Beautiful idea. I love seeing new ways of doing inlays. I love the way that you used the file to rub the glue into the bark, as it uses the antler dust to fill in any small gaps. Mabe a tip you can use is when you glue the blade in. tape the blade to the point where the handle will meet it, and also tape the front of the handle and trim the hole. this way after gluing, it is very quick to clean up the glue by removing the tape. Great video.

Good effort but long working hours, very cold but I think the result did not do you justice. Perhaps the inner hollow part of the horns did not allow you to escape the tubular shape of the handle. Of course, I express my personal taste.

Thank you so much for this video. I really enjoy making the puukko style knives. Most of the time I use wooden wedges inserted vertically on each side of the tang. Is there an advantage or a weakness doing the handle this way? Very skillful and creative handle treatment with the birch bark! By the way, do you forge your own blades or where do you obtain them? I forge mine from antique buggy springs, sawmill blades and antique files. Have a blessed day my friend.
Hi Richard, thanks for your kind comment. I think as long as the tang is firmly and tightly fixed and doesn't have room to vibrate when hit or dropped it should be fine. I'm just learning to forge and plan to make videos about it. I will certainly need input from a more experienced person like yourself to help me through this new chapter in my knife making. @@VahidCullsberg Hello Mr. Cullsberg. May God be our purpose and power today. Thank you for taking time to reply to me. I am certainly still learning how to forge, and I expect that to continue. I use mineral coal and my forge is a hole in the ground. One thing I need to remember is not to forge too thin. I like to forge to shape as much as possible, but I try to leave my blade edge just a bit thicker than a dime so it does not warp as easily when I quench it in vegetable oil. When the blade turns black in the oil but is still hot I look for straightness real quick and then I put it between two very heavy solid concrete blocks or put it in my blacksmith's vice. This usually controls most warping. It also is important to put the same amount and heaviness of hammer blows on each side of the blade as much as possible. Try to leave your blade tip thicker and longer than you need. You can grind it down later and it will not tend to warp as much. When you are getting ready to Quench harden your blade you can use a magnet to see if your blade is non-magnetic, which is a pretty god indicator that it is hot enough to quench. Make sure the blade temperature is rising to magnetic and not coming back down to magnetic. Hey, that was probably more info than you wanted!🤐I am getting ready to make a trap spring knife with moose antler handles for a friend.
