helpful for learning a fully new language
It would be helpful for kids that speak a language that doesn't use the basic Latin alphabet, so this app wouldn't just be for English speakers.
@@andrewpinedo1883 Yeah, but Duolingo kinda does that already. At least with languages whose script is somewhat difficult, but seemingly doable, unicode & finite (unlike Mandarin & Klingon for example) there is usually an extra section to practice them. Though I personally hate how they handled it for Korean as you learn basically nothing by just trying to just write it as an approximation to English (meaning w/o diacritics) & mostly the easy self-explanatory syllables. I'm much more convinced with Yiddish as that's basically Hebrewfied medieval German.
@@whohan779 Japanese does the kana section pretty well imo!
I agree that the children's level stories would be great for other languages' basics
@@ursamajo.r I'd agree with that, but the rest of the course was rather awful when I last checked it in 2022. Don't get me wrong: it wasn't just hard, too basic or too short (that title would go to something like Finnish), but it seemed incoherent and taught stuff that was in no real relation (first lesson was food I think).
I'm amazed by the revelation that most of the Duolingo characters, including Duo himself, were childhood friends.
no son amigos, son androides actuando
@@True_NOON Si, yo sabe que Duo no es real. Pero, en la historia, estuvieron niños, y están adultos en el original.
another amazing duolingo video twin!! the production for this app is pretty good! I hope Bea’s doing alright after her father was murdered in the woods by cocaine bear😢
I don't think Duo should have given Bea false hope for her father's life. It'll only hurt more when she realizes she was orphaned by Cocaine Bear 😞
R.I.P. Lester, gone too soon 🕊️🪦🐻
Am I a little silly for thinking about GENUINELY getting this app to learn spanish as an english speaker instead of normal duolingo? Normal duolingo is nice and all, I have a good streak on it, but this seems more fun and joyous and whimsical
so true!! I feel like I would absorb the information better with this style of app, too.
I like how she said she’s illiterate but she read all that
the illiterate community does not claim her
why is no one talking about this hdkahsk omg so funny
I was WAITING for a speedrun on this app, and from twin fettucine? What a blessing
That was really cool. Seriously, I think all learning should be fun instead of just a nightmarish slog. I think kids would learn much better and enjoy learning if learning was actually, you know, enjoyable. i’m glad they’re coming out with more fun educational stuff.
I never expected the letter m to make me laugh as hard as it did here, great video

5:03 im a childcare worker/teacher and i will say that i see what you mean by kids learning vowels first but also u gotta remember that we dont *only* speak in vowels and u gotta learn some basic things before going into vowels and common letters being used repeatedly is a good way to do it! this app looks cute.
Ohhh, that's good to know!
Duolingo stories aren't gone!!!! I think if you go to the practice hub (the dumbbell icon?) they're still there!!! (although i am a beta tester so it may be different for you)
Do you know if I have to unlock them or something? 😳 The dumbbell says: "Read your first story! Stores will appear here as you complete them." Lol I would try to Google it, but there's literally no information anywhere about this 😭
@@twinfettuccineAs you progress enough units you will eventually see stories, it’s built into the learning path and not in a separate tab. hope this helps! ( ◠‿◠ )

i miss fun content like this ur voice is so nice! subbed + i love the wholesomeness of this vid lol
Aw thank you so much!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
I think they are starting with M(B, P) is because it is the first sound that a baby can make (except AAAAAA). They only need to attach and detach their lips, which is definitely easy. That's why most languages have M and P sounds for parent's nicknames.
Why is no one mentioning the montruous way the capital M was written at 4:53? Why 1 line up to down and then the rest of the letter? Just start at the bottom and follow the line!
that's literally how everyone writes an uppercase M
wait that’s making me angry
I’m glad you had fun with this one! It looks cool and is designed well.
I like how the characters in the stories here are the younger version of the characters in original duolingi

Duolingo devs after hearing “Duolingo RPG”: **WRITE THAT DOWN, WRITE THAT DOWN!!11!1!!!1**
I'm pretty sure the reason they use phonics instead of "vowels first" is because toddlers and kindergarteners have that "baby speech impediment" so some letters they can pronounce with more relative ease and other letters are harder to sound out
