Was watching another video and yours popped up next. I've sewn for 68 yrs and not used this method. The comments section is correct, you are very thorough and concise with instructions which is much appreciated. I will pop over to see how Amy does it as well. You're never too old to learn new things. I subscribed and can't wait to see more.
Thank you Susan. Welcome to the channel!😀
I am so happy to see a very long time sewist like me commenting! I have been sewing for 67 years myself and always appreciate new tips. (Sometimes I write "really" or "that is not a typo" after the number, as people do wonder." My life would be completely different without sewing, and my daughters are the same way.
Me too! I’m 71, finally finding time and place to really sew and quilt after four kids lol
Thank you Christine . U are a good intructor. No unnecessary talking.every step clearly demonstrated and SHOWN.
Thank you so much Shahnaz😁
Thank you so much for crediting me. It truly means the world to me, you did an awesome job with it!
Of course Amy. You deserve it. It's a very clean technique😁
I've now made two of these and the zipper technique is the bomb! Love the finish!

@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thank you so much!
I'm so glad you like it, @@CherieEmmons !
I really like the two-sided tabs instead of the butler method and I prefer the top stitching so the lining doesn’t get caught in the zip. Thank you for showing us this method.
You're very welcome. I like the tabs too 😊
Totally agree about top stitching the lining. The lining WILL get caught in the zipper. Your work always looks so polished. Thank you for another great tutorial. Kay in Dallas, Texas
Yes, using double sided tape seem easy to work on zipper, what brand of tape do you use? Thanks for sharing😊
Me too! And it’s only because we’ve been shown that we can appreciate the differences. Thanks again for another great tutorial.
I am so impressed Christine that you are so careful to give credit to the creator of the method! Good for you! So many people today don't credit others. I really enjoy your videos. ~ Steph in Colton, NY ❤
Ditto from me Steph. Christine is a great teacher!

She deserves the credit Steph. She does a lot for the sewing community 😊
Great, great tutorial! I like the tab technique applied to both ends, the markings and your teaching style!
Thank you Rosa😊
Thanks for showing us this different method, but I think I like the lining stitched down and the tabs at the ends better. Thanks,
Me too Cynthia 😀
Thank you.. I’m so bad at zips but your method looks like something I can do!😊
You can do it Jules😀
Superior instructions; excellent finish.
Thank you very much Nancy😀

Just found your site. Best directions ever!
Thanks so much Merrilyn. Welcome to the channel😀
Excellent tutorial
Thanks Cindy ☺️
I watched. I learned. But I do not think I will use this technique with my bags. Nice to know the technique if I want to use it in garment making. You explained it well, I just like bilateral tabs and top stitching. I think it is a cleaner look as I box all my bags. Thank you very very very much for the great video. If I take up garment making I will be a step ahead.
I agree Susan. I like uniformity with my products, and topstitching through all layers😁
Fantastic instructions and I learned a few new tricks. Thank you very much for your video.
You're very welcome Irene. Thank you😁
I really like your explanations and step by step guiding. I watched the other ladies video too but I find your teaching easier to follow.
Thank you so much!😊
Thanks for this video. I would not have been aware of the Butler Method without it. It's a game changer for me.
Glad it was helpful! It's a nice tidy method😀
Fab tutorial, thank you
Thank you Wendy😀
What an awesome tutorial! Clear and understandable instructions, going to try today. Thank you
Good luck Susan. Hope it works well for you😀
Thanks so much for this easy to follow tutorial for a Butler method of inserting a zip. You are so easy to listen to - clear, concise and consistent with your teaching. I have been sewing for more than fifty years (and that's a lot of zips!), but I have not heard of the Butler method. Thanks so much!
You are so welcome Barbara. Thank you😁
That looks so good! I wasn't sure where it was going lol I love it
Thank you April😀
I use this method a LOT in my zipper bags! I mark the zipper and bag outer/inner at the start so I have that 3/4” stopping point ready to go. And I’ve started finishing the closed ends of my zips with your method! Thanks (from Tennessee USA) for you great tutorials!
Thanks for the tip Hope. I'm going to do a time trial using both methods. See which looks best, and is the quickest😁
What a nice bag! I just happened across your video and really appreciate how clear and concise the instruction was! I'm subscribing right now. 🙂
Thank you so much. Welcome to the channel 😀
That was a great technique . I agree to top stitch on both ! Take care
Thanks Diane. I agree too😀
Wow, I have ever seen the butler method done like this, I like it. I always include my lining in my top stitch if not it seems to get caught in zipper. Thank so much Christine
You are so welcome Angela. Thank you😁
That looks so professional! You do such a great job!!
Thank you so much Jean😊
A beautiful bag. I like your rounded zip technique also.
Thanks Susan😊
I absolutely love your tip about keeping the zipper tape long. That would've saved me so much frustration with my last project.
Glad it was helpful Lauren. Thank you😁
The Butler method is my choice when making bags with a top zipper closure. Excellent tutorial! 😊
Thank you Charlotte 😊
Well done! Thank you!
My pleasure. Thank you😁

