As many have said, Mary is so deserving of this honor. I remember as a child in the early 90’s, my oldest brother being the biggest fan of hers. He would play her music all the time and I started liking her too! So, like many others, I’ve listened to her since the beginning of her career and I am so happy seeing her earning this honor!

I am 38. So, when I say Mary J. raised me with her music. Her position in music is so, powerful because since her first album there was always a soulful connection that bridged you to knowing God. The respect of music that came before her time that changed and made a way for her voice to become iconic, and also reviving the importance of those songs in pop culture, and just being honorable through her work ethic and bringing her personal vocal style into the arena where ballots really were the highlight of music. She also has collaborated with some of the newer biggest artists of today. Just one of the most graceful and important people to music. I am glad that we get to witness her get her flowers, and that I got to see and hear the evolution of MJB❤️😇 I just love her.

the very first time I heard Mary's voice, it was the Summer of '92..I was sitting in a barbershop waiting to get cut, right down the street from Winston-Salem State University...it was early Aug, and I was in the process of moving my stuff into my dorm room on campus. The song was "You Remind Me"..and the thing that stood out immediately about the song, is that there was nothing else on urban radio that sounded like that song...nothing. I kid you not, when I tell you, the hair on my forearm stood up...because thats what happens when you hear the perfect vocal on top of a perfect arrangement.

You know, when she first burst on the scene, I wasn't a huge fan. I was like yeah she ok. Diddy had her singing so many remakes and her voice wasn't all that to me. Some of her performances were off. But she grew on me. Girlfriend went through some stuff during that time. Her My Life album drew me in and have been a fan ever since. Her many songs are the playbook of her life and so many of her fans. Her career has skyrocketed. Congratulations to her on everything and especially her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
