"A Hidden Continent in Harriman State Park" was a talk given by geologist Dr. Alexander Gates of Rutgers University at the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference headquarters in Mahwah, NJ in April 2024.
Dr. Gates explores the geological wonders of the Hudson Highlands, journeying through time and delving into the history of the region's mountains, once home to the highest mountains in the world and the ancient continent of Rodinia. Dr. Gates discusses how volcanic deposits, ancient collisions, and major fault lines have shaped the landscape and history we see today.
