  • We LOVE Time Team, esp. the original decades -- wish it could have gone on forever as it was, but I'm glad that it's still with us, despite the loss of very much loved archaeologists -- so happy to get to see Helen Geake and Stewart Ainsworth, John Gater, Carenza Lewis and Matt, and other veterans of the first wonderful T T series. I am also happy to see new, updated technology, which surely must make life easier for all! Everyone worked very hard on that series. I hope they're pleased to know that they've been watched, and greatly enjoyed, by people around the world, Bravo to you all!

  • This one moved me at the end. I'm not from the UK and I came to these through KZhead but I have fallen in love with the whole team. This show really has been one of the best "reality" programs ever, imo. The reason is that, from what I can see, the whole team makes a genuine effort to show the real process. The thought, study, expertise and care that archaeologists practice in their daily jobs. It's kind of moving when I think about it. An honest picture of the lives of the peoples who lived there starts to emerge by the end. The whole team should take great pride in making exciting and genuinely educational content.

    • I have always loved how this show gave us real people doing their jobs. Various experts coming together with a common goal and any "drama" was usually by way of nature, context of the finds and professional discourse and the occasional struggle to reach consensus. American television could not handle this format...

  • In regards to the difficulty of relocating the original excavation - I did archaeology in central California for almost 20 years, and it was our standard practice to put in some readily identifiable and relocatable “artifacts” before re-filling the excavation, for example, an aluminum soft-drink can at each corner of a unit. This would make it easier to determine later where our units had been, if we dug at the site later, and alert future archaeologists to the fact that this area had been previously disturbed.

  • Really enjoyed this. One of the pleasures is seeing the young archaeologists from the original series who are now the seasoned pros with decades of experience to draw on as they interpret new finds. The camaraderie of the original TT was always a draw and this has that same feeling.

  • Oh my god - so good to see Paul again!!! Please bring him back always. - So cool to focus on a previous find by Helen for a modern episode. Great subject matter. It's too bad Time Team doesn't have the money to bring in top-fill that would give a buffer depth of soil to protect the rest of the area for future plowing. Certainly there are plenty of other areas in Britain with loads of good topsoil that could be brought over. it would broth preserve for future digs, and probably give the farmer better yields.

  • With the holidays fast upon us I took a moment remembering of Christmas past. The importance of family and friends, and how time team has brought us together. A time when families would place a Victorian tree as the centrepiece in the middle of the room, carefully decorating it with small bags containing everything from popcorn balls to chocolates and candy fruits, etc. On Christmas Eve, we would gather with family and friends, and during the festivities, you would wear a blindfold, circle the tree, and pick your treats. Along with some gag gifts, nothing too bad, but someone always got a bag of coal-a couple of BBQ briquettes wrapped up. Which usually means you had to do the dishes afterwards. These are fun times filled with laughter as a way of bringing people together before the celebrations of Christmas. Have a wonderful Merry Christmas and Happy New year everyone.

  • So the lady was a healer using herbal treatments in a steam/smoke room. She would have trained in Francia and come to Winfarthing to take over from some previous healer. How did she come to have such a fabulous pendant ? She must have saved the life of a King. As a result, she was so revered that the pendant was not stolen after her burial. Other graves are of those who came to be cured but were not. It is fitting she would be away from the dead patients but still close by. The stream must have been bigger to support the demands of patients and the herbal garden so perhaps the landscape has been modified since. It is possible the stream was deeper and digging in the stream bed may be productive..

  • So much to take in. Will have to watch it again. Although I miss Phil, this Time Team is amazing. Thank you all so much from Aotearoa/New Zealand.

  • Just found this channel and I’m over the moon!! I used to love the old series and I can’t wait to watch all the new episodes and some of the old ones too. It’s good to see some of the original team members here too, especially Helen.

  • As time and funds allow, going back to revisit some older TT digs like this with the newer technology and information available is great! Plus please have Sam on every Anglo Saxon dig! His song reminded me of when I had to memorize and perform the first 14 lines of Chaucer's Canterbury Tales in front of my 10th grade english class in 1983. HAH!

  • I love that there's a little copy of Mick in one of his sweaters there at the HQ

  • I have been such a fan of the original Time Team series... it plays in the background while I clean the house and work on my Phil Harding impression (I use it while digging in the dirt with my son). I love this new format where we get so much more from each day of the dig!
