This series aims to show the best vehicles to use in GTA Online in a racing situation. That is, around a regular circuit with a mix of corners and straights. The word "Fastest" means nothing without some context - these are the fastest vehicles around a circuit. How Lap Times Were Obtained Accurately
The best lap time a vehicle can achieve around a circuit determines how good it is and therefore its place within this list.
Each vehicle was taken around the same circuit multiple times, with the best lap time being recorded. For most vehicles this equates to 10 laps per vehicle, but can often be more to ensure the absolute best lap time has been achieved with the vehicle. There are some caveats to this kind of testing though which are worth explaining below.

I recommend reading this for anyone who is confused, interested, or doubts the validity of the results in this video as it explains in great detail the extent to which these results will be useful for you personally, in addition to linking the track used for your own testing/comparison.*
So with that all being said, this video should be taken as a guideline. The testing is very accurate for this track and similar tracks when cars are driven close to the maximum. At the very least you should be able to use this testing help narrow your field of view for your own personal testing. I would always recommend testing a variety of cars yourself and take into account what kind of tracks you're racing on, what is better for you and your skill level, and even your budget. My testing is meant to guide you, not tell you exactly what to use in every situation.

Would you say the Clique is the best muscle car right now besides the ASP, mainly for the handling? I find a struggle using the Pisswasser or Hellfire on tighter turns, it just feels the Clique is more solid overall

Doesn't surprise me that it's now among the best muscle cars in the game. Rockstar suddenly decided this one specific muscle car shouldn't handle like it uses soap tires and the result of that is some really nice handling.

I knew the Dominator ASP would be the new Muscle Car King. When I was testing it on the track, I kept saying, "It kinda feels like a sports car." And lo and behold, I was right. Thanks Broughy!

It’s a Cobra R Mustang. They’re track cars. Not made for top speed but made for cornering. It was ahead of its time when it came out in 2000.

viper was rather made to be more of an old school and needing taming kind of super, the corvette overall was meant to be a sports car, i think part of the reason they even stuck a V8 in the first place was because their l6 of their first model was so underpowered and from there it generally kept its tradition, they were at one point considering going rotary with it and many times they tried to make it mid-engine.
What I find funny about the whole situation is that the ASP is acting very much in line of it's heritage, being based off the 1999-2004 SN95 mustangs. For all intense and purpose, the SN95's were basically sports cars branded as a muscle cars, with how their body style and how they handled. They were made for the technicals rather than the straights, moreso than any mustang that came before it. So yeah, this is more than a tad bit scummy for rockstar, but in it's own ironic way, completely in line with this car's history.
Yeah, they were also surprisingly light, too. A base model SN95 only weighed 3077 pounds.

I have all dominators. The OG GTA 5 dominator handles like crap. The ASP and GTT shit on it. But the OG dominator has the highest top speed I think.

Just a heads-up: currently you can get the Pisswasser Dominator for free. Rockstar recently fixed something to do with returning players not getting their bonuses and they probably messed up and now all players are eligible for those bonuses.

My new favorite car in the history of GTA. I’ve always loved muscle cars, its really close to my favorite car IRL body wise and drives more like a sports car. I love it.
Rockstar does not care about balancing racing classes, they care about selling more new cars for hopefully shark cards.
This is how R* has utilized the dripfeed cars off of major updates for half a decade now. It's practically a given the Calico will be surpassed soon for tuner races.

I know it would mean a lot of work for Broughy, but I really hope Rockstar go over all the cars with a bit of BOP in E&E. It's more fun to have a choice of cars rather than just having 1 good car to race with.
i really hope so, its what bores me to death in races, i use the best cars and win every race, so to give myself a challenge i choose a car a fraction slower and i get absolutely shit on, and my friends are just as experienced
Unlikely. R* wants to make people keep buying the new cars. Because that means more time spent playing to raise that money or more sharks bought. The only way to do that is to make the new cars better than the existing ones. With the exception of completionists and diehard fans, most players won't buy cars that are mediocre.

Yeah raiders. Max suspension though for these since they get tiny traction bonus from lower suspension (just these tuners and the older camber cars)
@@broughy1322 - Thanks. I just didn't feel like the car was boosting enough with lowest suspension, so I went for street to get my 1:05.666, but I'll switch it back to lower just in case.
This makes sense, the Mustang Cobra R was an absolute unit and it's still competitive with modern sports cars!

