You feel him leave, hear the splash of him hitting the water but when you go to flush there's nothing there? & no trace? I would like to see a documentary on this! Another difficult subject to research is how the Russian Submariners used to dress up. Half the crew as Norwegian fishermen & half as fish. Cod, halibut, haddock, dogfish etc, hallelujah & the "fish" had little patches over their boy pussies so the fishermen could stick their "fishing rods" at the rear bottom, not the front bottom, & when they were "caught" they had to put their arms by their side & lie on deck & jerk around opening & closing their mouths when their crew mates decided who got to "torpedoe" them 1st!

    • It was unrestricted warfare at sea. This led to them also attacking some big "Floaters"! One big Scandavanian guy apparently had a 14" diameter rear hole back passage & many of his movements were subsequently tracked & torpedoed! He was classed as a hazard to shipping & was required to inform the authorities every time he had to go & was classed as a potential enemy of the state! Enemy submarines used to disguise themselves as his movements to slip past coastal defences & were nicknamed "phantoms". One submarine had a running battle with one of the genuine movements for 3 days & eventually had to retreat, the movement returned to port a week later for a refit & to have a deck gun fitted. I think it was mounted on the Poop Deck.

  • Brilliant video. The fact that the subs existed forced the Germans to devote resources to counter them. There just weren't the kind of targets around like in the Pacific or Atlantic for them to attack until late in the war. K21 was a big clumsy boat so taking her in to attack a heavily defended ship like Tirpitz was very brave not once but twice! If she had been detected I would not rate her chances much. Its just a shame the torps didn't hit the bloody thing, it was the only aggressive action against the Tirpitz taken by any allied navy in the disaster that was PQ17

  • "To my mind, it would be an insult not only to me, but to the veterans who are no longer here with us, when someone who only read the numbers would say : ' come on how many ships did you sink, you say? You just sailed about at sea and thats it' . In war time huh? In the conditions of the North, a patrol by any submarine is already a heroic deed, because their crews always left the base with a one-way ticket, they never knew whether they would return or not. " Was I the only one laughing at this guy? Yes all your heroic submariners did was to sail around laying mines and bully converted fishing vessels. Even that K3 hit the ocean floor several times because they couldnt navigate properly and ended up surfacing, scoring a lucky hit in that boats depth charges to escape... What did the K 21 do? Let me sum it up for ya, It went out on a patrol, found Tirpitz + escorts and i guess at this point you would expect to actually do something to be praised like that right ? WRONG, she fired a couple of torpedoes on Tirpitz, completely missed and went back to base. No these guys are not heroes of the Soviet Union nor legends. They are just mediocre submariners at best. What would be considered an unsuccessful patrol in any other navy in this planet was turned into propaganda. Russia is just continuing this long tradition of trying to sell bullshit to uneducated people, just like the Soviets did. Sorry but this is not going to work.
