Some 1/2 inch drive crows foot wrenches will be your best friend working on skid loaders.

Good luck! I hate working on skid steers and mini excavators. Everything is stacked or buried where you can't get to it without tearing the whole machine apart.

For about $40 bucks you can buy a Bluetooth endoscope. Small pencil size video camera that you can wireless to your phone. You can poke it in to tiny holes and around corners to see what’s going on. Handy little thing. Might need crows foot wrench to get some of them hydraulic fittings. Good luck!

I just did one of these hydraulic repairs on my friend's deere 328, It involved removing all the lines and using electrolysis to remove the rust. On my old Bobs I will remove the engine and hydraulics and replace any old lines with new lines I make myself. Then again I can make up any hose I want with my own crimper. The lines in your machine must have poor quality steel because I normWhen I work on skid steers I just remove all the lines above what I need to replace. ally only see this damage in a 20 year plus machine. You can braze over pinhole rust on hydraulic lines. The more you take out the easier the repair will be.

I have a Case SR 200 skid steer and had the same problem though i got the hose doctor out to the farm and installed with hydraulic hose in the area where it rusted out - it should not be a problem now when it gets caked in dust and mud..

Absolutely paper shop manual is the way to go. So much easier. I have that same philosophy with repairs. I will give it a try and can always call the professionals in after.

You need a set of crows foot line wrenches and closed end crows foot wrenches. When getting hoses, make sure the one hose is 3000 psi rated or above.

Hi Donnie, On your SV280 skid steer, is the oil filter the way to drain your oil on your machine? You should make a video since this video was very good. Great job!!

No I don't think the oil filter drains the engine oil, but good question.

Living in Minnesota we have a huge salt problem. Anytime is snows the state uses pretreat and lots of salt. Could that machine have been used by a snowplow contractor at one time? Maybe a rental from new?

Doesn't look bad enough to have been in salt. Other than these 2 lines, very little rust that I can see.

Can you use a cut wheel and create additional access holes. I've had to do that before.

That was an option but did not have to do that with this job.

Get a product called por-15. Use this and paint the lines before you install them. I have done this on loaders that are in higher mud/ slop all of the time. I have done it on oil pans and tubeless and oil coolers with great success. Just Fyi..

A vast majority of things with an engine in them are not designed in a way to simplify service and repairs. Years ago I delivered for Napa and once in a while a shop would request that I deliver parts that they ordered. I’d arrive and since I had long skinny arms and hands the mechanic would ask if I could reach down between the engine and frame and retrieve that wrench which I did a few times. Thankfully none of them was with a hot engine I could burn myself on.

Funny you say that - when I opened up the cover on this machine, the first thing I found was a 17mm wrench that the previous owner had lost I assume. Guess you were not delivering parts to him when he dropped it lol

Unfortunately machines break down almost every time you use them it seems when ever the temp is below 40 degrees ! If you can’t fix them your self you better have a wheelbarrow full of 100 dollar bills !

i have a 1994 L785 New holland...never let me down..never did not start easy to fix no computers had only three hoses changed 6800 hours sat out in weather 90% of its life ..I sold my new POS bobcat and kept old New Holland. Will keep it forever. Salt is a killer of all machines.

u know its junk when the dealer is telling u to change all the lines at 6 yrs.i pulled an engine out of a bobcat in 4 hrs.your dealer thinks u r a cash cow