That’s what I liked about the yosemity, it was the fastest but it needed a "good" driver to handle it.. now the mew way to win a muscle race is to take a sports car lol…
You gotta remember all these tuner cars hate curb boosting, so it still depends on the track.
Also the customization for the yosemite is fanstastic.
I agree racing muscle class used to be fun and a challenge trying to keep it under control while going around turns and stuff but now it's all just too easy not unless you have a custom race where the OP cars aren't available to choose that's about it lol

The new edge mustang SVT Cobra R was a track oriented car with a independent rear suspension. It wasn't meant to be a muscle car in the first place. It had a surprisingly top speed of 175mph with only 385hp.

It's a play on the Cobra R having the 'SVT' moniker, so it's both the snake and the acronym.
Fact: in the game called "Ford Racing 3" the equivalent of this car is all you needed because of its speed, acceleration and handling.
Thanks for the video! One question: I guess the ASP has probably one of the best traction in the muscle class, but how does it compare to the Dominator GTX in terms of grip and traction? On a track with zero straight and only traction based corners, in the rain, which of these do you think would be the fastest?
The ASP is slightly better.
So, I owned best in class for a whole week! I mainly bought the GTT to do up like a '69 Mustang Mach 1 (you can get quite close) so at least it's a good fit in my classic muscle cars garage! I also find it nicer to drive than the ASP but I'll get an ASP once trade unlocked I guess.

Same, it’s disappointing. It could’ve been exactly balanced with the current muscles, viable but not op, and I don’t really see any issues that would present since it’s not even competitive for Tuners. But instead we’ve got something we can’t use in the tuners class, and now we likely won’t see anyone use anything else from the Muscles class from here forth until they top it again.

I know Cayo exists and all but it's still crazy how they add a car in a certain class that's relatively quick day one, then a week or two later they add another car that's even faster in that same class to the point it's the fastest in it's class overall. R* thinks their slick, but I mean I was gonna buy this car anyways because I love the early 2000 cobras, but it feels like you kinda gotta buy one now anyways like it or not if you wanna be competitive in Muscle Car races.

The ASP Based off the new edge GT is actually in a good spot. Owning one myself I can tell you for sure, it is a really fast car out of factory. Upgrades can make it insane with how light it is.

From testing and also testing I've seen from other people, I can assure that it is the new king. But to be fair it should be the king because it's 1.4 million, as apposed to the previous king the zion which was free off the street lol.
Sultan RS Classic is also definitely going to fuck with the Sports Class in some way, maybe not a GTO beater but the Sultan Classic isn't slow.

Disagree entirely, but that's opinions for you. I think you guys just don't like muscle cars if that's your opinion. They really should have made classic(pre-80s) muscle and a modern muscle class. Makes no sense to race the GTT and the ASP. Absolutely none. The ASP belongs in muscle no more than the Coquette D10 would. Both examples of cars with muscle origins, that have become something else. The SVT Cobra being a track car, and the newer mid engine Corvette basically being a super.

Love the look of the car, but damn there's not much in terms of liveries. Some stripes, 2 flame fronts, and only 2 racing liveries, one being the missile one we have on so many other cars as well.

The Dominator ASP’s traction meter is maxed so it’s hard to tell if adding a spoiler improves anything. Does it? Aren’t there some cars that adding a spoiler makes no difference?
the bars are bullshit, all custom spoilers give the added traction bonus, and no to that last point
ASP is like Pariah in Sports, Club in Compacts or Vagrant in Off-Road class. Literally unbeatable.

I am so gutted. I've wanted a classic Mustang in the game for so long (Tampa doesn't count) and they finally gave us one and even gave us a reason to use it in races. When I saw a second Muscle car would be drip fed I was pretty sure this would happen but expectation doesn't dampen my disappointment. Why couldn't they have switched the cars and made the ASP the slower one that released first?

On the one hand, I'm glad they didn't nerf it like they always do (e.g. the Comet S2), but on the other, it sucks that the best muscle car doesn't handle or look like one and is based on the shittiest "muscle" car money can buy IRL.

little note on pronouncing this cars name, it's Asp as in the snake rather than A S P, whole point being that this is supposed to be a Cobra/Cobra R from the 2000s (not up on my mustangs so can't say for certain) and because they can't call it a Cobra or the lawers would come, they had to pick another venomous snake
If they wanted it to be pronounced Asp they would have called it the Asp, but they didn't, they called it ASP which implies it's an acronym and should be pronounced as such, regardless of what the name comes from This is exactly the same as people insisting the Deveste 8 should be pronounced "Devestate"
You say this car slaps and has no drawbacks, but I'd like to see this go up against the Pissw. Dominator on other tracks like Ron Raceway or Blaine County 24H. I bet you the ASP would be left in the dust. But I guess when the next Race track showcase happens, we'll get a live demonstration
