The Killers - Getting Personal (And a Little Awkward) with The Killers
Getting Personal (And a Little Awkward) with The Killers (Vevo)
Vevo’s Kim Taylor Bennett connected with The Killers a decade and a half ago in the UK - but as our new interview with the band reminds, each side remembers the meeting a bit differently. No prob: this new in-depth chat with singer Brandon Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vannucci straightens out everything you need to know about the band and their new album, ‘Wonderful Wonderful.’ The Vegas outfit have been one of the alt-rock’s most reliable bands since they dropped the classic ‘Hot Fuss’ on the world in 2004. That kicked off a string of massive videos that run from “Mr. Brightside” and “Somebody Told Me” to “Miss Atomic Bomb” and “The Man.” This time ‘round Bennett gets Flowers to talk about the latter track, which he says was inspired by his own life when he was in his early 20s. Also on the docket: how the lyrical doors open when the songs turn introspective, articulating emotions by writing songs, being prodded creatively by the Strokes, other members of the band deciding to abandon the road, and lessons learned by watching Mike Tyson.

she's a really good interviewer. the killers aren't an easy interview and she got a lot out of them.
A Gill because she’s not awkward
I think they run in the related circles, so knowing each other probably helps
@@jjvexist you're right! Most of the girls who tried to interview them were so creepy and fangirling all over them
They trust her
I also feel that she is really well prepared for interview. Sometimes I wonder if interviewers even know with whom they talk to (it's general speaking, not only The Killers interview)
*in a nerdy voice*"wanna see my rock recolection?" nobody appreciated how hilarious that was
diowk right?! I’m gonna be chuckling about this all day! Lol. Rock recollection.
I know! And that was amazing!
I did!!!!!
I'm not native and my English is not perfect so I didn't get the joke... 😔 could you please explain it, please?☺
@@alicja1233 I think the joke was about a nerd wanting to show his "rock collection", dolomites and shit like that, what's your first language?
“A lot of people write songs because they’re not good at speaking.”
I loved that too. Wrote it down.
Yes, I just write because I'm not the best at articulating things when speaking!
Omg Depeche Mode, love them! I love how the more I watch from the killers, the more I realize, these are my people!
"This fucking interview is over!" 😂😂😂
Best awkward interview I've seen
We all know that Brandon Flowers will never be taken down.
Cuz he's the Man
Watch him vs Richard Dawkins and you'll learn otherwise
pars4245 I saw that and it's evident Richard doesn't know the real history of The Book of Mormon and made false statements about it. Those who know, saw right through Richard.
@@pars4245 You could clearly tell Richard Dawkins didn't want any part of an actual full blown debate. p.s. Google ''Book of Abraham pt 1 (Why Egyptologists are wrong) youtube''. EGYPTOLOGISTS and ANTI-MORMON duplicates DEBUNKED, debunked by demonstrating that Joseph Smith's translation/revelation of the Book of Abraham papyri was never supposed to match up with the translation from that of the Egyptological field to begin with.
@@richardholmes7199 I'll pass. Half-baked, sloppily researched vids that cherry-pick facts to further an agenda aren't my style.
I how cute they are. I mean Brandon and Ronnie are just naturally awkward and it just works so well in all of these interviews 😂😂😂😂
There's a video about Brandon and Ronnie being socially awkard and I can't see this interview the same I used to.😂😂😂
Ronnie looks like ryan reynolds in an alternate universe
@@tangofoxtrot40 i somehow cannot unsee it!!!!!!
“We just basically listen to the strokes all the time” 🔥🔥🔥
without “all the time”
And they released an album in the same year. I love them both
Last nite
This is one of my favorite interviews them because they seem so relaxed and are given room to complete their thoughts.
Oh God. He is soooooooo handsome!. I'm falling.
Lisa Simpson you should see me.
Lisa Simpson yes he's gorgeous!!
Lisa Simpson Can people like ... maybe focus on the content and not just the looks ? It's sad . I've been a fan for over 10 years and people still just focus on his looks like we all know he's handsome just chill
emkato21 did you liked your own comment?. Lol. You need to chill. What is your problem if I think he is handsome?. I like their music too stupid.
Lisa Simpson ahhhhh yes
It's nice to hear that Brandon also has a special attachment to Sam's Town. One of the most important records of my life.
David Hlavac i literally live in basically sams town so mood. and by that i mean ffa cow town where most people can milk a cow and own cowboy boots
I laughed so much at that last line.
