    • AWESOME- Like you guys, I have a trip to a rarely traveled location with lots of data and little detail outside of gov reports for bulls in 2 weeks! Any detail on planning and what worked best is highly appreciated!

  • This is everything. The reason bull trout, and all native and wild fish are so thrilling to chase after doesn’t really have anything to do with the things you think it will (big fish, aggressive fish, plentiful fish etc etc) it’s thrilling because they are wild and free, and in your own pursuit of them you have no choice but to become wild and free yourself. Hope you get to do a lot of more of this kind of thing in your lives. It’s what being alive is all about.

    • You guys nailed it. Thanks for everything you do to help educate people on our native fish! Can't wait to link up again soon.

    • videos like this are harmful to the few remaining wild places no cap. you are egotistical fish pimps, and your actions do not align with the your claimed values.

      @bike4fish241@bike4fish2412 жыл бұрын
    • @@bike4fish241 I think the truth is that ALL anglers (and I'm assuming that your screen name indicates that you're an angler) are harmful to fisheries, period. The impact of recreational fishing, catch and release or otherwise, can't be over stated. If you think that your personal exploitation of wild resources excludes you from that conversation simply because you don't have a youtube channel then you're deluding yourself. For better or worse (and we're all trying to figure out the answer to that question) anglers have become a leading voice in the conservation of cold water species, particularly salmonids. Videos that excite and educate people, anglers or otherwise, on the value of native species and wild ecosystems are essential to the survival of these species. Cuz guess what, theres a lot of serious issues affecting the long term survival of these creatures, and "fish pimps" are a relatively small piece of that puzzle. Climate and habitat issues will come for our wild places at a slow and relentless pace, whether they're kept "secret" or not, so when that day comes you better hope there's a bunch of dudes with fly rods holding the line. Someones gotta do it. All that said, you're right to raise concerns. These are conversations we all need to be having, especially when it comes to threatened species. Will consumptive users of our natural resources be the ones to ultimately save them? Or will we just be standing there, torturing the last wild fish at the end of a line as the world burns around us? The future isn't set in stone, but it's certainly something thats on my mind daily.

    • @@TightLoops i appreciate your well worded reply. as for you assumitions about me, i have a LONG history in actual habitat restoration for wild fisheries, working with non profits and the US government. I was an avid fly fisherman for many years, and I have quitely fished most of the fisheries in the northwest USA. but, eventually I came to the realization that I was concerned enough with the CURRENT health of our wild fisheries that I have personally given up my PASSION of catching wild fish in wild places. As a former north Idaho resident, who has been active in local TU as well as with IDFAG, i can say without a doubt the rules "protecting" bull trout in idaho are a complete joke, as is there managment of wild steelhead. its 100 percent ok to go to the headwaters of nearly ANY river in the region in september, find schools of bull trout stuck in low water, and throw barbed and baited trebble hooks at them ALL DAY LONG, taking every fish out of the water for pictures. 100 percent legal.... ponder that. Carp fishing is pretty dope though. Muskies and pike too. they should make some videos that highlight ethical fisheries. As far as my name, i organized a annual cycling event along a local river to raise funds to go directly towards habitat restoration efforts on that river. PS that fish is in spawning colors, and is still SLIGHTLY prespawn but probably alrdy in the pool it plans to spawn in. spawn is early sep-early novemeber, with an outmigration when the early winter rains raise the water level.

Also, love the science and history behind this, because really that’s a lot of what fly fishing is about, science and knowledge that gets you on the fish and makes you appreciate them even more. Love this channel!

  • What you guys could have done with a bunch of spinners and a carton of night-crawlers......You need to have a cook along.....I volunteer. My dad taught me to trout fish on the Madison. We would go every year late August.....Our last trip was in 2015....with my two boys....and I noticed dad was exhibiting signs of memory issues. Today, I said goodbye to him, he is in hospice and most likely won't last the night.....I know he is on his way to fish waist deep at the back end of long mossbanks for big fall run browns....thanks Dad for instilling in me a love of the natural world, how to fish and hunt, and respect nature. I will miss you.
