While Labour celebrates an 'incredible' win in Blackpool South and gains Thurrock and Rushmoor, it's not all good news, as they suffer a shock defeat in Oldham.
Susanna asks National Campaign Coordinator Pat McFadden MP about whether international issues - Gaza, in particular - had an impact on Labour losing Oldham.

    • Yeah because the whole global financial downturn during and after covid had nooooooothing whatsoever to do with that.

    • Nothing to do with Brexit. Everything to do with incapable politicians, who are middle management at best, and now junior management under Labour. Blackpool was a hideous place long before Brexit was ever on the cards. Many coastal towns especially once thriving fishing ports are also left scarred from years of neglect and destruction of their industry courtesy of EU. Cons. had no intention of putting that right.

    • Before you start coming in your pants over a labour victory. Understand that the majority of the British public haven’t suddenly become dyed in the wool labour supporters . No it’s the fact that Labour can’t do any worse than the Tories. So we might as well give them a turn. Believe me if there was an actual viable alternative both parties would be out on their incompetent ears lol

  • Membership of the European union completely devostated seaside resorts like Blackpool who could not compete with cheap European holidays. Nowhere is the damage of EU membership more evident. I hope Labour are not seeking an underhand ploy to return us to the EU which would see continued decline and deprovation in our coastal resorts. 😢

  • It's only incredible because the turnout was so low.

    @yeahokno@yeahokno16 күн бұрын
    • 1997 there was a big drop in turnout from 1992 yet Labour polled two million more votes than 1992. The Tories LOST 5 million votes. Turnout is only a worry if it's your voters that are staying at home and the Tories are in existential trouble right now if these turnout trends continue.

    • @@pipoo1 Good explanation, it's just a shame there isn't an actual conservative party any more. Either way the party system is a sham and were being ruled from elsewhere.

  • Even though Sir Kier Starmer apparently blocked a prosecution of Jimmy Saville and is according to a Times journalist having an extra marital affair with Baroness Jenny Chapman Labour will DEFINITELY get my vote. We need change

    • The Jimmy Saville lie has been debunked as just that so many times yet still desperate Tory trolls cling onto it. Is that all the Tories have left to offer the UK outright lies and slander? Pathetic, the Tories don't have a future among, under 50s they are barely polling 10% of the vote, it's literally a party dying slowly in front of us.
