    • I did some research on it. It comes from ancient Indo-European tradition. The Indo-Europeans believed that spirits resided in trees and that if you knocked on the wood of the tree, you gained the protection and good favor of the spirits in the tree. Somehow the tradition managed to survive for thousands of years and it overtime just became a superstition in cultures all across Iran, Pakistan, India, and Europe. This is where the English expression "knock on wood" comes from.

When you’re in the comfort of your home, with your husband, it’s humor between you. But, outside of my home I never make fun of an accent.