Ronnie V. has a great sense of humor (and perfect timing) as a drummer should
I know Brandon gets all the attention but good god Ronnie is so adorable
Ah and they both rely on one another, the killers are not one person but a team volley keeping the spirit in the air :)
I'm convinced Ronnie and Krist Novaselic are long lost siblings
Paul Rodriguez just realised that LMAO WTF
oh shit ur right
You forgot Jason Lee, they're actually triplets!!!
*novoselic
OH SHIIIIIIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First second of interview "You were almost silent"... Looks over "Yeah" 😂 lmfao
Jose Gomez brandon: "yeah. That's basically how this gonna go" 🤔
It's weird seeing Brandon now cause he looks like a guy who just came out of puberty stage and won it. He looks young than how we looked in 2004!
Brandon goes “woah” as Ronnie drops the f-bomb.
The Killers have been my favorite band since the first time I heard "Somebody Told Me" on the radio in England in 2004. It's been nice to see the band through the years as they mature and try new things. And I would never have guessed Ronnie was funny!
Brandon's smile is so gorgeous. I'm just obsessed
"Alot of people write songs cause there not great at speaking" love that quote
I have to say Kim Taylor Bennett is a really great interviewer. I like that she doesn't care that there "rock stars". Reminds me of those late night good interviews you would get from back in the day on MTV.
Seriously, I'm a fan of Kim Taylor Bennett's interview skills. She's fantastic.
What was it that was so bad about the last interview?
Kieron Smith that’s what I wanna know! Lol
the killers will always have a special place in my heart. this interview was really good omg HAHAHA i couldnt stop laughing :')
Ronnie: "there's still good distance between you two" 😆
I have always loved Brandon Flowers, and now I learn his wife has complex PTSD? :O As a long time fan and a woman with cPTSD, I'm so moved and my mind is blown thinking back over the Wonderful Wonderful album. Thank you Brandon 💓
Wasn't that awesome?
I’ve been a fan since 6th Grade, (10-12 years) & that album saved me -I have GAD. It’s truly amazing how music can connect people ☺️
Why does/did she have PTSD?
Это как?по русски...это сука депрессия.. Бренн тебе почаще быть...ДОМА!!!
I love how awkward Brandon is, with his troubled speaking 🤗❤️
Read My Mind has always been my favorite too!
Gabrielle Fister same!
I see you two share the same taste as me! Definitely their best in my humble opinion
Gabrielle Fister yeah i realy think thats my favorite because of how it is so much like pet shop boys
Same!!
Such bout change your mind.
Brandon & Ronnie are the absolute best ❤
9:56 & 10:01 Brandon's face. I'm sure he wanted to mention to the interviewer that WYWY isn't the closing song anymore 😂
What is the new one
@@zacclimpson8796 Mr Brightside
"Read my Mind" is easily my favorite song, without question. When I hear it I'm instantly taken back to the time it came out, it sparks nostalgia regardless. It's like Don Henley's "The Boys of Summer"... it just has that instant nostalgia!
Great interview! So much love for this band. I'm surprised Brandon talked about his wife's ptsd but I'm so glad he did. Happens to the best of us. Wish I had gone to therapy sooner. It's made a huge difference in my marriage.
Man i miss The Killers! Have been a fan since 2012 and i really miss every album feeling i got, i still remember every single lyric! You go killers! Brandons voice will be forever my favorite choice for a life soundtrack! And i also enjoy the solo projects the band members make, Flamingo and Big talk are amazing, i have tried Marks solo project but it was a diferent style than i'm used too but hey, come back to Brazil as soon as you guys can! The world has not forgoten about you!!!!
Eles estarão no Lolapalooza em 2018. The Killers é bom demais.
They came back to Brazil. How was it?
they sure did, about an hour where i live, but i'm a broke college student and couldn't go, it made me sad
🇧🇷❤🇧🇷❤🇧🇷❤
"That moment when your parents are fallible" Forever and always. I will never forget.
They are so wonderful.
...Wonderful Bad joke xd
Brandon: “my family went to church on Sunday” The Man: “Right hand of GOD. First in command. My testimony...”
there are lotsssss of biblical allusions throughout his lyrics :)
They look and sound like really cool and nice guys. Love The Killers ✌
Ronnie was single for a minute before he mentioned that he was getting married again soon... and i was happy 😭😭😭💘💘💘
ugh right?!
Yeeeeeeah omg
So awesome! Brandon Flowers has the same favorite The Killers song as me.
