MMA fighter Jorge Masvidal opened up about his relationship with his imprisoned father and shared insights into his experiences growing up. When Masvidal was only 4 years old, his father was sentenced to 18 years in prison for dealing cocaine. His mother sent him to Peru to live for a few years during this time. Masvidal commented on his father's past, stating that his drug dealing was how he "made ends meet" during a tough time in American history marked by strict drug enforcement laws. He also discussed his scorn for those who romanticize communism, drawing on experiences from both his father's escape from Cuba and his mother's Peruvian heritage. Masvidal is set to face Nate Diaz in an upcoming boxing match on June 1st.
