And if you don’t like it you are also free to move. I live in Michigan the upper peninsula is super beautiful, we have tons of lakes, winery’s, beaches, sand dunes, we have Mackinac Island a whole beautiful Island with no cars around just ride your bike or take a horse ride and eat the best fudge you will ever have. Move here, it’s gorgeous. Detroit has high crime yes but it’s also a cool city most city do have high crime if you’re in the wrong areas. I don’t discourage people if they want to live here. • Great conversation of the area. I was curious....many out of state people gravitate towards Lake CDA for high end real estate. Outside of being by a larger town, are there advantages to CDA over Lake Ponderay, from the perspective of the lake life itself, for someone looking for some land to build a custom home on there? I like the idea of the larger, deeper lake and maybe better land value on Ponderay as opposed to CDA.

  • Great well rounded information. I subscribed. Idaho is a beautiful state. Don’t blame you for wanting to keep it that way. The only one thing that can ruin it is more people. I like how in everyone of these videos somebody comments “Californians go home”. I wish Californians would have been more like that years ago but not sure if that would have mattered. We are too damn welcoming. As a percentage of population more Idahoans moved to California than the other way around in 2019. Also Idaho is about half the size of California but you have about 5% of the population. I think you can spare the room.

There's a joke up here, if someone is going for an appointment at Bonner Hospital, your friends will say something along the lines of "nice knowing ya", it's funny, but like any joke, there is some truth behind it, and it's not different here, the Hospital has horrible reviews by the locals for a reason.

  • Lake Pend Oreille in water volume is the 2nd largest in the lower 48 states excluding the great lakes that are more like seas. Lake Tahoe is larger in volume but smaller in overall shoreline and length. So, some would say Lake Pend Oreille is the largest lake in the lower 48 states due to volume + shoreline + length + depth. It does get choppy, can be like a rough sea particularly during and right after storms, even have swells. Its 1200 deep, 4th deepest for navigable lakes, which makes it a cold lake. During the hottest times of year, the water can warm up to 5 feet down, after that depth is gets cold. Love Sandpoint but its growing season is shorter than the Coeur d'Alene area, Sandpoint is colder, more snow. I teach sailing on this lake, great sailing lake. There are no sailboat rentals. In the winter you must do snow sports to avoid seasonal affective disorders. Also, Sandpoint is very conservative in the town and outside the town. Good news is few far lefties here. Most people who have moved here are trying to get away from left states. Yes, Idaho does not give as much money to public schools because many kids are home schooled or go to private Christian schools. I have lived her for 25 years. Amazing place particularly for those who love the outdoors.

There’s farmers markets throughout the summer in Cd’A, Liberty Lake and Hayden. More trails and lakes to explore than you can shake a stick at. 5 ski Mountains within an hour of Cd’A, and tons of golf courses and disc golf courses. There’s timberline zip line tours, the Hiawatha bike trail on the state line between Idaho and Montana and so much more.