Ronnie can easily transition into stand up comedy, if he ever gets tired of being in the band.
Love and more love for this awsome group
I *need* a Killers/Strokes tour asap! I would literally eat top ramen for a year just to afford center stage tickets 😂
"You should try it if you're not good at speaking. Write a song." That's just beautiful right there.
Love brandon's adorable laugh 😍
I LOVE the second record too! Damn, I love their work so much, almost all, that I would still listen to them everytime I need comfort. The goal is to see them live tho
SO IN LOVE WITH BRANDON ALWAYS
My FAVORITE modern day Band!!
My sexuality is Brandon Flowers
Do you want to smell his feet ?

Read my mind is my all time favorite Killers song, I used to sing it as a lullaby to my son when he was a baby and so he loves it as too
I LOVE these guys... fantastic voice
Best Killers interview I've seen in a long time. Great job.
It's just amazing that she got to interview them in 2003 like just a year before they became huge and then 14 years later in 2017 promoting their 5th studio album. Brandon must have looked soo different back then, but then again not much has changed with their awkward interviews, hahaha.
Wanna see my Rock Recolection 😂 Ronnie slays me everytime
AWESOME! I love the Killers!
Saw Them on Tuesday here in Miami!! So happy really grew up listening to their music !! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Love love love them. Love all they’re about
Brandon. Top man, so normal and real.
Is he a Mormon?
@@cjhepburn7406 ye
🤣 This was great! I'm so excited to see them again in January! Love these dudes ♥️
Wow, it’s good to see Krist Novaselic is back at it again.
Oh my god Read my Mind is ALSO MY Favorite Killers song. It means so much to me. I can have it on repeat and it can always make feel nostalgic and better
when you were young i listened to it as a middle school child getting ready and i lived it now I'm nearly 30 and going to finally see my favorite band on tour.
Loved what Ronnie said at the end “ still a good distant between you two “ oh my god 😮😮😮 I’d be closing that distance that instant !
his eyessssssss gosh, dying already
“There’s still a good distance between you two” bahaha
theyre so humble i love it
Brandon is right! Inarticulate people like us must channel our energies elsewhere.
Heyyy, Read My Mind is _my_ favourite Killers song too. Glad to know I share a favourite with Brandon :)
Both the Killers and the interviewer are amazing. Bravo!
I would love for the Killers and the strokes to play at the same concert 🤯😱 great music and lyrics.
Omg I literally just commented the same thing 😂 I srsly want to go to a show with them both playing!
Brandon's laugh 💔
Love this and love The Killers. Big influence on us. "Wonderful Wonderful" is their best album yet.
I’m gonna keep this video forever!! ❤️❤️
Read my mind is my favorite song from them, too. It was the first song I heard from them when I came to America. Love them!!
Sam’s Town is their best album:)
YES!
Joana Catbagan nah. Hot fuss
Joana Catbagan sams town for sure!
Hot Fuss
Absolutley!!!
Brandon is so adorable.
"you know you will get taken down eventually though" smh
Cutest awkward interview ever.
Amazing.
The last 20 seconds were so awkward, probably because The Killers close with Mr. Brightside now, not When You Were Young
Damn, I liked WYWY last
That sucks because When You Were Young is an amazing closer
Brandon is so cute!!!!
Best Interview. Ever.
loved this!
The strokes have something in the can apparently 😱
*giggles and whispers* Apparently.
They must know some thing because Albert Hammond jr is touring with them. So I can see who is maybe giving them the info.
They don't... sadly
New song
@@dontworrybehappy1566 they are this year! yeay!
He's beautiful!
Saw them two weeks ago they were fucking awesome.
Saw them last in Miami in the AAA and all I can say! Best 2h and half of my life, Brandon was awesome, but the Killers as a group were out of this planet!
Anyone going through pain keep your head up no one is exempt not even the artist that you wouldn't think,1 life ,1 love !
I love em!
Hermoso Brandon 😍
These guys crack me up. Sam’s Town is still the best
10:15 when you forgot how to drink...
Excellent. 👋See y'all in slc 😍😎😍
09:56 - when you know you've changed the closing track on your tour but don't want to disappoint a pretty girl.
This was f'ing awesome.
Great interviewer
my favorite is Read my Mind like Brandon. yay
*this man right here*
"Hehehe yea? This fucking interview is over" lmaooo she did an awesome job❤ my favorite band of all time❤
READ MY MIND'S MY FAVORITE TOO
I love Ronnie.
Read My Mind Is Definitely my favorite song!
