For an update 🐝🐝🐝 Did that Swarm Decide to Stay and What to do with All These SWARM Cells? kzhead.info/sun/msekfLuNpXemeIk/bejne.html
Your husband is the lucky guy ever
you should try a wire mesh basket for catching swarms. The bees seem to love them.
Hello Kaylee, You did a wonderful job on your swarm capture! There are a couple of things that you might want to consider going forward. prepare a peppermint 50/50 spray. Mist some of this over the receiving box, nuc or hive brood frames. Before you take your bucket up to the swarm, mist the inside of the bucket with your spray. You might want to consider putting a couple of cups of water in the bottom of your retriever bucket. Once you have shaken the swarm into the bucket, bring it on down next to your receiving box and then mist the bees with your 50/50. Dump the bees out of your bucket into the box and PUT THE LID ON! Repeat the process! You did something that most beekeepers don't do. You positioned your nuc, back to the trees and set it on top of the ladder. Good deal! To have helped the bees find the entrance you might have given them a ramp or block to direct toward the entrance. Another way to encourage the bee swarm capture would be to utilize drawn comb frames. Again you might mist the frames with 50/50. Just simply slide your frames in the bucket and take the bucket to the bees. There are times when you will not be able to jostle the bees and this may be your only logistical alternative. ALL and all you were wonderful! Did you have a queen cage ready just in case you found the queen? I'm pretty sure you got the queen! There were a lot of bees "throwing a scent"! Thank you for the video! It not only was entertaining but a great help to beekeepers who have never experienced a swarm. I hope you get many more.
I love watching your videos especially when you're catching swarms. Interesting and cute for sure 😊
Always enjoy the sounds of your farm🦃🦃🐓🐓in the background. The sound of your ladies and the Swarm is so cool. I wore my Honeystead shirt to work this morning. You are so cool...keep those Bee Vibes coming.🐝🐝🐝🐝
I was watching your video this morning and decided to take a break an check on a hive that has been in an outside building and found a swarm about a foot off the ground . I have a hive I bought to bought last year so I took it out and started moving the bees into it and it looks like they love it .
That is awesome!
I love seeing a swarm in the air.... as long as they land low enough to easily catch them.
Lol agreed!!!
ahlal
most beautiful beekeeper in the world😍😍
Wow listen to them!! You can definitely hear the change in tone! Love watching this How is your mom and grandma? We haven’t seen them in a while!!!!
They are well! Just been busy! We will have exciting news to share soon!
Yay I can’t wait!! Love your family and your videos!
Love watching you catch a swarm!
That was an interesting closeup view! Thank you for sharing.
Though this video is about Honey Bees, it's the most recent of your videos. I'm into the 22nd year if Lyme Disease. It's gone into joints and muscles, I occasionally have the all over pain attacks. I've heard that Teasel heals this. What would y'all suggest to help me and do you have it in stock and if course I need to know prices. So many doctors say; " you're getting older and you'll just have to live with it". I say Bull! Poppycock! I may be a widow of 17yrs. but I've things to do and want to live while I'm alive, I've grandchildren and great-grands that hardly know me, and that's not right, these should be my best years, and I know they can be, and I'll never give up hope it stop praying for a miracle. Thank you so much for sharing the videos, and for giving me a better knowledge of healing in plants, that I actually have found many of in my yard. There's many plants I want to get started growing, if I can find them. Thanks again and God Bless.....
Teasel is a great on for Lymes. There is a book called unlocking lymes that is really good
I had Lymes disease last year used Teasel and was better within days. No signs and symptoms since. I use Teasel occasionally still for other pain. Seriously check into it. God bless…
Please check out Medical Medium for Lyme disease. Good luck!
I'm lucky. This year, all but one swarm ended up just 1-3 feet off the ground. Good news for my old knees!
Veri good sis 👍👍👍
❤❤❤❤❤❤
❤ Swarm season w/Mrs. Honeystead ❤ Get 'em all Mam.
How's your mom doing? We haven't seen her recently in your videos. Hope she's doing well :)
They are well!!! I hope to share updates in the future!
Just saw Mr. Ed use a wire waste can to get the bees. He said the bees don’t leave the wire bucket at all. Just an FYI. Jeff Horchoff Bees
I have a small wire trash can. I bet it would help to have some old comb in it , many the queen would go right in .