Yep, I do love the top stitching😁

Thank you Mary. Welcome to the channel😁
Excellent technique and tutorial and very nice sewing. 👍
Thanks so much Susan 😊
Well done, I might try this, greatings from Istanbul
Thank you Canberk😁
I think the curved in ends looks nice, but I like both ends to "match", so I would prefer tabs on both ends. You do very nice work
Yes, I like things to match as well😀
I love the way you teach. Each step and each detail is explained perfectly. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.❤
you Valerie😁
Thank you, what a great way to install a zipper but I especially appreciate you technique on doing the tabs. I'm with you on top stitching the lining to keep it from getting in the zipper. Great tutorial, started following and looking forward to checking out your other videos.
Thanks Gina. Welcome to the channel😁
Hello from Ireland have come across your channel for first time and am really liking it your explanation is very well explained and easy to follow and in such detail thank you can't wait to see the rest of your tutorials 👌
Thanks Catherine. Welcome aboard😁
Thanks Christine. This method will be very useful as i make pouches using jute.
You're very welcome Rohini. Thank you😀
Thankyou so much, you have really improved my sewing journey with your tutorials. W How I struggled before I found you!!!
That's so wonderful Sharon. Thank you 😊
Thanks Christine for taking the time to show us this method. There is definitely learning in this video for me. I love the bag too, it's so neat and the fabric is really lovely. Thank you ❤
You are so welcome! Thank you 😊
I used your tab method today on two zipper pouches, and I find them to be a much better way to do tabs! Thank you for sharing your method.
That's so wonderful. Thank you 😊
You are an excellent instructor, and your directions are spot on. Thank you, I will definitely try this method, it is a very crisp option. I agree with you on the liner, I will likely top stitch the liner with the top when completing that step. Thank you again!!!!
Thank you so much Lainey😁
Certainly something different from the usual methods for inserting zips. Thank you for showing us Christine….so enjoy your videos!!
You are so welcome! Thank you 😊
Great tutorial! Wish I had known this technique years ago! I made a few family members zip close bags and this method with the curved end for the zip looks so nice! and what a clean finish!.
Thanks Robin. It's certainly been a popular method for zips😁
I learned something new, thanks I think I could actually use this method for alterations in som garments especially dresses. I think the way you do it is also very nice with the tabs. Thanks for showing us! ❤👍
You are so welcome Elayne ☺️
This is the best tutorial I've seen yet. I completely concur with your thoughts on the lining. I would worry that the lining would shift up into the zipper.
Thanks so much Rebecca. I always feel like I've left something undone when I don't sew the lining and main together😀
The tips to mark the 3/4" on the fabric and to leave the one side of zipper over the edge so the zipper head does not cause problems are most welcome. ( Zippers have gotten easier for me and now with your tips they will be easier still.) Also, the way you did the zipper tab makes so much sense and will avoid all the difficulty I've been having when I've tried to add side tabs.
That's fabulous Michael. Thank you 😊
I love the little yellow square you use to mark your 3/4” line. Where can I get one? Is this something that I can purchase from you?
@nicolegoller4220 it was a gift from one of my suppliers many years ago. I am looking into getting some template sets made up though 😃
What an informative tutorial that you did an excellent job of teaching. Your pace of speech and speed of sewing was "just right"! Thank you for sharing :D
You are so welcome Helena. Thank you😁
Thanks for this video. I prefer tabs on both ends of zipper and top stitching both sides. Happy Thanksgiving from Canada
Thanks Margaret. We don't have thanksgiving, but hope yours is fabulous ☺️
OMG, I LOVE THIS.....I made a little purse and wasn't happy with it so took it apart, watching your video will help me so much when i put it all back together. Thank you so much
Glad I could help Teresa. Thank you😁
Christine I am so happy I found your channel. I love this method of zipper but I will be topstitching the lining as well I am afraid it will get caught in the zip. also, I want to make the itty bitty bag. I tried to watch another video on making the Itty Bitty bag last night and two ladies were making it they said they made a couple changes from your pattern, I got so nervous watching them I had to stop watching their video. I thank you for your calm voice and easy way of teaching. Evelyn USA
Welcome to the channel Evelyn. I prefer topstitching both sides too😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I do like the way you do both ends of the zipper best. It is good to know both ways but I think the way you do the ends are the best. I was having problems with my internet yesterday and couldn't finish my comment. Thank you again for all you do. No one else does it as good as you
Brilliant! I tried this method today and it worked beautifully.
That's awesome Susan.😁