Awesome job on getting that swarm ! You go Girl !!🐝😊👍💕
They are fanning, time to take a break and let the girls do their best. Letting nature do the job will take some time, but is the best way.
Where has your mom been? Didn’t she used to help you on collecting the bee swarm?? she’s OK. I enjoy watching you and your mom doing things together. I thought it was so awesome.
Me too! I was just thinking the same thing🤍
I love seeing her mom too, she's so bubbly but she is probably taking care of grandma. It's a full time job by itself sometimes.
I feel the older we get the more complacent we get.exercise is a must throughout our lifespan.
Hello from New Zealand Nice Mcivoring and capture. Love your bee vids & calm demeanour. Lucky husband getting you hot & sweaty on a date night 😂
wow! that is so fascinating!!
Bien fait
Nice catch. I’ve caught a few swarms this way. Not my preferred method, but when they are high enough that I can’t reach them otherwise, it is my go to.
I always envision a giant funnel shaped catch sheet made of something slippery like parachute material that you could spread under the swarm and the bees would just fall right into your chosen receptacle when you give the branch a good shake. 😉 easy peasy 🐝🐝🐝🤣
It’s been too cold to work out a lot.. he’s made some splits.. on the good days, still have couple of hives to get into , but cold wet n yucky here. Love watching.. .❤😊
Hi from Texas. Have you ever tried banging on a pan to get them to come down when they are still flying ?😊
Me too
Great job!!! Hope you had fun on your date night!!!
Hi Kaylee, I’m on my husband’s KZhead; I will have to try that bucket trick. It never fails my girls always seem to go to the top of my trees.
You can just attach an old frame of comb to the pole and stick it up to the swarm. They will climb right onto the frame. Repeat until you get the queen on the frame then the rest will follow. Just a thought! It would be a really cool video if you could attach a camera to the pole near the bucket! LOL
Agreed
Yes! Great idea!
Kaylee 🥰swarms might be your favorite part of the season. 😂 Do you have an old fashion time for dinner triangle?
Oh I wish!! Lol
Broodframe in the bucket works wonders
WHERE DId you buy that swarm box somewhere? seems to fit frames perfectly.
I am loving your videos. I am looking into getting a small set up of Bees very soon. I’m so excited. And tips for a mosquito spray? Which herbs Can I mix into a spray and how would I do it?
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! We live in Lynchburg, Virginia and just harvested our first honey of the spring. It is very VERY light and oh soooo good and sweet! Do you think it is Acacia honey?
Interesting
Were the bees fanny their pheromones from the box? If so it might indicate the presence of the queen.
Although, this is non-bee related, I’d really like to know if freeze dried herbs can be used to make salves or ointment please?
❤❤
I`ve had two swarms this spring both not more than four feet off the ground.
Lucky lol
If you don't get the queen, will the collected bees integrate with a different gueen?
Lucky husband.
Was this a swarm from your hives?
Xin chào, bạn thật xinh đẹp
Good afternoon friend! You didn't greet , no greeting at the start of your head , haha! Where else are they're going to seat , your hair! Honestly your acting in this is like a 12 years old 😊! Bucket on a Long stick was great ❤! Cool video, was very fun to watch, secure your bucket ! 😊
Could you have put an empty bee box below them ?
You could try, but I find it works better to get them if I can!
Tanging just gives the bee keeper something to do while the bees are airborne. Makes you look cool doing something mysterious, instead of running around like a dummy.
Maybe next time play a thunderstorm sound through your phone.
You see me blasting it on the speakers lol 🔊
Sorry honey, I'm gonna hang with the girl's tonight!!! Maybe next time.😂😂😂
Lol that thought did come across my mind 😬
bees are alright it's their cousin the ants who are jerks
do you sell bees
Sweaty women make the best dates : )
Your bees are so bad. Look at my bees
А ты красивая❤❤❤❤❤
the high up ones where you have to bucket shake them in are always a pain in the butt.. seems like every time they like to play the game of shaking, then dumping, then flying back into the tree, repeat like 6 times.. ugg. also helps to after bouncing them and if they start flying back, give them a few minutes to collect back on the tree, that way you arent shaking them 20 bees at a time lol
